A clone would be identical to the original. Look closely - it's a bit different than Raptor.

Polaroid is an INSTANT picture - develops in 60 seconds. Kodak cameras were known as INSTAMATICS - the film required developing in a lab. What I often wondered, since you pre-paid for the picture on the log ride - what happened if it didn't come out? Or if a bird flew in front of the camera when the shot was being taken? Or some chick flashed her "you know whats" on the down side of the hill? (there is a web site loaded with pictures of females flashing their "you know whats" on Splash Mountain at Disney - I believe the site is called Flash Mountain!)

Wild Thornberry's had a photo thing before any other ride at the park (when it was Kings Mill). They use to put a flag on your boat if you wanted a picture and the people at the photo booth would take a Polaroid of your log as it was coming down the hill. Anyone else remember that? And as far as the pads on Reptar, they move around to accomodate various sized people, such as myself. So, I'm not complaining!

On my trip the first week of August, the Wednesday was a walk on day, but the Thursday had lines - not BAD lines, but lines. A park employee told me that usually Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are slower, and I guess I can understand that to a point. Anyway - that's my 2 cents.

I saw a big temporary tent fort the Nick parade stuff. Is this what you're talking about?

As a bit of trivia... I believe at one time the Screamin' Demon was either named or misprinted somewhere with the name Steamin' Demon. Then, they got rid of the adjective. Anyone else remember this? It might have even been printed on a park map - the ones they give you at the entrance.

I just wish those OTSHs were replaced. They're really not needed and they hurt my 6' 4" body.

There were no accidents on The Bat. It was all rumors. Also, I don't believe The Bat was as fast as Big Bad Wolf, but if not, it was close. The reason BBW "seems" so fast if due to the buildings it goes thru - and that long dive over the lake.
-
I'm sure there are other threads on this but... The Bat was a wonderful ride. The track was not banked so the cars flew around the turns at 90 degrees +. Because of "under engineering" it used a lot of shock absorbers. The brakes were on the bottom (this was a prototype) and this, along with other "let's get the bugs out" problems forced its removal after 2 years. It was a smooth, fast ride. The cars has lots of room, but they had those OTSHs on them - and really didn't need them. It was also a long ride - 2 lift hills and lots of crazy turns, swooping up and down - just like a bat!

I understand that it is to receive new paint/theme work for next year. This may just be a rumor, but it REALLY needs a coat of paint. (PKI, in case you're reading this, my favorite color is purple!)

I remember one of the small coasters being open the last time they had Winterfest. It seems to me tht more rides could be in operation - if not, be prepared for silly excuses.

Just found a new desktop picture!

I love Face Off. It is unique, as you do "face off". Yeah, the capacity sucks and the ride is short. Too bad they don't have a dual racing Face Off. It wouldn't cost that much and NO ONE ELSE would have one.

I don't want to cause a fury, but wouldn't it be "all" if Delirium had been scheduled for maintaince work and, in order to give Cedar Point "glory days" for their new Maxair - thus making it the ONLY working Huss frisbee in Ohio - Huss asked PKI if they wouldn't mind doing the work after CP had their ride up and going? After all, competition can be evil - and who else makes parts for Huss? I know it's a stretch, but...

The Beastie, then called Scooby Doo, was also open.
-
Those restraints seem like they'd be able to accomodate ALL sizes of riders - such as myself at 6' 4" and 280 pounds - 'cause as it is now, CP has almost nothing I can ride on. I could never understand that because at PKI, I can ride on everything.
-
I have been on this at KI (no P yet) in 1973. It was on the slow side and not unlike the Wildcat ride at CP. The Wildcat seemed faster. Also, the BB was a slow loading ride, as is the Wildcat.

I mean the railroad train - that goes to Boomarang Bay and back. They could do sooooooo much more with it. Come to think of it, they used to - back when the park first opened in the early 70's. They had a hold-up and the "bad guys" boarded the train, shot the sherriff (but I swear it was in self defense - apologies to Bob Marley & Eric Clapton). There was a "town" and some shoot-em-up stuff. It was a cool ride. I have home movies of this, along with all the other rides from 2nd year, and I've got to get them on the computer someday - you'd love them (especially the on ride POV of the Right Racer when it was going forwards)
-
The train. There is nothing to it.

Every time I've been to the park, the prices for these - and a lot of the games in the park - are reduced (or, for the games you'll get extra chances) near closing time, say the last hour of the day.

I hate when fathers, in line for a ride with their children, are on cell phones trading stocks. Spend the day with your family or don't go to begin with.

I will never understand why a person loves coasters, but complains that they're too rough. Solution: DON"T RIDE THEM and/or DON"T POST IN THESE KINDS OF FORUMS
-
Good job!
-
Why do they only run 2 trains? Another problem?
-
Nice shots, as are all of your pictures. Somewhere in all the pictures, I saw a couple of Vortex. I know that some of it was painted recently, but did they ever paint the entire coaster? (due to surgery, I was unable to visit the park last season) Also, when was the last time The Racer got a paint job?
