I love going through the park and hearing the English language in various American dialects and accents. Once I walked by a family whose daughter pointed at "the" Viking Fury and said "Thayer's the best rahd ayver!"

At Kings Island: Walking around KI alone (waiting for my wife to get off work and come join me), acting like I'm talking on my cell phone so as not to feel awkward, when it rings and buzzes right in my ear and I drop it, to the delight of many a laughing on-looker. Non park: I saw a really bad, cheaply-made, rubber "Freddy Krueger" mask on display at a Montgomery Ward in Montana. I told my friend: "I can do a better makeup job than that!" Just as an old woman with very bad makeup on her face came around the corner and said "Same to you, bub!"

That was well-written, and thoroughly enjoyable to read! Very vivid. -

Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)
Thrill_Biscuit replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I closed the "Rumored Coaster for 2009" thread and linked to the D-Back info thread. I wonder if this one will be just as long when I close this thread and link to the photo updates and video of its opening. I'm still guessin' 8200 posts by "closing" time... -
If you bundle up enough, you can enjoy anything.

What incredible timing! I just posted a "when will we see some treetop sproutage" question in another thread. Awesome pics! Thanks.

So as I'm cruising up Socialville-Fosters road, will I be seeing some good treetop sproutage? It's been nothin' but Clifford for weeks...can't wait to start seeing the new skyline take shape... -
What do you think of the name "Diamondback"?
Thrill_Biscuit replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
^^Why would it be so weird? We're comparing an enormous, 230', chiefly vertical hypercoaster to a relatively small, poisonous snake that sidewinds and eats prairie dogs. I like the scientific name Crotalus atrox, which would be too much of a mouthful for a coaster name. -
What do you think of the name "Diamondback"?
Thrill_Biscuit replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
Ironically, Rivertown used to have a place where you could get Cincinnati Reds' memorabilia. Now there's a red hypercoaster in that area who will share its name with a team from Arizona. "Big Red Machine" would have been kinda ...nostalgic. -
The first one sounds almost believable. The second one sounds more like an aircraft carrier (give or take 80 mph).

Hey, watch me! I'm going to break the rules and jump into the fountains! Ain't I a cool rebel? Hey, watch me! I'm going to break the rules and walk under this suspended coa[[[whack!]]] This kind of mentality only leads to more and more dangerous behavior.

I'm wondering if a drought during summer/fall means a winter full of 2 foot blizzards? -
^You make it easy to think of the reasons why we hold our beloved park so dear.

Robbie Knievel's jump, the giant flag skydiver, the HB Characters doing the 'Hustle' with the 'tourists' and 1970's uniforms were all my favorite memories of '08.

Chance Recalls Yo-Yo Amusement Rides
Thrill_Biscuit replied to RailRider's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's funny. Some midway rides made by "Chance", and some games of chance are made by "Midway". -
^^They are. At one time, it seemed virtually everyone learned manners and common courtesy early on. That's disappearing more and more as people just aren't teaching their kids how to behave in an orderly society (and there are way too many interpretations of what that is exactly).
-
I honestly can't remember ever line jumping. LJs need to learn some manners.
-
Well if they ever did, I'd hope the replacement would be something like Berzerker, or a Vekoma Air Jumper.

Dubailand: To Be Or Not To Be?
Thrill_Biscuit replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Everything about Dubai is grand in scale. I wonder what kinds of coasters will be built there. (I'd go just to visit the Burj al-Arab and the Burj Dubai, being a fan of tower architecture.) With enough money and the 'right' construction laws in place, anything is imaginable! -

Oh, we have pretty mild winters around here.
