First of all, I've got donniejb beat by a few years. Secondly, I have 8mm movies taken by myself on the right side of The Racer in 1975. I have them transfered to VHS but I don't know how to get them online. They're great movies - other rides too! Someone let me know how to do this.

Sandusky and Cedar Fair

But Mr. Kinzel has residence across from the park, too - and you can see the sun rise and set very well from his point of view! -
Sandusky and Cedar Fair
Hank replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
There are lots of advantages to Sandusky. One is the airport right across from CP - on the mainland. Another is a central loaction to CP, KI, GL, & MA -and not that far from Canada. Good Highway access, too! -
If and when KI gets a new coaster (you never know what else may show up from some defunct park i.e. Geauga Lake) I think it will be something totally different than anything else out there - regardless who makes it. So, start thinking outside the box!

I'll wait to hear it from Mr. Kinzel or one of his loyal hentchmen!

Has this forward/backward thing been OFFICIALLY DECLARED by King's Island yet, or is this all rumor?

Three years ago, I knew nothing about Downtown Disney. Even after serious planning for our week's vacation, DD was just another shopping place in my mind. Boy, was I wrong. Granted, there is a lot of shopping, but there's so much to just see and so many places to eat. I imagine it has grown since, but we won't be able to visit again until next Spring. As with Animal Kingdom, we'll have to put aside more time (and money) for a good DD experience.

No - just the kid's one.

I just parused the KI website, looking especially at The Racer, and I see it no longer mentions anything about a backwards train anymore. I know this has been brought up as a rumor, but what I read is in print. HOWEVER - if you go to the Media Center and look at the ride descriptions, it mentions that one of the trains was turned in 1982 etc. I dunno!

Put in a "Spaghetti Vendor" and cleverly call it Italian Job!

King's Island - where the only REALLY new thing is our sign!

Cedar Fair changed the name of Face Off to Invertigo. The name Invertigo was assigned to a ride at Cedar Point - a ride that virtually fell apart in the winter months and was removed. I wonder if CF owns the name Invertigo or has an exclusive use contract - however, I think the original Invertigo was made by S&S, not Vekoma.

Press Release: Kings Island 2008 Entertainment Auditions

I'm too tall to ride on the rides and too tall to fit in a character suit! -
I'm still P. O.'d about FAIRLY ODD COASTER!
-
I think it's an old prank left by Paramount before they handed the keys to Cedar Fair; the parking light sign and The Beast's lift hill lights are on the same line - one goes out, they all go out! darn that Paramount!!!!
-
^ Well I'll be a sonofabi***!!!! OK - but it would still be a first for a Cedar Fair park.
-
Ya know, they could enclose the entire ride - it's small enough - and it would be the 1st enclosed wooden coaster anywhere! THEN it could be "Flight of Fear Jr.". Even though I too am 6' 4" and 280 lbs., I nvere miss this ride. It was the VERY FIRST coaster I ever filmed while riding - back in 1975 - with an 8mm movie camera. And it was yellow back then!

A very simple thing...KEEP IT DARK WHILE RIDING!!!!!!

Led Zeppelin testing video
Hank replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^ I'm glad you love me! I'm not gonna spend my hard earned money to ride some "clone" no matter what the color scheme is. It's like driving GM's cookie cutter cars - they're all alike except for different trim and extra pieces of sound insulation under the rug. There are too many parks and they are charging too much - food included. They're already starting to lose money. So until something radical comes along, bah-humbug to the same old things. -

BORING, BORING, BORING!!! When is someone gonna do something different? -
^ you could make several of these things with the metal from the Eiffel Tower - plus, it could have an elevator lift (no reason for it, but hey - that's how you could get you ups and downs!)
-
So is that one of the "transplants" from Geauga Lake? Does it have any heighth restrictions? Any OTSHs? On-ride photo? Does it go backwards too? (give The Racer a run for its money) Could it be enclosed - would make a cool sibling for Flight of Fear? Make one bigger, rougher and more bumpy and call it Son of....

They certainly could be - quite possibly they are. You know The Bat's brakes were under the cars, so if these were The Bat's cars, they have been modified. I also noticed that there are only 2 shock absorbers on each side of the car - as were The Bat's - but I'm sure that the Vampire's track has been banked to reduce stress on those babies - and they don't have to worry about replacing them 4 times a day! And hey - both bats and vampires like blood so why not be interchangable! Good catch, Mr. Fudd!

Screamscape rumor of coaster removal at Cedar Point
Hank replied to raptor's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
A good thing to look at is variety. Removing DT would take away a bobsled coaster. Removing CCMR takes away a mine train. And the hits just keep on coming. HOWEVER - Corkscrew has it's elements more or less duplicated by several other rides in the park. It's no longer needed because it's not unique like it once was. I'll wait and see what really happens - if anything. This is just my never humble opinion!
