  1. Thanks! About 15-25 minutes, tops. ^I do see those new tracks, too. I agree. It makes sense that that would be the exit lines.
  2. Wow, that's to funny! That's going on my blog! What software do you use to make these? Thanks! I'm honored! Well, believe it or not, it's Microsoft PowerPoint. Except for the horses, plane, Eiffel Tower head and other gifs, most of what you see are drawing objects that I set with 3D gradient fills. The trees are all the same tree, which I place carefully and then reset brightness & contrast values, as well as re-sizing. The fog effect is really an oval autoshape set to fill from white to transparent, then ordered behind the first layers to give the illusion of depth. I'm a stickler for detail, so the shadows you see are all the same as the fog, only black-to-transparent. I drew the arrow sign 'by hand' using autoshapes. Mt. Helbig is the same curved line repeated three times, with the center one 'dashed' to give the illusion of track supports. The 'dashboard' is just a long triangle. The high-tension electric towers are really two images of a lattice tower reversed and superimposed over one-another with contrasting grey values. I then added the power lines and braces and faded them to appear more distant. The fence is a repeated lower case 'L,' shaded with brown shadow, and with a white curve drawn through them. The snow cap atop the hill is just a freehand object that I set to gradient from gray-to-white, to make it look sunlit. I then group the images, save-as-picture to jpeg format, post on my blog, and then post here on KIC. It's much faster for me than PhotoShop or Roxio PhotoSuite, both of which I also use occasionally.
  3. Perhaps "Mt. Voss"? Redux: The Majestic, Snow-Capped Mt. Helbig rises above the Diamondback Sierra, high above the treetops! (can you tell I have the day off?)
  4. Wait! Stock Market Summit doesn't sound as Kings Islandy as all the others. Are you sure?
  5. I have. I used to dreeeam of having a house in that area, but it has built up much more than I ever expected. Aside from free 5-minute firework displays on summer nights, and a unique view of things you just don't see everywhere else (an Eiffel Tower, the occasional (now ubiquitous) coaster hill), the area has just grown into a giant subdivision; the feel is just not the same anymore.
  6. I don't think it will for a long, long time. It would be sad if it did. 2008 Eric Liming
  7. ^ The Majestic "Mt. Helbig", as viewed from pastoral Western Row Road:
  8. Okay, I just thought of something (for what it's worth) ~ I haven't yet seen anyone giving nicknames to the new 'peaks' that are emerging from the Kings Island treetops. The new skyline is getting a 'range' of 'mountainous' coaster hills visible for a couple miles away. I don't know the folks after whom we can lovingly dub these new giants? Folks iconic to KI lore? "Mt. Allen," "Mt. Dinn," "Mt. Helbig," etc.? Anyway great photos! I wrote in another post how cool the one picture is that features almost all the coasters (except the ones in NU) that have sprung up around good ol' Racer over the decades. The pics you guys provide are always amazing!
  9. Sorry I don't have a camera (yet...jingle jingle jingle...); but for a change of pace I decided to take a right turn onto Socialville Fosters, then left on Western Row road this morning. It's a bit of a country drive, with some horse farms and sich (I mean such). Talk about a dramatic perspective! The view of Diamondback rising over that unique landscape is phenomenal! ...and that's only the first 2 hills (well, hill and a half at this point)! This thing is impressive! Just thought I'd share.
  10. Wow! I knew only good things could come from you city folk and your flyin' machines! There's a great shot in there where you can see all the coasters (except the NU ones), and it's cool to see all the legends that have grown up around good ol' Racer over the last 36 years. Good show!
  11. Waaaaaaay awesome! Wow, I never saw anything like the lumberjack lift thing (imagine if Drop Tower were so self-powered!!!) :-D Great PTR!
  12. I remember being accidentally heel-kicked in the chin in one of those back in the 70s (a 'moonwalk' at a fair in Belleville, Mich.). There were maybe four or five of us bouncing around in there, and it got pretty chaotic. I don't know what safety improvements have been made to inflatables in the last 35 years, but I'm sure there are still a bunch of bumps and bruises on America's midways.
  13. ^That's because Atlanta is a special, magical city! I think it has something to do with the major automobile industries associated with the north, and the concerns surrounding them presently. -Tb, who buys a lot of Coca-Cola and peaches...
  14. im talking 200 pounds and boils all over her face plus she had a engament ring on Are you bragging about this?
  15. In the words of Neil Peart: Merry-go-round wheezin' the same old melody [EDIT] I Killed another topic.
  16. Nice video; good choice of music! (I never knew there was a 'world's longest kickline'. I mustn't have been paying that much attention this year.) ^Sorry about the loss of your friend, man. That is tragic.
  17. I suppose if Mr. Jackson had managed his fortune differently, he wouldn't be affected as much by the current financial woes. I seem to remember a documentary showing him going on opulent, over-the-top shopping sprees similar to those of Sir Elton John, which left the latter star in somewhat of a cash shortage in the late 1980s. Oh, well. I hope the best for them.
  18. Somebody got the idea that such punishments bruise the ego of the child. I guess they don't realize how much bruising is involved in blunt-impact trauma of being nailed by a boat ride.
  19. People just have to be responsible with the amount they consume.
  20. ^That is the ultimate wooden coaster experience right there, my friends!
  21. ^Good! Maybe the double helix rendered him a bit more disoriented, making his capture all the more easier!
  22. It seems that entertainment-oriented businesses do well during times of economic uncertainty. People must want to escape the woes for a day or two. Just my 2 cents (or, well, my nickel).
