  1. I had $40 in quarters just in case.... but I guess the ride doesn't open until... later this weekend? EDIT: ....narrr! (I forgot I talk like a pirate when I become "Capn' Splashbeard!")
  2. I don't know how many people will be there this weekend; however, I do know that quite a lot of them will get wet on Whitewater Canyon... mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
  3. Don't make me break out The Vortex Song
  4. Small boy at front gate, to his dad: "How come the airport people ain't out here today?"
  5. EDIT - Wrong thread (this keeps happening; I could swear I clicked on another thread)...
  6. Man you must've gone through a lot of chalk! Seriously, though, ...um, .... I got nothing.
  7. Why does Bunyan Run sound like a marathon that you complete in high heels? Or a dramatic scene from "Jurassic World?"
  8. I asked Don if Whitewater Canyon will operate this year. He said yes, and that it would open Memorial Day weekend, and that the entrance was right under Diamondback. He pointed to the entrance, and I looked at it and took some photos. I also asked him if the geysers were still there, and he said yes. So, at least for one more season, if the fates allow, I'm going to splash to my heart's content all who dare pass through "Geyser Alley," showing no signs of obeying the posted signs that clearly dictate: "You WILL get wet on this ride." Just helping out, y'all.
  9. Looking forward to "Origins." I also can't wait to see the audience reactions to the dog show at ISP. I haven't seen the Festhaus show yet, but I hope to catch it next time I'm at KI, sometime in May.
  10. For the delight of our "Return of Son of Beast" theorists: I'm going to bring this out of the archives: (from an old post about what they'd do with SOB's remains)
  11. In line at "Dinosaurs Alive" (yes, there was a line for it on opening day) "You gotta pay extra for parallel parking."
  12. I remember a post, possibly by Mr. Helbig (?), which showed a small, wooden platform placed in the green-space that used to be Saltwater Circus (behind and to the northeast of International Showplace). It had some kind of 'teaser' caption. It was right before the announcement of Tropical Plunge last summer. I can't seem to find that one either.
  13. High-fiving The Beast has its consequences! Hope you get better soon!
  14. Always love Coasterbob's work. In person, if the person kicking isn't bending it like Beckham, it seems harmless.
  15. 4/29 is my.... AND Kings Island's birthday (My third birthday was on the day of the park's Grand Opening). I'll be miles away, at none other than the Grand Canyon; however, thanks to the miracle of modern technology, I shall check in for lots of updates on how things are going at the ol' home park. Have fun!!!
  16. That's one of the things (possibly the chief thing) that makes The Beast so legendary. No joke: My first time experiencing said tunnel, because of the "strobe light" effect of sunlight coming through the loose wall beams, and the wildness of that particular element, my brain went into that mode where it felt like being in the video for Metallica's "Enter Sandman." 17. ^Did we get photobombed by a Seattle Mariner? To be fair, I actually was already at the Eiffel Tower well in advance of the group photo ... I was a little late to the lunch, because of course I am psychic, and knew that if I arrived just a few moments sooner, that hostess would have spilled drinks all over my laptop. Great meeting you and all the other KICers, on what has to be the greatest opening day (weather-wise) I have ever seen at the park!
  18. I'll be doing something like this in Tucson next week. I wasn't sure what my friend was talking about when she told me about it, but this helped me figure out what these things are, so now I'm psyched!
  19. As posted in the 2016 Season Thread... this was at about lunchtime. They were working really fast today.
  20. On my way back by, the signage was being installed:
  21. Here's a video from today. Best viewed in 720p. Personal observation; not a news item. (Verbal permission obtained from Rivers Crossing to film from their property)
  22. This is one of the best topics I've ever seen. I remember the balloon landing in the corn field that is now Christs Church at Mason. Growing up, I'd spend afternoons on the jungle gym at Western Row Elementary, just looking off over the waving fields to the Eiffel Tower, and the bi-planes, then balloon. Couldn't really see the skydivers from that distance, though. Wow! Again, thanks for these amazing, hearty pieces of the quilt that is our childhood memories! You guys are the best!
  23. Taken about 15 minutes ago (thanks to Rivers Crossing for giving me permission to take pictures from their property). I love this new entrance/exit that leads to the new plaza, which is out-of-view (the entrance road (which is on the right side of the sign shown here) appears to curve to the right/south, appears to go behind the old cemetery and meet the plaza at the edge of the parking lot). Here's a closer look: It appears that there has been some road-widening, and crews appear to be working diligently to prepare for Saturday:
