  1. When riding any coaster, don't tense up. Relax and enjoy the ride (unless you are on a coaster that used to exist at KI - whose name will not be said in order to prevent this entire thread from becoming yet another "forum" for the dislike or like of said machine, and some KICers have "battle scars" from that contraption - they no longer think ANYTHING is rough!).
  2. Maybe we're getting a re-themed Disaster Transport? "Camp Disasterous"
  3. ^ or not inflated at all! BGT used to have a tour of the beer factory (they still may, but I haven't been there in many years) and you could get a free sample of beer after the tour. There was a patio where you could sit - and you could purchase more beer and small pepperoni pizzas. White sitting, enjoying the beer and pizza, the seagulls would swoop down and try to pick-off the pepperoni! Often times they were more than successful and got most of the pizza too. Then they would fight over who got to eat it. i tell this because I once saw a guy go back up to the counter and demand another pizza since the gulls had taken his. He got quite belligerent and security came and took him away (probably sent him to Little Caesars).

I am hopeful that some of the strategies that will emanate from this man will help to make the park a little less helter skelter.
  5. I'm sorry - but with such an investment and planning of Gatekeeper, it had to be started under the former regime - not Mr. Quimet.
  6. It's a new merry-go-round - with dinosaur figures that make terrifyingly loud noises as they go up and down. The stationary seats are in the shape of tents. You just never know!
  7. "No One Needs To Know" by Shania Twain
  8. This was also reported to me via my close friend who overheard a conversation on the Eiffel Tower on June 11th ......a reply to the "what are they building" question, answered by the elevator ride op. I, too, chuckled at DiamondbackGirl's post, but then I heard it this second time. Now I don't know whether to laugh or cry?
  9. Coming back to the name Banshee.... This was to be used for the stand-up coaster, Mantis, until "other thinking" made the powers that be change their minds. Because of this, was not the name Banshee registered/patented/copyrighted by Cedar Fair back then? If so, why would that name just now be submitted for a trademark?
  10. .....a different take on that "High Five" coaster?
  11. KI is getting a flyer???? A REAL wing-rider! (the first of it's kind - literally)
  12. If the attraction used trains made to look like Winnebagos......
  13. We are not close to that stage yet. Yet....... The SoB topics are so numerous over many years & have so much imagination in their contents, it would be of epic proportions to reach an "SoB topic status". I have felt for many years that the KIC community would not be where it's at without SoB to discuss. ThrillNetwork used to have lots of posts each day - now it's down to a trickle. Reason = everyone's here! (and we're all a bunch of SOB's - if you know what I mean
  14. You forgot bone chilling screams (most of which come from reading outlandish posts to this topic!)
  15. .....and my grass grew another inch with the precipitation last evening.
  16. Oh, for god's sake, I tell you! Instant news no matter how insignificant. What they really should be reporting on is the slow-death sinking of Vortex!
  17. You don't like Mean Streak? I'm cutting you out of my will! No - that's a nice TR. Glad you had a good time.
  18. When I was typing early this morning, something in my head was telling me I had it wrong - and I did. Cedar Point had Pepsi and that's where I heard the rumor. As far as the blue ice cream, yes, legally it is ice cream - but I'm trying to find the archives on this site for we had quite a discussion about this not all that long ago. If someone can tell me how to get to the archives, I will try to find those posts. Alas, I have no more fuzz in my own bellybutton to ponder - and I stand corrected, with my tail between my legs.
  19. I really haven't been to many water parks, mainly because I'm diabetic and I have to be really careful with my feet - must wear water shoes, but even then, they get sloshy and cause blisters which, in turn, usually get infected - or they will halt the rest of my day at the park. With that, I think the park at KI is very good. The Disney World parks are very nice. I guess i would rate them the best. Great Wolf is nice for indoors but I've never been to Kalahari so I really cannot compare. In case anyone cares.....if you're ever up Frankenmuth Michigan way, Zehnder's Splash Village hotel/indoor water park is very nice - and they are expanding! The rooms are simply beautiful and the water area is spit-spot, Mary Poppins clean.
  20. I don't know if these fall under "strictly rumors", but I had heard in past years from various KI employees that many park patrons were very unhappy about Pepsi being served at the eateries. Now, I don't want you to start the "Pepsi is better than Coke/Coke is better than Pepsi" argument, but the park did change to Coke and I have doubts as to park guests not wanting the other contributing greatly to the decision - it's all a business deal. However....it would be interesting to know if more Coke is sold on any given day than Pepsi once was on any similar day, if such information exists. The other kinda/sorta rumor I've heard - even mentioned on this very site - is that the blue, soft-serve ice cream is not really ice cream. This is true, but what it really is, I believe, is still considered ice cream by many. This stuff, in various flavors, is sold across the globe and people know it as ice cream. There used to be an ice cream parlor, here in Toledo, called Stroh's (just like the beer), that served real ice cream. I was given a tour of the place and saw for myself the raw ingredients that went into making real ice cream. I doubt any of the soft-serve stuff has any of these items in their mixes, with the exception of milk, yet it all falls under the name of ice cream. So you see - these quasi-rumors exist but are not dwelt upon such as the story of the sinking Bat replacement or the deaths on the former coaster. I hope this gives you all something to think about as you ponder the fuzz in your bellybuttons.
  21. I've been up and down I-71 several times in the past few weeks. If THAT means ANYTHING, the new attraction will be: Construction Zone: The Ride
  22. There needs to be space for some kind of concession stand because (here comes that infamous quote) "Hey, you gotta eat". And, if my prediction holds true and we get a terrain hugging contraption, reliability should be pretty good - no major hills to climb!
  23. I have no problems with any of the restraints however, trying to buckle the seat belt if almost impossible for me (even in an automobile). It has nothing to do with my size, it has to do with not being able to turn to the side very well. Some ride opps will help or let my riding partner help, but some are real a-holes and refuse to provide any assistance - even after confirming that I fit perfectly in the test seat - nor will they allow anyone to help me. So now - should the ride opps help or not? Where do you "draw the line in the sand?" Tread carefully my friends!
  24. Prototype - multi-launch, terrain-hugging invert with rolls, loops, and some "new element" that NO ONE (except CF hierarchy) has ever seen before. And......it probably won't run properly and will need to be taken down before Vortex has sunk another foot and a half and the Eiffel Tower is moved across the street (to the vacant cinema lot) to make room for additions to the fountains and a place to host Luminosity, which will be coming to all CF parks soon.
  25. See - us "old foegy's" still have some cool ideas!
