  1. Yes and no. Carowinds had two railroads when the park opened in 1973. The Carowinds & Carolina Railroad, a Crown Metal Products 36" Gauge railroad in which the engine at Neverland, and another engine(#1- Melodia) ran. In addition, Carowinds still operates a 24" gauge Crown Metal train under the name "Dora the Explorer's Azul Adventure". Carowinds & Carolina was removed in after the 1976 season, possibly for the addition of White Lightnin'.
  2. The train that runs on the railroad is Engine #2 from Carowinds. Poor engine, I wish Carowinds would being the railroad back.
  3. Wasn't there an annoucement a while back that they were going to start building Antique Carousels again? If so, I need to start saving money because I want one before I die. My screenname should be CarouselNut cause I love antique carousels.
  4. Which reminds me, I was also told that the Scooby-Doo walkaround license expires after the 2006 season. I may have been given false information however, but Scooby is still walking at Carowinds. Maybe Cedar Fair renewed the license for Scooby-Doo and the other HB characters. I remember this because it is the reason I took a picture with Scooby-Doo and almost brought the one the park took.
  5. Carowinds does bring Yogi Bear out in Endless Summer for some odd reason. It doesn't make sense why when they don't let the HB characters walk around the park. I was told that Carowinds threw out all costume except for Scooby-Doo, but apparently not unless Cedar Fair brought a new Yogi.
  6. I am confused, why would a contract all of sudden have an expiration date just because the company changed parent companies, and the name was changed.
  7. The license for Hanna-Barbera has not expired, Canada's Wonderland still has Hanna-Barbera Land, and Kings Dominion still has Boo-Boo, Top Cat, Touche Turtle, and more in Kidzville. The agreement is that the first four KECO parks have never ending rights to use the Hanna-Barbera characters. The license was agreed upon in 1984, and is still in effect at all four parks included in the agreement. Great America is not included in the agreement because it wasn't until 1985 that Great America was brought by Santa Clara, and KECO was brought in to run the park. Also, Wonderland Sydney was not included in the agreement either. Great America and Wonderland Sydney may have been added on when they opened, but I would imagine at a fee that was either really high or they were given a separate agreement for x amount of time. Wonderland Sydney used the HB characters for 19 seasons. I would imagine that if an separate agreement was reached for GA and WS(AW) that it would be for 10, 20, 25, 30, or 50 years. GA was passed the first two. With 25 coming 2010. Source: http://timelines.home.insightbb.com/taft.htm
  8. What fatal accident on Galaxi? Shockwave has had two or three.
  9. Stupid question, what about the Switchback Railway coasters in the 1880s?
  10. Didn't rides like Scrambler, Monster, Zephyr, etc use to be considered as thrill rides? If so, this goes to show how much our thrill factor has went up since the 1970s.
  11. A ladder, I have seen inside of the Carowinds Drop Zone.
  12. The three closest to the middle looks more like Space Spiral, Wicked Twister, and Giant Wheel to me. I do see Dominator, and a vekoma invert however. I see no irony, I see CP in the middle. I also see the possibility that someone is messing with our minds thru the skyline. The coaster on the left looks like Firehawk to me. If you look close the impulse coaster's rear spike is twisted.
  13. Source: www.rcdb.com ~ Carowinds.com Most of it was built over water however, here you see that it has footer on the "island". Again, there are steps near it. Which appear to be inside the sphere. I have no clue how big the sphere is.
  14. The BORG station looks just about like the Stealth station did. It is pretty a big gray building, it is open on all sides except the operator booth. The roof has two separate piecces, and one side is higher than the other. The hardest part of retheming BORG will be (if they do it) the sphere. All other theming can be dug up. Personally, I think the sphere should be renovated into a gift shop, store, or an arcade. If a flat ride can fit inside, that would be a good addition. I imagine the sphere will most likely be removed. Source: www.carowindszone.com I have always wonder if the steps in the background have a purpose or not.

Thunder Road and Rebel Yell also had their pages changed. However, the picture of the ride hasn't. Interesting and funny fact: Carowinds never changed the Thunder Road logo to have one train backwards. Source: Carowinds Zone www.carowindszone.com
  16. The lifegaurd at the top's whole job is to tell the riders when it is safe to enter. They also have an emerengy cut off switch at the top too.
  17. My question is why would the lifegaurds permit more than one person on a slide at a time? Some slides have cameras at the bottom, and TVs at the top to prevent such a accident. The WaterWorld accident could have been prevented because lifegaurds are supposed to be able see each other(one at top, one at bottom), and give hand signals to each other when it is safe to send another rider down.
  18. The Hanna-Barbera cartoons were retained, Carowinds featured Yogi Bear in Endless Summer. Viacom charge extra to use the Nicktoons at Cedar Point, and any other Cedar Fair park. I think Cedar Fair will ride the Nick permit out at Kings Island due to the 2006 Nick U expansion.
  19. I firmly believe the Nicktoons will be out by 2011. I think 2009 will see removal from Canada's Wonderland, Kings Dominion while Carowinds, Kings Island, and Great America will go in 2010. I imagine if they were going to remove the Nicktoons in 2008, they would have already taken off the site. One thing I find interesting is that Endless Summer at Carowids had Yogi and Scooby in it instead of SpongeBob. Especially after the Yogi costume was tossed in 2005.
  20. Model Railroad Hobby Shops sometimes carry them, but I am pretty sure it is out of production. It was made by E-R(Eurorail) models.
  21. I thought everyone knew that Travel and Discovery's top amusement shows were paid for by the parks. How else could a raggy park like Wet N Wild Greensboro get ranked in the top 10 water parks on Travel Channel. WnW Greensboro's wavepool is in need of repairs so bad that chucks of concrete as long as me(5'8") have been cleaned up by park sweeps.
  22. On the topic of Carowinds SCarowinds being better than KI FF, Haha, I doubt it. SCarowinds in the past years has been bad about being slack. However, attendance for the event grows every year. I went to SCarowinds in 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2005. 2001 was by far the best year. 2003-2004, lots of rides were closed where as in 2001, the Log Flume, Dodgems, Scrambler, Frenzoid were operating. Drop Zone/Hurler didn't open at Carowinds until 2002. Scream Weaver opened in 2005. Goldrusher and Cyclone opened in 2003. Now the only ride not operating during SCarowinds is Nick Central(minus Reptar, Airtime!, and Log Flume), Saturator, Skytower, and Whitewater. Pretty much your family rides, water rides, and kiddy rides. Rides open at SCarowinds in 2006: All coasters minus Satie, OddCoaster, and Taxi Chase All Thrill Rides minus Dutchman's Revenege Dodgems and Scooby-Doo Log Flume or 50% of the park's rides.
  23. I read awhile back somewhere that Cedar Fair would be dropping the Nicktoons at all parks except for Carowinds. I wish I could find that link.
  24. I was just getting ready to say that thoose aren't the tubs from Phantom Flyers too.
