Kentucky Kingdom
The Interpreter replied to sccard01's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Whalom Park, Williams Grove, Americana, Geauga Lake, Six Flags New Orleans, Astroland, AstroWorld, Hard Rock Park, Wyandot Lake, Bushkill Park, White Swan, West View, Euclid Beach, Wild West World,... In every case, someone said "I''ll go next year. Maybe." And there was no next year... -

Kentucky Kingdom
The Interpreter replied to sccard01's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Gotta hand it to Kentucky Kingdom, they've always had a diverse collection of coasters, from Chang, Twisted Twins and Greezed Lightning under SIX to The Runs and (soon to be) Storm Chaser now. Although I will likely not venture down there this summer (I'd prefer my first SLC to be a non-modded version, just to see what it's like)), I'd likely to return in 2017 and am interested to see their coaster collection grow once more. First, Chang and Twisted Sisters/Twins were Hart contracts. Second, that reason for not going this year may well be one of the silliest, inane things I have ever seen here: A. There is no guarantee the park will have a complete 2016 season, much less open in 2017. B. Coasters do get destroyed. C. You or the park may not be around next year. Sad, but true. Most importantly, the park needs your business NOW. I tried to give them mine. Sigh. -

I'm the reverse. I think it is very highly UNlikely to succeed. And I will be heartbroken if it doesn't succeed. As for exceeding expectations, the park has yet to meet the expectations that Mr. Hart himself set for the park. I am quite sure you could buy out his lease for far less than you might think. There is such a thing as buying an obligation. -
What is your favorite ride of the rides listed?
The Interpreter replied to Blackhole6670's topic in KI Polls
For two, it's a public poll. Members here include some with close relationships with industry interests, including parks, ride companies, and media. Do not be surprised if you get very few answers. For three, what is "best?" Only YOU can define that, and only your opinion matters. Go ride, then decide. As an example, this writer, unlike most, adored Rolling Thunder at Six Flags Great Adventure, Psyclone at Six Flags Magic Mountain, etc. Popular opinion was not kind to these rides. To put it mildly. On the other hand, most "thoosies" adore Voyage at Holiday World ((a mediocre ride in a park I no longer adore or even respect), I-305 at Kings Dominion--a far too intense experience for the average guest...I could go on and on. For MY rides, what you think may be a guide, but only that. Do I know you? Do I know what you like and why? If not, I give others' opinions some weight, but not very much. There are those I have learned have nearly identical tastes to mine. If they like something, chances are I will. If they don't, I likely won't. Mike S. once of Nashville comes immediately to mind... A poll on the Internet guide my ride opinions? No. Just no. -
Queen or full sized? Terp, trying to be good.

Look carefully at the cancellation policies on lodging. They are far less liberal than most places. For example, most require a 24 hour cancellation notice. Many still retain the first night's charge. Many charge your credit card at time of reservation. And getting a cancellation or a refund from Cedar Fair, in particular, can be challenging.

a. Do NOT go Columbus Day weekend. The place is busier than Walt Disney World on Christmas Day. b. Watch your speed on two lane roads to or from Cedar Point. Many local governments there seem to have taken revenue generation lessons from the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. c. Remember to watch the weather. The Point can be a LOT cooler, rainier and windier than points inland. d. Don't forget to have FUN!

Just think, when I was a lad, weather prognostication was done largely sans computer. It was notoriously inaccurate. Now, most forecasts are fairly accurate. The public largely doesn't understand or get it. Even some forecasters think that when NWS says 40 percent chance of precipitation that means 40 percent of the area will get it. Then many know not the difference between a watch and a warning. The Scientific Forecast Discussion can teach much. Here's the one for DC: http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=LWX&issuedby=LWX&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1&highlight=off

...rounds... I see what you did there! -
It's mostly not hers, either. The Herschends....

It did that one opening day years ago. The park opened. By 2, it was closed. I doubt there were more than 200 guests there, most with season passes.

Kentucky Kingdom needs to understand there is more to marketing than just social media. At least they seem to have shushed He Who Loves To Be Brash. -
