  1. I stopped visiting the wave pool years ago, when I saw more than one couple in the pool, who were in the most direct need of, well, obtaining a more private form of hospitality services.
  2. Ding! Ding! Ding! End of round one. Please retire to your respective corners. Thank you. (Multiple exclamation points are okay if separated by words, especially onomatopoeic ones.) If I were to go to another thread, I'd say I'd want an NFL-themed Tilt-a-Whirl, with the cars painted like local-market teams, the platform painted like turf (or covered with artificial turf), a large "football" in the center, and stadium theming curving around the outside. Maybe some Chris Bermanisms piped in with crowd noises over some loudspeakers for some appropriate ambiance. Call it "Red Zone Fumble" or something like that.
  3. So, the parasite has a shell that protects it from chlorine? I guess it's too impractical (or dangerous) to employ ultraviolet light; or to add 'boiling and re-cooling' to the filtration process. Sheesh! (and I use that exclamation lightly!)
  4. Standbyme seems to have hit the, ahem, "Jackpot!" Idea: bury yours in a time capsule, with instructions to your great grandchildren to dig it up (who knows? with medical science, you might just be there to dig it back up yourself). Then take it on to Antiques Space Show (you know, because there won't be any 'roads') and see what it's worth then. I'd bet it'd fetch at least 1000-2000 future-bucks! Good luck!
  5. Somehow I knew this wasn't going to be about the economic impact of being rated second among water parks. Somehow.
  6. Great show way back in 2004; and if you blinked, you missed that signature effect (as did I almost).
  7. When you start seeing concrete footers, ever-so-cleverly concealed beneath beautiful, potted flowers and the like start popping up in the "clearing," then, my good fellows, shall I start wringing my hands with grinning anticipation! ...uh, but nah.
  8. Guest 1: "So why'd they name it "Diamondback?" Guest 2: "It's an out-and-back with 10 drops. "Dime & back."" Guest 1: Oh. .... that actually sounded believable to me, but I've never heard how they came up with Diamondback's moniker.
  9. I Love the imaginative, creative ways people share their thoughts on here! Some topics flow with all the laughs, twists and turns of a good coaster ride, and when they do, there's rarely an MCBR! Bravo!
  10. I thought Fushiondude was speaking in Cher-ese... "♫ Erf er cern tern berck term... erf er cern fernd serm way... Er'd terk berck therse werds thert hurt you, and you'd sterrrrrr...♫"
  11. Flight of Fear: "Subterranean Homesick Alien" by Radiohead The Beast: "Wherever I May Roam" by Metallica Vortex: "YYZ" by Rush Grand Carousel: "March from 1941" by John Williams
  12. Vinnie Testacles played for the Jets, not the Giants. I thought I typed "Jets!" I must've been in a hurry when I wrote the post. Good catch.
  13. Durable souvenir shirts in XL-Tall sizes would be cool (not sure I've seen any). I have two ashtrays from 1973, both purchased at antique shops (though not technically antiques; but rather memorabilia). They have International Street painted on them, with the skyride going across the front of the Eiffel Tower; and each has1/2 inch tiles around the rim, with a golden finish on the back. (I'd provide pics, but can't seem to find what happened to my blog site.)
  14. Not seeing this in the wires yet. Screamscape, eh? Hmmm. Ok.
  15. A 65-year-old dude wearing Sketchers, blue jeans from the '90s, a Vinnie Testaverde New York Giants jersey, and an Under Armour hat. Styyyyyylllle!
  16. Theme! It helps take you out of your daily musings. Thus, it is a-musing to enjoy theming. I think I want coffee, now. Brb
  17. Terpy meant "queue" video, but the second "u" got knocked upside-down by the sheer dynamic force of this thread...
  18. As long as all the elements are there, theming can work (at least for those who choose to experience the attraction according to its theming).
  19. How "aboot" a Canadian-themed area, eh? With a 1/3 replica of the CN Tower (which would still dwarf everything in the park) I'm for a retro-park, a "land of the lost rides," with Tumblebug, Spinning Keggers, Zodiac, Flyers and King Cobra, but done up in post-apocalyptic, steampunk rust-and-overgrown plants... or something like that; with creepy Elfman-esque carnival music... or not...
  20. ♫ Ooooooooo la la la la! ♫ They buried a parking lot, and put up a par-a-dise! Oooooooo La la la la!
  21. I once took some Google Earth pictures (measured carefully, of course) and was able to put the Magic Kingdom inside Kings Island's parking lot. I think I also fit Paul Brown Stadium in there, too. I don't know why I brought this up, but it seemed relevant.
  22. Don't make me bring out the UFO
  23. Maybe if they were heavily sponsored (like the "Sohio" signs on the trams in the late 70's), or some kind of green-energy concept vehicles in need of some good, public exposure, they might return. Who knows? It's at least plausible.
  24. If it's got a catchy name, it's themed (even if the manufacturer's model name is used in some cases; but certainly not all). Otherwise, a ride count from a trip report might read like this: Green Observation Tower Wooden Roller Coaster (Large) Wooden Roller Coaster (Mirrored Pseudo-Competitive) Electronically Launched Automobile Roller Coaster Drop Tower... hey, wait a minute; I think you might have a point!
  25. Perhaps The Vortex would have been constructed in another section of the park (you know, where there's solid bedrock and no soupy swampland to sink into 10 ). I agree with Terp, that Son of Bat -er- Flight Deck is a successful descendant of the concept.
