  1. Back on topic, The hammerhead turn is really in a nice spot, both in terms of the surrounding terrain and the overall layout of this coaster. There will be great views from every part of this thing! Remember, the landscape slopes away into the valley beyond Beast, making it look more dramatic and breath-taking, so coming around the 'top' of that element will truly be a sight to see!
  2. I guess you can make a record out of anything: Vortex: The only looping coaster in the world with a view of The Beast! Racer: The only wooden racing coaster in Warren County, Ohio! The Crypt: The world's most re-themed enclosed top spin! Drop Tower: The tallest Drop Tower west of the Little Miami! Seriously, though. There aren't that many Hyper Megas in the world, much less ones with splashdowns! I can't wait.
  3. Wow! I'm not sure what happened, but now I guess I won't be there. Have fun, and let's see some great reports with lots 'o photos!!! -Tb
  4. Well I hope so! I wouldn't want to spend all day at the top of the lift hill . Seriously, though, is it overhyped? I've only 'experienced' it through POVs on, like, YouTube, etc. It looks enormous and fast, and my coaster experiences have been limited to Kings Island, FunTown/SplashTown USA and WDW. Does it lack air time?
  5. Shades of Opryland USA . I'm impressed with the knowledge and tone of the posts I read on this site. People don't just throw conjecture around. It's always sound, with facts and principles to back up what is said. I'm glad that the talented architects that are entering the work force are doing so with a balanced understanding of commercial and environmental needs.
  6. As construction continues, I see our two meanest coasters are getting acquainted... Happy New Year! -Tb
  7. The scary thing is that the birds in the area of Diamondback are usually Canada Geese!!!!
  8. This strange, luminous phenomenon has me wanting to rock out to this: Close Encounters
  9. [in my fake Japanese accent] ^Ingenious! I see you have mastered the way of the one-word post, ha! [back in Ohioan accent, and on-topic] Once, only the Eiffel Tower and Drop Zone dominated the tree line above Western Row. This morning, Diamondback resembles something of a spaghetti bowl in front of the tower. It is looking quite impressive, and Clifford will soon be bringing another peak into view.
  10. [in my fake British accent] Righto, but it seems BLSC's 'splashdown' isn't a proper splash-down at all, but something of a fountain that squirts a bit of water about when the carriage passes over it?
  11. Nice article. It actually says that Kings Island is in Mason, and not in Cincinnati, as so many other national articles do. I didn't really think about the fact that Diamondback is going to be "seat belt-less". Talk about air time!
  12. It seems like yesterday when we were discussing the draining of Swan Lake; now look at that thing. It's coming along nicely!
  13. Oh, how I love that daffy Screamscape! You can get the "Marge Simpson" and get on any ride you want!!!
  14. In the immortal words of "Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery,": Yeah, Baby! I'll be bringing my mud boots!
  15. At least every amusement park doesn't have a coaster like Diamondback, Night Row , or Behemoth. It's an honor to have such a superstar coaster in "our" park. Not only an honor, but a thrill, because now I don't have to drive to another state/country to experience the ride (although, I might probably make it to Canada and back before some get through the line...)
  16. Having never had the priviledge of seeing a B&M Hyper up close, this will be a very cool experience for me (if I can go).
  17. I can't wait to see the "Photos in Minutes" sign GONE! Finally!
  18. I have faith in the powers that landscape Kings Island (forget BLSC). I'm sure the splashdown will be mercifully appealing to the senses when completed (unlike WWC, which opened with smelly, brown foam in '85).
  19. I can't wait to experience the Kings Island Miami Valley Rail Road's new $20,000,000 head-chopper effect! Seriously, I can't wait to show my friend from Maine what a real amusement park is like (although FunTown/SplashTown USA isn't entirely milquetoast...)
  20. ..at least he hasn't learned the 'Real Big' bolt to the noggin kung fu move. Lightning fast.... deadly effective.
  21. Exactly! ....Can tie a knot in a cherry stem, with his toes. ....Can go to the moon and back, with no rocket. ....Can program a computer, without touching it. ....Can Ride the DJIA Coaster, with his hands up and eyes open. ....Can Jump off of Diamondback's hill, and not get a scratch. That's all I can think of right now. ... knew how to spell "Cincinnati" at 2 ... can flex his eyeballs ... can throw an 80 yard TD pass...to himself....against the Titans ... taught Shaun White and Tony Hawk how to rip a wicked 360 ... let the dawgs out..... Clifford is back up? Cool. More tree-toppage is imminent. Another peak will soon join the Diamondback Sierra.
  22. ^^ ... can chew some wood and some nails and spit out a roller coaster. ... can solve a Rubik's Cube with a single flick of the wrist. ... can open two new bottles of ketchup with one hand. ... can cook Foie Gras with a microwave. ... conquered Mt. Everest ...in shorts. This can get silly... ^ Back on topic... nice stitch work, Firehawkboy! The lift hill just looks magnificent!
