lol, nope. Miami of Ohio, like most universities of their size, have more than one sports team that uses the general school mascots name. The Redhawks hockey team is pretty well known for being a decent time, although they did lose to Michigan 4-0 in front of a sold out home crowd last Friday.

Yep, but when it was at Americana, it was my favorite abandoned steel coaster to visit.

^That could make a very nice live stage show!

The only other thing that I'd want from KI, and that is actually worth having, would be the Americana ferris wheel. -
Skyscraper at Cedar Point

Ah looks like Bill Spehn was spared the same fate as a lot of his former Geauga Lake colleagues. -
Any hockey is better than no hockey. I think had they held the event on a saturday, a much warmer saturday like the day before, when there are plenty of people going around fountain square and such, the event would have been more successful.

Dane asked me to join him on the coldest of morning to document the skyline chili sponsored event. The Cyclones were cool to meet and very nice guys. Remember, they're playing their arch rivals the Dayton Bombers on wendsday and are currently in first place. Woot! Go Cyclones! Dane and I ended the day by heading up Vine St. to Clifton for some wonderful Chipotle.

Valleyfair Questions...
Gordon Bombay replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm not exactly sure why it doesn't have any Peanuts theming. However, Mall of America is not far away and Cedar Fair used to manage it and that management contract included Cedar Fair bringing in Peanut's theming. For 2008 though, Mall Of America chose not to re-new that management contract and now is featuring Paramount, Viacom, and Nickelodeon theming, including some ride concepts that never made it to the former Paramount Parks. -
Not the same ride, nor even anywhere near the same height. P.S. Does that picture look really pixelated to anyone else?
-
That, nor any official detail about if The Crypt will change programs/theming/etc. has not been announced.

As far as I know I think Kings Island Resort, Great Wolf Lodge, Days Inn, and a Holiday Inn all run shuttles to and from the park, but i'm not 100 percent sure.

Afterburn at Carowinds

Wow, the sphere is that big? Isn't it in the middle of the pond, or is connected to the surface? -

JZ, I haven't been to carowinds since 2003, the year before Borg was installed, but from what I've read; Paramount Park's really did a pretty high quality job of relocating and re-theming the ride. Many people often claim it to be the last good thing Paramount Parks, claiming that after the instillation they became much more cheap as the idea of selling the chain was passed around. I know the ride had some fountains and the giant borg "sphere," a model from the motion pictures and television show... Photo: www.carowindszone.com I can't find any good photos of the station so I don't know how well thats themed but I did notice that they have a canopy over their ready brakes outside of the station. I'd like to see King Island put one of those on Firehawk and maybe they should realize its easier to put tents and canopies over the queue line rather than have employees pass out water. RollerNut is a member here who runs Caorwinds Zone, although he hasn't been there in awhile, but maybe he can provide some insight. -
Secret in store for GL?
Gordon Bombay replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Cedar Fair will do whatever is more profitable with the other side. Maybe the surprise they are referring to is that the Big Dipper will somehow be protected. I know Sen. Brown (D - Ohio), was trying to push for protecting it as a historical land mark. Remember, it still could just be a rumor, the few times I've posted over there I feared for my life after I even mentioned the rumors of X Flight removal and the closure of the rides side, they swore it wasn't true... -
This topic has run its course.

Vortex, you didn't have to remove them. Thank you for sharing them. The way Donnie's post was made me think he was just going to add those photos on TPR to his own collection, and I was just reminding him to give credit to the original poster of the photos like you did in the original post.

Which pictures are you talking about? If you're referring to the ones on Theme Park Review make sure you have the owners consent.

Paul, is it you that has the footage of me playing the piano on the cowboy carnage tour?

Wow. Beast must be able to defy the laws of physics then. It takes poor little old Magnum to drop 200 feet to hit its 72MPH top speed and Beast manages to do it at the bottom of it's 141 foot first drop.....and thats complete with trim brakes! Not doubting what you saw, I just don't have much faith in the accuracy. - Todd Well said. The operator might think he/she has the ability, but the accuracy of the system is the deciding factor. When I read about the trimless rides, which did exist by the way, it took a trimless ride to get over 70 mph, and that was all the way at the lowest and fastest point of the ride just before the second lift hill. The comment about The Beast poking its way to the second lift just gets my point across to those who didn't understand what I meant. The brakes seem to be turned on more and more every season. They're not. They are not "turned on" either. They are adjusted my adding or removing sections of magnets to the existing brake lines. They are rarely adjusted throughout the season and when they are it is not enough to make a substantial difference. As DeloreanRider stated, the operator on The Beast, just as on most modern coasters, has the ability to see the speed of the train throughout various points of the course as each train goes by. The ride can go over 70 miles per hour depending on how the trims are adjusted throughout the season it doesn't need to be "trimless" to do that.

^ I think this is the one KIBeast...

Very cool find, that thing was in horrible condition. I believe the trains were sold to a private collector, i think it was mentioned on these forums a few years ago. I really hope to go to Fun Spot this year on the way to Chicago and ride their coaster like this.
