  1. Well, now that we're all getting along. I'm with you KIfan......back to the discussion at hand... I know recently Valleyfair had some trouble with folks they found in some tunnels underneath their park.
  2. If I am a park owner investing quite a good deal of money in a new product such as B&M's new (at the time) stand up coaster, I'm expecting it to be a good product that will draw guests and keep them coming back, guests don't do that for a ride with a rough, crappy reputation just as B&M did not go around at the time saying "Hey we got a cool new design, but its our first so EXPECT it to be bad". You have a lot to learn.
  3. Well someone's gotta babysit the 13 year olds when their parents aren't watching what they do on the net
  4. Thats a matter of opinion. King Cobra was great, sky rider at wonderland is also really good. Their slightly modified cousin at King's Dominion is not the smoothest ride. Vortex at Carowinds is smooth, yet pretty boring, while B&M stand ups like Chang and Mantis are horrid.
  5. And you still seem to have some trouble following them. Topic Closed.
  6. Cory wasn't here in 72, and he learned that.
  7. Delorean Rider, do you know the guy who took that photo set on Flickr?
  8. ^Thats, where the King Cobra track used to be. I recomend it, its a pretty scenic area back there. As you start to drive along Western Row Rd. you start to pass some really nice and really big houses... Wouldn't you love to have Kings Island in your backyard? Then you eventually reach Little Miami State Park... Which has some picnic areas and such. It's really nice down here especially with how close you are to the river, a nice change of pace from all the comotion of the park... The noise from the above bridge is a little loud though, but if you like architecture, it's pretty cool. I don't know what road takes you to it or where the bridge goes but I wonder what kind of view you can get of the back of the park from it. And, if you head up river on the other side of the park, you can see the historic King's Cartridge Company factory while walking along the bike path... Mike, are these the kind of huts you are referring to... Most of the King Cobra track is now gone, there were never plans to rebuild it or sell it as a ride after it was scrapped. The trains still remain at the park though.
  9. Back when Paul Brown Stadium was being built there was an idea for a light rail, above ground, train line that would run around Cincinnati/Newport/and eventually out to Kings Island/Kings Mills depending on how tourist destinations developed. The plans for this were canceled and I believe are being reviewed as part of the Banks project. In 2002 Cincinnati had on their ballots a plan to approve a light rail system around the University of Cincinnati that would eventually span out around downtown/uptown, then in another phase around sections of I-275, then in a third phase, a rail line out along I-71 to Kings Mills/Mason. Even the first phase of this was defeated horribly on the ballot.
  10. No, to do so is tresspassing. You can drive back to the river landing where Western Row ends but thats about as far as you can go.
  11. I think you mean farmhouse and silo? That sir is no farmhouse . That's actually the remains of one of the old Wild Animal Habitat buildings and the silo was used to store grain to feed the animals. If you look at the similar barn by the ghoster coaster parts out behind Son of Beast, that too was an old Wild Animal Habitat barn, but was retrofitted with steel siding in 1999 to house spare parts and supplies for the wood coaster department to provide quick and and easy access to the Son of Beast without having to travel all the way back to one of the other wood coaster shops when they needed spare parts. emobeaver, I'm not sure what creepy old hotel you are referring to? Perhaps a picture or some coordinates... For anyone looking to to go walking along those paths today, I don't reccomend it. Much of that area by the river is people's backyards and private property, I drove down there with my camera one summer and ended up talking with a gentlemen who was out on his front porch and had this huge transformer station on the edge of his property, he pointed out to me where Kings Island's land ends and where you can being to see the KI fence. Kings Island is nestled into a very interesting area.
  12. Depending on whenever this thing actually opens, I'd consider applying as an operator depending on what I'm doing in life (I love my current job). Boddah and I were discussing what would happen if a car struck a pillar how it would affect the monorail. I bet its a common occurance with how close some people were flying across the parking lot and almost hit us. -Gordon Bombay, who just saw the Giant's miss ANOTHER field goal and will respond to PM's, IM's, and email after the Giants (hopefully) win in over time. Even though it doesn't matter cause the pats will crush whoever wins this game.
  13. I would consider it if they were looking for guitar players, I wish School of Rock had returned for another year and I could've auditioned for that.
  14. Hey, everyone. Came home this weekend and today Boddah and I met up at Jungle Jims to check out the monorail, buy candy, and hang out. Not much to update on the monorail but I got some pictures... -Theming on top of the monorail station. -No track has been added to the Petlan/Starbucks area since the last update. -However, some more track sections have been added to the station appraoch. -The Tonka truck is now closer to the station and more track has been added closer to the station One more of those track pieces and it should be connected to the station. -Of the two sections of track added, there are one of these by each. -Two more sections here, one going into the station, and the track from the station that spans the back parking lot will be complete up to the shopping centers. Click this link to view a panoramic (crappy) of the track spanning the rear parking lot towards the shopping centers.... http://www.mcflash.4000loavesanhour.com/ju...G/jungle007.jpg Thats all for now. P.S. TrainDriver: I've been busy as of late, I'll get back to you later tonight through PM when I get back home.
  15. I had a much better one, but it was on my flash drive... Remember that time I actually did ride in the Delorean to skyline with you, and I couldn't get the door open?
  16. Karen, that ride you are thinking of was the Zodiac. A double armed ferris wheel made by Inatmin. Kings Island's was eventually relocated to Australia's Wonderland who then relocated it to some park in Malaysia in 2005 when Wonderland (Aus.) was demolished. Intamin also made a three armed wheel similar to the zodiac, the three armed wheel for awhile could be found at both Great America parks and I believe are both gone today, not having been relocated to any other parks. Anyone know if any other double armed ferris wheels around? I really wish I could have gotten to experience the Lion Country Safari. I had been been on it, but was way too you to remember, and didn't start going to KI reguarly until 1996. Karen, as far as Americana and Fantasty Farm making a come back, that hope seem to have completely died out as of last winter. The Fantasy Farm property has been completely torn up and flattened. This past summer myself, Boddah, and Dane got to go into the Americana property and photograph it in its current condition. I doubt that it ever comes back as an amusement park, unless he keeps a few rides around and mixes it in with his camp ground, although when we spoke with him there were plans to sell the land to a Christian organization to build a summer camp. You can see an article about it here: http://queencitydiscovery.blogspot.com/200...visited_29.html
  17. Yeah yeah yeah! It's Boddah1994 aka Ryan Suhr's birthday! Today he is 25 (Half way to 50 Ryan). As is usual Ryan Suhr Birthday celebration.....please recall your favorite Ryan moments from the past years... "today I drove downtown with my dad..." Flying with Nemo and Boddah1994... ...and reminding Boddah of how unlikely it is to survive if that plane were to crash. -The time Ryan borrowed my 2 gig flash drive to show videos at KIC day. -The time Ryan said he'd meet me at the park and return my 2 gig flash drive but forgot it at home. -The second time Ryan said to meet him at the park and he'd bring my 2 gig flash drive but he forgot it. -The time I met Ryan in the parking lot for media night and tore through his car looking for my 2 gig flash drive and never found it. -The time Ryan said that he'd buy me a new 2 gig flash drive and ship it to me up at school. -Checking the empty mail slot for my replacement 2 gig flash drive -Coming home for a 7 week holiday break, going back to school 2 weeks ago and asking Ryan about the flash drive again.... (its on its way he said.) Memorable quotes: Halloween Haunt Media Night... "Wow, Son of Beast in the back of the new trains isn't that bad [goes down hill into Rose Bowl].... AHHHHHHH F&%*#@!!!" "I have two one phones, ones for making calls, the other is for receiving them>" And heres a special birthday song for you Ryan... (just substitute the words Ryan for Steve) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sAzsTZm_hE...feature=related
  18. You know, I'm not exactly sure, I use an older, but similar software on my personal website and I have it set to allow comments. With the KIC gallery I'm not sure how it works. That would be a question for Dane... I'll forward it on to him.
  19. So according to that theory, PKIVortex had shortcomings as a Vortex ride operator and his dream represents his short comings coming to life (the person falling out of the restraint in the dream)?
  20. I think he was trying to say that he believes Cedar Fair's current financial situation is causing them to be so stingy with money that to them painting Top Gun is not a viable way to spend money.
  21. Did they mention the organization or was it just someone who was crazy about roller coasters? Last nights episode was pretty funny.
  22. Hey Ashley, and welcome to KICentral! To see the movie check out our history section at... http://www.KICentral.com/history/videos/20thanna.php The quality is not the best but you may be able to pick yourself out.
