  1. I know there were problems with Avalanche Run/Disaster Transport from sand on the beach blowing on to the track. I ran across another bobsled coaster - this one in France - which seems to have a perforated track which would allow sand, water, and other debris to fall through. Was this a later innovation or simply just a different design? This particular coaster also seems longer in length and a bit faster in speed. Below are links to RCDB and YouTube for the Trace Du Hourra coaster http://www.rcdb.com/1038.htm
  2. I have ridden it as Avalanche Run & DT. I did not care for the inside experience. Although I liked the ride, it was too slow. It's a shame that having a variety of coasters in not in the plans for Cedar Point. I realize a new type of coaster will probably be installed soon, but there are not many bobsled coasters left - and Flying Turns hasn't even opened yet.
  3. Etchings of X-rays showing broken vertebrae, cracked ribs, and MRI's of supposed busted blood vessels.
  4. Even though I had mixed feelings about the ride, one thing I can say about SOB was that is was a beautiful looking coaster - just like Mean Streak is beautiful to look at. I hope that if another coaster is built in SOB's place, it's aesthetics are also pleasing to the eye, unlike some of the newer coasters.
  5. I believe there is a Paul Simon song - "Everything put together sooner or later falls apart". In this case, it was sooner.
  6. Terrain is a big deal at KI. The Beast, SOB, Flight Deck, AE, Whitewater Canyon - all take advantage of the acreage's terrain. Maybe this could be a better focus for you.
  7. If it were going to Italy, would it have an Italian Job number? sorry - just had to!
  8. I received an email from KI today about a one day "Christmas In July" type sale on one day tickets for the park. No big deal, BUT - near the bottom of the page, therre is a pic of the train in winter with snow on the ground. Is this a foreshadowing of something? http://parkfeedback.com/read/archive?id=4673&e=rybaczewski%40ameritech%2enet&x=09cf04d1
  9. I'll say it again.....Red Gold to the rescue! (sorry - I just like Heinz better)

    Racer

Zippin Pippin is now Thunderbolt. Just an aside about Jack Rabbit..... I got on the ride not knowing a thing about it. Thought it was no big deal, but a fun coaster to be on because of its age - but then came that double down and wow! The people on the train got quiet - I guess they weren't expecting it either. I started to wonder if that's the kind of quiet train that happened when the wood gave way on SOB?

Post #3 and we're at SOB - a new record!
  12. I'd like an app for my Smartphone to let me know where the most recently cleaned restroom is.
  13. This is post #12 and no mention of SOB yet. oooops!
  14. You ought to run for President!
  15. Ah, now I can clearly see what life is all about.
  16. ^ First of all, she's not a bro. Secondly, I agree - you've got to be rich to ENJOY the day at the park when it's jammed. Just not fair. Money is tight for a lot of people and we get season passes for entertainment use - we can't afford cable/dish so we spend our hard earned money at KI. Why should we have to pay extra for anything? I honestly think the fast pass is a bunch of crap and I wish parks would have never started them!
  17. As I said before, this is gonna turn into a Sneetches scenario - some have stars on thars and others are gonna want stars too!
  18. I can hear the Hoover running........
  19. And some of the Diamondback "clues" had nothing to do with the ride....i.e. - ride, sally, ride
  20. Maybe they should make a ride inspired by CF's former CEO. Call it "Kinzel - The Ride". It will have its ups and downs but the end is rich. At first, people will like the new ride, but as the years past, coaster enthusiasts will despise it. Build it in the main parking lot so it can be viewed from the chaussee, along with the Magnum XL-200. AND - if it were a twin, racing coaster, make sure the one side can't see the other, and vise-versa, the entire ride. Then, when the riders are leaving the station, they can ask the other trains' riders, "Have we met yet?".
  21. Say, "Bye-bye", to the dinos (I believe they will be gone soon) and use the space spanning from SOB all the way back to The Racer's turnarounds.

    Screamscape.

To me, screamscape is CP's manicured coast line. That's all!
  23. Yes, it was a dumb thing to do. It doesn't look as though that ski lift is very high off the ground. Maybe that's why she decided to jump - and below her was a sandy beach. The story mentions that the ride ops did not know someone had jumped off. How could they, unless there were cameras or some other special devices installed to monitor those things (I guess that now, you're gonna see cameras and other devices because someone will talk that girl into filing a lawsuit stating the ride should have been closed due to bad weather. This is almost the same as another thread that's currently running about amputees not being allowed to ride a coaster - lawsuits have been filed because of discrimination and lawsuits could have been filed if those amputees would have fallen off of the ride. Darned if you do, darned if you don't.)

    Beast Brakes

There has been discussion of The Beast's brakes - both trim brakes and final brakes - but I have a question which I believe was never talked about..... Since The Beast gets constant maintenance, both new wood and new track, why is it still necessary for the trim brakes, which I was told were installed so the coaster won't beat itself up? Continuous repair and/or replacement of wood and track would seem to me to be preventing the beating. This question especially applies to the brake on the hill after the first tunnel. (I am aware that when first built, there were no trims in the "turnstile" - or, at least, they weren't functioning as the test riders claimed they flew through that "shed", and the video of the testing shows that there were no brakes on the entrance to the helix.)
