^Because uhm its unsafe, and who are you to judge how safe the ice is? Did you design the thing, do you have a working knowledge of how it works? Theyre not gonna handout waivers and say your own your own, they care about safety and YOU are not one to judge how safe the ice rink was, sorry you had a bad time, but s**t happens, read your tickets PKI does NOT guarantee that any particualr attraction will be open.

Of course not, theyre new sarcasm powered lights are bringing in the masses.

^That hasnt been confirmed yet....but its looking likely. Arrow will NEVER make a 4D again, simply because Arrow is out of business and has been bought by S&S. S&S now owns all the prototypes ad concepts and drawings and plans etc (sorry too many ands) to arrows version of the 4-d coaster. It is rumored that they are making an S&S 4-d coaster which will be based off the arrow plans but improved upon, and it may be opening up at Fuji-Q Highland next year. Intamin also has a working prototype of their own version of the 4-d coaster, but it hasnt been confirmed yet if they are planning to install one anywhere.

^Sounds like someones beeing talking to the Dippin Dots guy, I bet your "friends" who work in ecology, entertainment, or rides dont know jack s**t about the expected numbers, the full park is not open, so capacity rules and laws change, for all you know this could be what PKI expected, however the only obviius thing saying its not is the fact that ticket prices are dropping, however Winterfest is not on deaths door like you think. VP of departments? If you know ANYONE who works at the park then you know that there is nor president or vice president of the departments, their run by managers who go by the titel manager. Imediate supervisors? We assocaites take capacity for what our job is, if its rides we take the rides capacity, we dont take the parks capacity, and one attractions capacity does not determine the numbers of how well the park is doing. Im sorry, but if you really have any friends that work at the park they are severly misinforming you on how things work.

Jungle Jim's International Market
Gordon Bombay replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^Yeah if you read back a few posts coasters N sich explained it was a different company that was later bought out by Bombradier, but Bonbadier didnt make the KI monorails, err the Jungle Jims monorails now. Anyone know what happened to PKI and PC's monorails? Did the ofter Taft parks like Canada's Wonderland and Australia's wonderland have wild animal habitat or monorails? I know PCW has the monorails from Busch Gardens California which no longer operates. -
Nice footage of the kid biting it on the ice rink! Great job with the video joe!

^That stinks that their monorail inst being utilized, I know Cincinnati hasnt had good luckwith light rail transit but wasnt/isnt there a plan to build a monorail like light rail system downtown for transit between stadium venues, museums, and other attractons across the river? I remember seeing concepts for something like the PRT monorail system. This conceptual picture at the bottom of this page looks like its in cincinnati, however its just a concept... http://monorails.org/tMspages/TPPRT.html -
I found THIS.

Jungle Jim's International Market
Gordon Bombay replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^I remembered your sig and figured you would know lol . Do they still make monorails today? Did they make the monorail in seattle for the worlds fair? I jsut recently did a project on googie architecture at the worlds fair in seattle and was going to make the monorail station there. -
Coasterbuzz, usually full of s**t. WIth the new Nick Universe Expansions at PC last year and PKI this year, I doubt that the parks will be getting sold, a lot more money gets invested in them each year and with all the recent increase in thing s done by viacom for the parks recently, i dont see them throwing the parks away. They see them as very profitable now and even more profitable in the future as they become more sophisticated, advanced, nicer and disney like parks.

Jungle Jim's International Market
Gordon Bombay replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
There are fake people inside it but it is a real train, it just features a different paint scheme, and that is not the station it sits on, just a display. Anyone know the company who manufactured the monorail? -

JJ's has done a fantastic job modernizing them and keeping them in good shape, when they first arrived at Jungle Jims they had their old paint job and sat in his back lot on old rusted track and the looked like crap, as you can see now they look beautiful. I love how monorails looks, especially disneys. -
Now I gotta put the wood and nails back. SOrry, I wasnt trying to be rude to you, I just hate it when people complain about PKI's downtime, as far as coasters go, PKI did extremely well last year keep their coasters up a majority of the time, their machines they break and people dont understand that, they also dont read their tickets, season passes, and sign out front warning them that some rides may not open, it just annoys me.
-
Lord! He did not go there! <G> Yes he did. Man, you are about to be crusified on here. LOL! Looks like he did, Ill go get the boards and nails.... Captain PIcard, exactly what coaster had excruciatingly horrible dowtime this year that PKI almost never had running? and dont say Italian Job, I was at the park so many times this summer working and I picked up a ton of shifts on that ride, for a new ride it had decent up time. I believe we had more days at Beast where we were closed for the whole day than Italian Job did.
-
I believe it depends on the manufacturer, I know the rules for Arrow coasters, but for B&M it might be different because of the design on the track, the trains, and the type of steel used.
-
PC has their Top Gun running for their winterfest, im sur ethugh its still following the track temp rules for steel coasters that FOF/z explained above.

Jungle Jim's International Market

^Thanks for the feedback, it was no trouble getting them its only like 5 minutes from my house and any excuse to go out and take pictures of any subject is great, id get some pictures from the inside but theres a rule against it and I was told to leave today after I had a disposable camcorder out shooting for a short film im making. -
Ok, on the King Cobra topic I promised I would post some pics from Jungle Jims which features the old Kings Island monorail (under construction), some props from Kings Island, and some animatronics from Americana. The huge supermarket is located in fairfield and is becoming like an amusement park, at one of my old jobs I worked for the guy who designed the plan for the parking lot and who painted out the lines, my boss and I got to talk to Jungle Jim about the plans for the monorail. When it is complete (and IF they go with their original concept) the mono rail will have a main station complete with transfer track, two maintenance sheds, and a themed jungle station (already built), it will encircle the store, go to one station above Starbucks where riders will be able to get on and off on the outdoor station (confirmed, and under construction) or enter the 2nd floor expansion, the 3rd station (it has not been confirmed if this will still happen and this portion is not under construction) will be part of an underground wine cellar and the monorail will travel to an underground station. Right now, the trains and main station, mainteance hangers, and a few footers are in place as well as the 5th train on display by Route 4. Check out the pics here.... JUNGLE JIMS INTERNATIONAL MARKET! Let me know what you think of the pics...

^Exactly, these forums are going downhill, too many people not searching before they post and too much of the same topics like "Kings Island becoming its own park again" "when will this coaster be torn down?" "PKI open year round" "this video game update" (not that hearing about other media is bad, but too often were seeing something about a video game and not the park, go to IGN to talk about video games" too many 13 year olds posting the same crap over and over again. We need some new and interesting topics again.
