  1. Thinking outside the box, with the entire gate moved "forward." Here's a grain of salt to go with it [.].
  2. CGA kinda needed it. It's not like there's anything interesting happening anywhere else in Santa Clara, especially over at Levi's Stadium ... Having something return to Action Theater would be nice. Let's go ahead and cut that cookie, I'm "game" (pun intended).
  3. Epic shot! Viewed from corner angles, there's an unintentionally humorous, visually ambiguous way to look at this, but be careful, because you might not be able to "un-see" it. The v-shaped corner braces look like a smile, and the two visible sets of eyes look like individual, sleepy eyes, making for completely different illusion.
  4. Thanks, guys. Skyrider started a great topic here (thanks, Skyrider!), and the pic that pyrocoasterkid shared and Lorax's picture are simply amazing! I love how the position of the eyes creates sort of a top-hat-wearing effect, like the Master of Scarimonies. Kudos to the imaginative teams at KD and KI for employing this cool effect on their towers.
  5. I have to imagine that any proceeds from the sale of scrap metal would work its way onto the asset column of the project. Just sayin'.
  6. Thank you! I'm very glad you enjoyed it! It comes from a lot of experience. I've been doing animations, video "cartoons," and other media for many, many years. I'll lay down an audio track, then animate around it with timings and adjustments here and there until I have something I think others will enjoy, then I share it. I saw your post title, and the Kim Carnes song entered my head, and I just couldn't resist!
  7. They're just his; he just opens them up!
  8. They should just keep those up there year 'round. Looks bada**!

    Would You?

My answer is no. I haven't even been to Hawaii yet.
  10. With the advancements in LED technology and sound, I imagine you could put a standard Ferris wheel in that building and surround it with any wild combination of visual and aural experiences, and it would be a wow. Two birds...
  11. The Ohio River grosses me out. We had a cruise on one of the riverboats back in 2011, and had people from all over the country in town for the trip. The sewer smell at the place where we boarded the boat made some of us sick. I just don't like boating in the inland waterways, and there was all kinds of garbage floating by. It was embarrassing. The green-powered boat rides in our National Parks, where you can see the sunlight dancing on the rocks 50 feet below the boat, are refreshing excursions.
  12. I wouldn't put it past somebody to come up with a parody of "Hooked on a Feeling" for Haunt. Think 'meat locker.' "Aaaaaaaaaah! I'm hooked on the ceiling!" -Tb, an Alice Cooper fan of old.
  13. I am very much for responsible waste management and recycling; I really am. I would just hope that the desired outcome of a civil suit against an organization would be for the implementation of solutions, rather than punitive fines that wind up filtering their way through the pocketscape that is bureaucracy. "The Court hereby orders you to install a Magellan X3000L treatment system on all six of your outflow stations, at your expense, to be monitored by such and such agency to ensure compliance, upon your commercial liability etc. etc. etc. and establish a specific trust, funded by you, solely for the reclamation and restoration of lands harmed by the similiter in proposito ..."
  14. Sigh. Well, I hope it's handled fairly and equitably, and that it's examined with critical thinking upon a balanced presentation of the facts. I'd hate for this to be rooted in some surreptitious purpose beyond the protection of the environment. I really would. I really, really would. (Eye-rolling the news, not the messenger)...
  15. That's provided the obsolescence is based on lack of unique experience and overall character. To paraphrase Donus Maximus, coaster riders vote with their feet (I've heard 'seats,' but I understand the inherent PR sensitivity), so if Vortex is the people eater I've heard it is, here almost 30 years after it took its firm, metallic grip on Kings Island, then it's hard to imagine it going away soon.
  16. At 9:30 PM Eastern, "Vortex Himself" will answer this very question, right here on KIC! Stay tuned.
  17. I always dream there are massive, popular rides in the parking lot. Early Saturday morning I awoke from a dream that there was a "ski-jump" water slide (multi-colored track (I do dream in color!), which accelerates the rider up over a 200-foot 'ramp,' and you have to control your "landing" on any one of three "catch" slides that are over the entrance to the Picnic Grove. I woke up because, while in flight, I knew I was going to miss the catch slides and slam into the ground (I was face-up, and couldn't see the landing slides), and I was laughing uncontrollably. I "hit" just as I woke up.
  18. Fascinating. I can see how such an eerie, incredible coincidence would bolster one's interests in the supernatural.
  19. The rain percentage goes from 30% up to 70% back down to 40% throughout the day. Storms like this hit the Ohio River valley and kinda scatter a bit, so it probably won't be a constant rain. Link
  20. I don't see a fight being picked; I see a new member who appears to have great interest in the park's history, and wants to contribute to this community in a way that is engaging and thought-provoking, if not delicate - especially in light of how respectful we must be when bringing up tragic subject matter in a public forum. My sincere recommendation would be to carefully review this site's content and, when you come across any of the existing info, courteously quote the original poster, and then reply to the quote in a conversational manner, which will nurture further discussion, perhaps with newer viewpoints or perspectives.
  21. Oh, I was speaking generally. It's one of those things where, if someone hears about something, and they can look it up in the instant-information world we live in, and then, if they should happen to later visit a Pepper's Ghost attraction, they won't experience it with the intended wonder and amazement first. That is all.
  22. Caution: Unless you're good at suspending disbelief, once you've seen it, you can't "un-see" it, so the experience will be lost with your newly-trained eyes! So if you haven't yet experienced an attraction that uses the classic effect, don't spoil yourself by knowing the effect going in. Be amazed first, then peek behind the curtain!
  23. I wouldn't be discouraged to summarize, in my own words, what I've read, and then provide a hyperlink to the landing page of the web site on which I read my source material. That would be the physical-world equivalent of reading a book, walking up to a group of friends and telling them my own perspective, and giving them precise directions to the library or bookstore so that they can research it for themselves. The friends can then take it upon themselves to go to that library or bookstore, agree to the terms of use that are presented there, and and then consume the information for themselves, which leads to further enrichment of the conversation.
