  1. http://www.toledonewsnow.com/story/20505172/arrests-made-in-prehistoric-forest-site-vandalism I just hate when these things happen. A lot of people visit these little places and return each year to see them. They are fast becoming few and far between and even with insurance paying to repair the damage, some of the owners are just closing the attractions - they've put in their time and now's a chance to relax. Your thoughts.........
  2. sorry for the double post - computer is crazy today..
  3. The last little dip - I'll call it a double drop - is the best part of the ride for me.
  4. You wouldn't recognize me - I look totally different in sunglasses, in a bathing suit, or both!
  5. I remember when Chevy named their car the Citation - only you couldn't go fast enough in one to actually get a citation!
  6. I would like to see them relocate the Big Dipper to KI. That would give us a woodie and provide tradition. Then, my feelings are leaning towards a massive steel coaster which, like The Beast, is terrain hugging, and would be VERY highly themed (tunnels, water, underground, etc.). Speed - either natural or launch-helped, should be incorporated, and I would prefer no inversions. The type of trains on the steel coaster doesn't matter to me, but I really like what was done at Kennywood with Phantom's Revenge's safety bars. I would like to see this coaster break records for length and speed and it would be nice to see if it could possibly be operated in various types of weather conditions - even allowing operation during Winterfest! The other Idea I have is a launched wooden coaster - first of its kind, at least for a month or two until someone else steals my idea..
  7. July 1982. Rode The Bat several times - totally new experience! Rode The Beast for the first time & came off of it shaking - still do to this day! Took my very first #2 at an amusement park that day (could have been from The Beast shaking me up). The weather was perfect, the park not too crowded, and was with 3 friends - all of us had a great, no, make that outstanding time! The other time, which was equally as memorable, was in July of 2010. I was with my daughter and met up with a KIC member or two and, since I had to use my walker, we were able to access rides via the exit gate (of the ride), thus avoiding the long queue lines. A simply marvelous time - 2 days - with absolutely gorgeous weather, and except for puking after riding Delirium for the first time, everything was perfect. I would imagine that future visits will also be awesome, but I will have to use my walker from now on which can be a bit frustrating whilst navigating through crowds. I need a loud, dual-note horn and a shirt with a big orange triangle on the back!

    Merry Christmas!

I understand the snow drifts at Cedar Point were tall enough to ride the Magnum!
  9. Another thing - put yourself in Mr. Q's shoes......how much would you do his job for?
  10. I know - ans sometimes I can be a real a-hole. I repeat...Jim Morrison said it years ago.......People are strange
  11. Half of May, weekends only in September and October - so I'll keep to my three month "try to keep a business open in Sandusky" phrase.
  12. It's like the guy who owns a car wash - on a good day, he's got a line to get in and the passerbys say "He's got a gold mine there, making money hand over fist". But when the weather is lousy, he's closed - the same people don't say, "Oh, I feel so sorry for him, not being able to work". No - they don't even notice a thing. So the park is open 3 months out of the year and the city of Sandusky basically "lives" for those three months. Don't believe me - drive through the town during the off season - almost everything is closed. What keeps it going? General Motors? Hell no! It's Cedar Point. Jim Morrison said it years ago....."People are strange"

    Merry Christmas!

I want Winterfest - it could even be after the Holidays when everyone is bored stiff out of their minds. I realize it could be iffy, but, hey, the Toledo Zoo has Frozen Toezen in January & February and it's very well attended. Ice carving, other winter stuff - even a man made sledding hill. People who are creative need to be consulted. My email address is........

    Merry Christmas!

Thanks, Don. Wesolych Swiat Bozego Narodzenia (Polish, meaning happiness to you (or joy) Jesus is born) Boldog Karácsonyt (Hungarian, meaning Merry Christmas)
  15. removed - problem solved. Thank you!
  16. How often do the "who-evers" measure the speed of roller coasters? Is this only done when the coaster first opens? If so, maybe it's time to get a new reading. Also, who are the "who-evers"?
  17. Are there any pics of the empty space? I know the ET camera is not on, but maybe someone flew over the site or got pics from GWL.
  18. Maybe they could build a coaster that would follow a giant Dolly Parton's body form. It would have a couple of really big hills, have a lot of shaking built into it, and it would only be open 9 to 5. Oh, also, it would have a short duration of a ride time.
  19. This is what they made Chevy Vega engines out of, but that, too, was many, many years ago!
  20. Quite a deal was made about this ride - I recall seeing many stories on the TV, and I'm in Toledo, Ohio! Anyway, I have a couple of POV videos of this ride, which I thought looked so cool, but you can't tell the ride experience from a POV video. It's a shame that some ideas just don't transfer well from drawings to reality, and it was a shame that such a beautiful looking coaster had to be destroyed. I would have bought it if I'd of had the funds - and of course if I had the funds for that, I'd have the funds for land to put it on. Having said all of that, it reminds me of what Kennywood did to Steel Phantom. They hired Morgan to come in and re-do 7/8 of the coaster, removing the awkward parts & loops, making it a non-inversion ride - but a wonderful non-inversion ride!
  21. Any idea how much these new Timberliners cost? If they are more than a buck or two, maybe it's just not in the budget - remember, they have added quite a bit as of late and since Voyage is running....if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
  22. I also can't wait to check out the restrooms to see if the toilets really do spin the water backwards when flushed!
  23. Yahoo has just posted this.... http://screen.yahoo.com/chinese-theme-park-australia-001009092.html
