  1. Hard Driving is my favorite of those Delorean, glad to see you're not selling it.
  2. Did any other parks beside KI and KD install latice towers?
  3. Ah, I see, after your explanation and after checking out Carowinds Zone I realized that it's more of a kiddy themed train. I thought they had remodeled a 36 inch gauge railroad to look like Azul.
  4. Wait, they had two separate rail lines, or two separate engines? Very lame naming it after Dora. Bother of KI's are named after original engineers from the park.
  5. Is the ferris wheel still at Neverland Ranch? KI needs to get their hands on one, badly!
  6. The question though Donnie, will we be paying Wal Mart prices or KI prices? And, wouldn't that have to be some super ultra deluxe mega center for it to be a Wal Mart? Even the Festhaus is kind of small to be a Wal Mart lol.
  7. Holiday World's water park was actually extremely fun, blows KI's out of the water. I'm not one who likes water parks, nor one who really likes Holiday World, but wow, Splashin Safari is a blast!
  8. Evidence of their dwindling financial condition? I think a new ride and having an extra day to show appreciation to their customers for making the other public days so successful and highly attended are indications of the opposite.
  9. ^If that were the case why would they keeping adding rides as the main attractions at parks every year if they just became "another ride" after a few weeks. That may be true for enthusiasts, but certainly not for the general public who doesn't frequent the park as often.
  10. Yeah, we we're talking about Philadelphia Tobagan Company constructing the carousel for Coney Island which was eventually moved to Kings Island, was just curious as to why you posted a list of KI roller coasters in the topic about Carousels, lol.
  11. ^Uh, ok? List of past and present roller coasters at Kings Island.
  12. I think thats just you, it was removed because it had already put in 3 seasons at Kings Island and the supplies and props for it were recycled at other (then)Paramount Parks.
  13. Nearly all of the horses also have "pTc" worked into their design somehow, signifying Philadelphia Tobagan Company. Primarily today they make wooden roller coaster cars, do they still do carousels?
  14. No, Son of Beast is still there because reinforcing certain parts of the structure and purchasing "new" trains was cheaper than bringing it down.
  15. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. It blows Cedar Point and any other midwestern park way out of the water. If I lived closer to it, I'd shoot photographs for KentuckyKingdomCentral rather than KICentral.
  16. No, you will have to be 15 at the time of your interview, or 16 in the case of a department like Rides and Operations.
  17. Yea, you know how people say The Vortex is sinking? The land out there is ustable, swampy, heveally forested, land. Hard to develop. Vortex is not sinking and where has it ever been said that the land is unstable or swampy, there are no "swamps" back there. Also, the heavy forestation and the other "factors" you named didn't seem to be a problem when they built The Beast.
  18. That must've been a fluke ride, the most of the time the seats did work.
  19. What? Proper 3d effects? KI's version didn't have any 3d effects and they didn't hand out the glasses as you walked in, although you could tell badly that it was supposed to be shown in 3d. And they did use the motion seats. When KI got low on employees that summer they would show Spongebob half the day and then Hannah Barbera the other half, made for a lot of disappointed SFKK regulars who made the trip North. I don't believe Funtastic World ran in 2007 at all.
  20. Stricker's does own those cornfields behind it I believe, will they ever expand to be like Americana? I doubt it. Would require quite a lot of money.
  21. Donnie, how long did you work for KI? Based on other stuff you posted I thought you were employed there earlier, I didn't know you worked there as recently as 1997. Well technically, that was 11 years ago, but I remember going to the park then really vividly when I was a kid, wow that doesn't seem so long ago. Thanks for sharing these, love to see how things were for employees in the past!
  22. If quoting an article you should always give credit to the source and those who wrote it. Also, this is already being discussed here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12121 This is the coaster:
  23. It's amazing, and sometimes unfortunate, how often the movie industry today relies on CGI. Pixar I think does a good job, it's their own unique style and each movie they create seems to be a big hit with families and kids, but the overuse of CGI is live action films is incredibly annoying. Being a photojournalism major I think its a lot like photoshop. When used subtly, it can make all the difference in a photograph or turn a bad picture into a decent one. But when used to an extreme it becomes very, very obvious and so fake that it can ruin the photograph. This is one of the reasons I disliked the new Transformers movie, the CGI just did not blend well with the live action. Unfortunately, as much as I am looking forward to upcoming Indiana Jones IV film, it's already obvious in the trailer that the CGI does not blend well. The first three installments of that series were fantastic and all done without CGI.
  24. Very true, the debate may be endless, but then again the point of these message boards is for discussion, debate, and communication. Wrong, if you read the entire topic it was stated numerous times that Nickelodeon licensing can not be inter-mingled with Hannah Barbera (or any other "rival" licensing) due to contractual obligations. This is why Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle (which has separate HB licensing through Sally Dark Rides) is part of International St. and not Nickelodeon Universe. Presently, Peanuts is NOT an option as current Peanuts licensing deals extend only to the legacy Cedar Fair parks and not the recently acquired former Paramount Parks. You may see a re-vamped kids area in the future with the new theming, however with how popular Nick currently is, I doubt that happens later rather than sooner. Just as Nick replaced HB, changes come and go. One day we may see Nick leave in favor of something else and the children of today can go on message boards and debate about how much better Nick was "back in the 2008". Wrong, they can't just do "whatever they want with it". As stated by Interpreter earlier... By the way, congratulations on your PIXAR internship! That is absolutely awesome!. Best of luck to you.
