Racer to run Backwards and Beast trimless
Losantiville Mining Co. replied to disco2000's topic in Kings Island
There's certainly some amount of room on the bottom (long closed) observation deck, but that would surely be too good of an experience for the park to offer (/s). Also, I know Six Flags is purging a lot of employees, but is there really nobody in the office who can photoshop something over a real picture of the Eiffel Tower? I can't dictate if places are allowed to use AI to make stuff, but Cedar Point's April Fools joke looked like it had a little more effort put into the images than just typing the prompt, generating, and posting. Despite all of the AI, I did enjoy the April Fools joke on the Season Passholder page as well lol. -
It was a little confusing trying to figure out how the queue line moves through the ride layout. The way the FastLane line and standard line both go under the tilt made me think they were connected horizontally and not vertically. It's interesting to see how the FastLane queue has a little cattle pen area as well. The fact that almost the entire queue is also under the coaster will be very interesting to experience, especially the little bridge over the track.

Kings Island General Discussion 2025
Losantiville Mining Co. replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
I got bored and did a cost breakdown comparing 1 day at Epic Universe to 1 day at Kings Island to a Kings Island Gold Pass and thought I'd share it here. I looked it up and here's the math for a Saturday 6/14 visit for anyone who's curious: 1 Single Day Epic Universe Ticket $179.00 1 Single Day Epic Universe Express Pass $239.00 Tax (calculated at checkout) $27.24 TOTAL COST: $446.23 That's nearly $500 for one person, not including travel, hotel, parking, food & beverage, or any other expenses. Everything was about $50-100 higher than the listed "Starting from" price. Not gonna lie, I expected it to be expensive, but it makes me happier about that being the same price for a Kings Island All Park Gold Pass with some of the bells and whistles on it. That cost breakdown for the same day at Kings Island is currently: 1 2025 Single Day Admission to Kings Island $55.00 (online price) 1 all day Fast Lane wristband $135.00 1 2025 Premium All Day Dining $45.99 1 2025 Single Day Parking $30.00 Processing Fee $8.99 Tax (calculated at checkout) $3.10 TOTAL COST: $278.08 And lastly for those wondering what you can get for $14 more than the price of admission to Epic Universe with an Express Pass, a new Gold Pass with the All Park Passport, Gold All Season Dining—All Park, and Drink Plan Plus Paper Cup is only $460.63 at checkout! That's for access to all Six Flags parks with food and beverage included for a good number of them. I'm not going to say they are even close to comparable experiences, but this just reinforced for me how good of a deal this is. -
Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
Losantiville Mining Co. replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
My thoughts exactly! Having all of the parks on one app is very nice, but the current Six Flags app does not work well for me. I'm very biased on this though, so I might have my rose colored glasses on. The best case scenario for having multiple parks on one app would be to separate it by the park regions. I downloaded the Schlitterbahn app to look at their maps and found out that they have both of those parks on there. It still works very well and looks good. Looking at Great Adventure's opening day as well, it's obvious that the Cedar Fair part of the new Six Flags is the dominant one by far. The new map (why do none of them have trees??? just turn on the tree layer I know it exists!!!), the new Coke Refresh stations, the Sweet Spot(s), signage, and the new Great Adventure logo at the front of that park are all in the CF style. -
Soak City 2025 Construction Updates
Losantiville Mining Co. replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
There is, at least in some parts of the construction world, a completion date clause in the contracts where if substantial completion is not done by a set date/timeline then the company has to pay/give a discount to the client. I don't know that it's a common practice, but that would give some incentive to have work done by opening day. I get the feeling that it's more to do with either a new Six Flags policy/practice (or lack thereof) that says it's fine if work is not completed by opening day. Part of it this year could be growing pains. So much reshuffling going on, it's probably easier to not push strict attraction completion dates until a little after park opening. -
Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
Losantiville Mining Co. replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I wonder how long it will take to merge the two companies systems together. The park mobile apps, pass add-ons, and common offerings seem like things that should be standardized as quickly as possible. Something like FunPix might be a little harder to change since it is based through a third-party (Colorvision International) and PicturePass looks to be done in-house. Fast Lane and Flash Pass might also be lower priority. The mobile apps and websites take some time to develop and change, but at least the framework already exists. I also can't imagine a world in which the Six Flags season pass memberships survive as they currently exist without being brought to other parks. I think I can understand what they're meant to be, but the ticket systems should be more consistent than not. One thought that I haven't seen too much conversation about is this: Does the new Six Flags want to market itself as one big cohesive chain of 42 parks and resorts, or does it want to be seen at the level of individual regions or parks? The pre-merger Six Flags did the first idea. Almost every park was branded using the Six Flags name, there was (and so far still is) one mobile app for all parks, and each park seemed to be the same in terms of how people perceived the company. The pre-merger Cedar Fair did the second idea. While each park offered the same branding and experiences, park names did not include "Cedar Fair", each park got its own mobile app, and, despite having the same baseline factors, each park retained its own distinct identity. Having said all of this, the new Six Flags definitely still feels like it is two separate companies at the guest experience level. Getting into all of the parks is about the only thing guests can do on one All-Park pass. We'll see how much might be changing as more parks open for the season, but I don't think we'll see too much change until after July. Even then, 2026 will hopefully see a turning point for the better where everything is more stable and standardized. I could be talking complete nonsense throughout this post — I just want to be able to use my meal plan everywhere I go. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. -
It is a little interesting that this press release pointed out SF Great America's 50th anniversary, but didn't say anything about a celebration at California's Great America. Now, only 9 out of the 27 Six Flags amusement parks were listed, but I wonder if this will turn out to have been another indication about how soon CGA will close. At this point I'm just more curious as to what the parks will look like as the merger continues. Will we see the Cedar Fair style 50th celebration at SF Great America? Will their new kids area be Peanuts, DC Comics, or Looney Tunes? Will Carowinds and Canada's Wonderland's record-breaking water attractions be clones or will they be special in their own ways? Will Knott's Soak City's refresh be like South Bay Shores or Kings Island's Soak City refresh (barring the potential for SBS signs and stuff to just be moved to Knott's)? Will we see another good thrill coaster at Kings Island after this family thrill attraction? I ask too many questions.

Soak City 2025 Construction Updates

Is there a reason why there is a fence by the wave pools? I think I've seen people post about it but I haven't gone to Soak City in years. -

I've always thought Kings Island could use a Derby Racer there like Cedar Point has (even though I don't think anyone makes those anymore). -
Kings Island General Discussion 2025
Losantiville Mining Co. replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
According to Google Maps, the stated size of the structure would fit into this space. I did not draw a good circle but this shows the amount of space it could take up. -
It looks like the page has been completely deleted and is not just temporarily hidden. Adding /summerbration (which normally works for hidden pages) returns an error 404. I wonder if the event is being moved to a different park or needs to be reworked to a point where it had to be taken off the events lineup. Worst case scenario, it's flat out gone and Carowinds has to rely on their other 7 events to bring people in.

Kings Island General Discussion 2025
Losantiville Mining Co. replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
This seems like a similar structure to the one in Action Zone (although with a different canopy setup). I'd hope they will keep it up all season and use it as a general seating space. My biggest complaint for it will be if they remove all of the trees from that space. Those paths are already so barren in spots so I'd hate to see more be taken out. -
A Kings Island behind the scenes tour of the KI&MVRR would probably be one of the most beautiful and scenic tours that I would spend good money to do. It also seems like a somewhat easy tour to do (?) seeing as you'd just walk along the track, stop at some waypoints (let one person move the turtle), tour the engine house, and maybe end with being the first train of the day. Bonus feature: each participant gets to have a drink from the Coke Freestyle in the train station.

Consider this a place to generally discuss things that are happening around the new Six Flags chain that might not be quote-unquote "worthy" of their own topic(s). Six Flags Great Adventure released a new version of their mobile app park map today, with the notable changes being the ride removals. There is a fun spot on the map near the left of Superman: Ultimate Flight where you can still see the outline of some of Green Lantern in the trees. I did hear that the main park map will allegedly look different this year, but I haven't seen anything official. Does this mean we will start to see more Cedar Fair new-style maps across the chain this year? Who knows. Canada's Wonderland may be getting some new food options this season. Six Flags Over Georgia seems to be building a new drink bottle program where guests scan their bottle (similar to how it works at some Universal properties), potentially replacing the need for every drink station to be constantly staffed. I think the Nighthawk Pathway might be opened back up once all of the demolition work is done. Whether or not the park will put up a ton of fencing or just leave it open is in the air, but I think the park is also looking at how guest flow ends up while its closed. Personally, I'd like to see the paddleboat return, but anything is possible. Lastly for anyone wondering, you can add your All Park Passport to the Six Flags app. It will show up as a "Daily Ticket", but it's there. Exciting times!

(Sorry for multi-posting!) In an interview with Amusement Insiders, Grace Peacock (Director of Communications for the Midwest Region For Six Flags / former PR Director for Canada's Wonderland) shared that more information about this year's events programming at Canada's Wonderland will be shared in April. There is also talk of a new AlpenFest event coming within the next few seasons. Source: "Canada's Wonderland AlpenFury Park Interviews" from Amusement Insiders on YouTube. Question is asked at 16:04 / 20:55 in the video.

Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
Losantiville Mining Co. replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I have a feeling that a good number of these ride removals are — as has been said here before — mostly a product of the chain choosing between closure and deferred maintenance. The former is always upsetting and consistently leads to bad vibes, but the latter is dangerous when it goes on for too long. I'm by no means an apologist for the chain (see my other posts on this website), but I know that the removals mean more resources are freed up overall with potential for bigger gains in the future. Now, on the topic of Cedar Point: I think it had the least amount of deferred maintenance (whether by being the golden park or not) and therefore did not see as many disruptions to its lineup. It had a flat, sizeable plot of land where a new coaster could be built. It also had a "New for 2024!" coaster that was SBNO for almost the entire season and needed something to make up for that. The stars may have aligned for the park to get Siren's Curse, but I don't think it was explicit favoritism. If I was in charge of the new Six Flags I'd look into making Carowinds and Canada's Wonderland into my Top 2 golden eastern parks since they are very highly attended and can be open a lot longer than Cedar Point can be. So far, Kings Island has lost Firehawk (replaced in a timely manner by a giga coaster), Vortex (park management decision which they regretted making), Slingshot (replaced by two new non-upcharge flat rides), and Xtreme Skyflyer (an upcharge attraction that is being removed from many other parks). KI has been extremely lucky throughout this merger process. Sidenote: has anyone else noticed that the (Legacy Cedar Fair) parks that lost a major coaster kept their Skyflyer (Carowinds, KD) while the parks that did not lose a major coaster lost their Skyflyer (CP, KI)? -
How many times have you ridden Windseeker?!?!
Losantiville Mining Co. replied to a topic in Kings Island
I think I've ridden WindSeeker two or three times. It's fun and I like getting the views of the park, but I think I'd like to slim down a little before I think about riding it again. -
Hi everyone! If anyone can help me find concept art for Kings Island (and its sister parks) from throughout the years, I'd really appreciate it! As some of you may know, I'm trying my hand at designing a new Taft/KECO park and I think it would be a great place to incorporate some details that could have gone into Kings Island, Kings Dominion, Carowinds, and Canada's Wonderland. Think of this as a cool collective park history project! I've seen the pieces that were in one of the books from 2022, as well as some of the ones posted here on KIC. Whether you can help gather pictures, links to websites, concepts that were proposed, concepts that changed, and/or things that were officially built — anything and everything will be greatly appreciated. Older pictures, more recent pictures, or pictures from the Paramount era, I'm a visual learner. Feel free to also share existing topics and other pictures here on KIC that I probably missed in my search. Much thanks!

Kings Island General Discussion 2025
Losantiville Mining Co. replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
Paramount? In my Kings Island? It's more likely than you think. Jokes aside, I wonder what color everything will be when they're done. The roofing is that nice patina, but the wood trim looks like it will stay the same unless they paint it before Opening Day. I'm also curious as to what the new KI Trading Company facade looks like. The plans looked nice and only make me more excited for the next four weeks to go by quickly! -
The shows are also a great benefit for the people who come to the park and can't ride the rides or roller coasters for one reason or another. Also, more shows means higher capacity/more people who aren't clogging up (respectfully) ride queues for around 30 minutes, improving the overall guest experience. Either way, I think I'd like to hear someone/a group perform a lot more than I'd like to listen to the playlists that repeat far too quickly or are way too short for what they need to be.

Any major takeaways after going through all of the park websites? Well, firstly, Six Flags has a lot of parks and a lot of events. Some of the waterparks even have events. A number of events have been brought across the divide between the two former chains, like Summerbration, Viva La Fiesta, Tricks and Treats, and Winterfest. There were also a number of notable events missing from the overall lineup. Both Canada's Wonderland and Valleyfair should have some events, but it looks like they haven't released their lineups yet. California's Great America announced that it will have 0 events in 2025 — although I think anything from its events are being taken to other parks like SFDK. I don't know anything about events at Six Flags Darien Lake or La Ronde, so those may also be strange or not. This really shows that we're still in a transition period between the Legacy Cedar Fair and Legacy Six Flags. I think we will continue to see more shifts as the seasons go on, in addition to possibly having a special celebration next July for the United States Quarter-Millennial anniversary. Resources may be shared, events may go between more parks, and (if the terrible rumors come true) some parks may be sold off. I'm hopeful that California's Great America can hold their own 50th anniversary celebration alongside Six Flags Great America in 2026.

Thought it might be a good idea to do another comprehensive list of events announced across the chain so far. I'm going to use bullet points for ease of reading, so buckle up for a long post. Opening Day events are not listed. Otherwise, if it's listed as an "event" on the park's website, it's here. My top three locations would be: a new stage across from The Beast's entrance similar to the Back Porch Stage that used to be where Diamondback's station is built alongside a new plaza expansion back there the International Bandstand the spot near Mercado where the stage normally is during Winterfest A bonus one would be across from the Soak City VIP lounge. This would add one more thing for people to do in Soak City — even though people don't normally go to a waterpark expecting to watch live music. It looks like Cedar Point has one stage outside Hotel Breakers.
