Kennywood's King Kahuna Malfunctions

Ah, those pre-existing conditions will get you every time! I think the Good Lord's Intelligent Design has built-in pre-existing conditions! (please don't tell Him I said that) -
Fast Lane "Plus" Comes to some of the Cedar Fair Parks
Hank replied to CoasterGeek101's topic in Kings Island
I'm not upset at you or anything like that - I'm just so tired of everything costing a buck when my income hasn't gone up in years! And I may get to the park if we have a meet-up. Can't ride any coasters, but that carousel is looking mighty fine! -

I very much dislike having to pay for parking too. Sorry, but that's how I am. (And I haven't been to the park due to health issues. I probably won't make it this year either.) -

Not trying to be silly. Just totally against the whole Fast Pass thing. That is how I feel. End of my comments. -

^ Yes, but that also includes other things that really aren't necessary for the people I'm talking about. -

Here's a money-making proposition for Cedar Fair......and something to pacify those who just "have to have" unlimited access to certain rides: Issue a new pass - call it a "Marathon Pass". Charge $500 extra (in addition to park entrance) and the purchaser can ride 2 or 3 certain rides all that day, getting on immediately - absolutely no waiting. Maybe the charge should be more? This would squelch the fanatics, cut through the bull****, let the patron ride to his or hers heart's content, and bring in those almighty dollars Cedar Fair seems so hungry for. Now, you say this is a far fetched idea, but from what I've read in all the threads about Fast Pass, this extra charge won't seem to be any problem - except for those who are poor - and I really don't believe anyone cares about them (except the new Pope). Go ahead - laugh at me - and then sit back and watch it happen - VERY SOON! Mark my words. -
Very good. Thank you.

I would envision a VERY clean park, well themed, with lots of trees, shrubs and such - and the same would go for the parking lot. I think some less expensive food would be nice, and a bigger variety of foods. (there's a gold mine to be made on International Street besides pizza and ice cream). Finally, I would like to see all the rides the park EVER had, good or bad, be up and running - with no ride ever leaving the park, just new rides coming in. (the same goes for the Animal Habitat with the Monorail).

The 'add on" stuff has happened in all fields. Houses, cars, airlines, concert events, ballparks, etc. - and yes, even cell phones. Those cell phone companies are making money out the ass with everyone having to have "instant gratification" (as one poster has said) and all at your expense. So along comes amusement parks with this money making fast pass thing - at your expense. If you can't afford it, you lose. If you don't have the money, you live in a poor neighborhood, drive a puddle jumper car, sit in the bleachers (with Taylor Swift) and bring binoculars to a concert (if you even can go in the first place). Is it fair - if you have money, it doesn't seem to matter. I choose not to purchase a fast pass because I don't have the money and I fall into the bleacher section crowd. Is it fair - depends on the customer, just like all of the other things. And by the way, gang,....most amusement parks started out on a pay per ride basis - including Disney. So if it goes back to that, I believe they could make even more money, but it would cost them a bit more to add ticket sales booths, ticket takers, ticket printers, etc. - not to mention, it would slow things down when it came to ride boarding, park entrance, and all other facets of the park that were abandoned when the pay one price thing started. -

If you will look back at the thread about Fast Pass, I predicted something like this would happen - and I was laughed at! http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/24189-fast-lane/page-3?hl=%20fast%20%20pass Post #87 Stick that where the sun don't shine! -
How long has it been since you've been to Kings Island?
Hank replied to KIfan73's topic in Kings Island
3 years! -
Taking out sections and replacing them with longer, steeper, sloping, etc - this could also be done - of course then it becomes version 2!

What could be done to make a coaster run faster - assuming it was approved to do so by the manufacturer? I know about trim brakes being used to keep the coaster from beating itself up, but if it can be made to run faster, why hasn't it been done? Maybe new trains? Maybe new track? Maybe something I don't know about?

Matt Ouimet Interview
Hank replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The Crypt said..... I think a ticket to Kennywood costs less than a plane ticket. Hank then said.... Food on the table, heat, electricity, water, a car - when you don't have money $10 is a lot. Don't boo-hoo for me - just try to understand. -

I went to school. I have a degree. I've worked all of my life. I can't afford to fly, or take vacations, or go to amusement parks all summer long. Now, explain to me where I should get the money to make me (let alone my kids) happy at Cedar Point for a day. Or King's Island. Or Disney. Or Universal. Or even the aforementioned Kennywood. -
Boomerang gets a make over
Hank replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I know that Invertigo is a somewhat shocking color when you first see it, but I like it. I think it sets it apart from the other boomerang's by those colors. I am proud of it! -
All inclusive = Racer - started the current coaster craze which led to things like The Beast and taller, longer, faster coasters - both wood and steel. For me = Beast - only because if it wasn't for it, I would not have come to KI as often as I did. For those of you who are under 25 = Diamondback, only because you weren't around back when it all started.
