  1. Yeah! What happened to cartoons? It's like they've been dumbed down in order to entertain an ever-decreasing attention span or something (or worse, an agenda) . I'm going to hold on to the old HB, WB & Max Fleischer cartoons for my kids to watch. Enchanted Voyage was awesome. Better than "It's a Small World" at WDW.
  2. ^^^^Congrats on 1K, iChase! I saw a huge, yellow crane coming down from 63 (at LCI) towards KI (it kept going when I turned at "JoMart"). Don't know if it's part of DB construction or not.
  3. KI does have a nice view of a forested river valley. Diamondback is going to be a great addition to an already great park.
  4. I think the model would complete the circuit at the prescribed length of time if the mass of the Earth was reduced to ~1/48, but then the real one would run considerably slower than 80 mph. Good idea on the auction. It is a somewhat "famous" model now, so it might have a slighly higher value.
  5. I'm thinking Metallica: [edit] nah. maybe too slow...
  6. I imagined it would look something like this: -Tb, by no means an architect.
  7. Walk out the distance of a particular coaster's drop. Then tell him it's just the same distance, only slanted like a hill. Compare the experience to sledding or go-cart racing. Explain the safety systems built in to a coaster (how restraints work, the chain dogs, sensors, the way the wheels are both over and under the track, etc.). Those worked in getting me over my fears. Another trick I learned when I was a kid: pretend to be "in control" of the acceleration during the drop (imagine a 'gas pedal'). I don't know how, but this reduces the severity of the gut reaction from painful to thrilling.
  8. I once felt like I was sitting still and the world was swinging about me on Delirium (like when standing on a bridge and looking at the river, feeling like the bridge is moving but the water is not...that kind of feeling, only in reverse). Very disorienting!
  9. I wonder if they'll make use of the old building that has the water tower with the sign that reads "Photos in Minutes".
  10. I'd be like, "Well let me check my Blackberry....one moment....Carrie....uh huh....yep......doo doo doo....hold on, I'm checkin'.....Underwo.. AH! There. Next Thursday, Salt Lake City...7 PM...yep. There you go!"
  11. 1. Back Lot Stunt Coaster (fun ride, bad theming) 2. The ugly urban theming and pointless helicopter gun scene 3. Keep the coaster, retheme with Alpine spring landscaping, and get rid of the mid-ride stop.
  12. Perhaps something akin to that structure in Fairfield with the monorail to Jungle Jims...
  13. This is going up fast! It's like "Extreme Makeover, Coaster Edition!" -They're going to need a really, really huge bus, though.
  14. I got my eye on that tree line...soon the "hills" will sprout up and dominate the KI skyline! (pretend they're binoculars...)
  15. I'm not sure what you mean by 'anointing oil' but my opinion is just that: my opinion, and I thank you for sharing yours with us. (I'm just a fan; I don't have the power to anoint much, I'm afraid) . I have already weighed the pros and cons from both owners, and CF comes out in a more favorable light to me. Paramount did very well with things like TR:TR and NU, and I preferred their movie themes on I street over CF's more 'adult contemporary', but CF has the park feeling like it did during what I call the 'good old days'. Kings Island really feels more alive than it did under Paramount. To me. That's all.
  16. Awesome report, HandsUp! You're right: what a difference. IMHO the park has improved tenfold from the days of Paramount. The staff seems friendlier, the park feels cleaner, it doesn't feel like the park is being run from 2000 miles away anymore. It's back to feeling like a unique place, with its own charm and character.
  17. I'd love to see them again. Dick Van Dyke would sing "Kings Island's the Place..." I don't remember much else of the lyrics, but it featured broadway-style dancing and lights as I remember.
  18. I think I was in that line! Seriously, it was around the time "Back to the Future" was released, I think. My friends and I waited more than 1 1/2 hours on a slightly drizzly, overcast day to ride WWC. When we got to it, the water was smelly and had a lot of brownish-green foam. Not worth the wait.
  19. A long walk because of a billboard?
  20. 45 minutes for AE? I wonder what that translates to in Firehawk time?
  21. Those mountain shots are simply magnificent! There's something dreamlike about them. The lake is so serene, and that colorful town to the right looks timeless! Like a Bob Ross painting! Very very nice, Fan of Beast!
  22. In line for AE: "That's the music from Star Wars!"
