What? Proper 3d effects? KI's version didn't have any 3d effects and they didn't hand out the glasses as you walked in, although you could tell badly that it was supposed to be shown in 3d. And they did use the motion seats. When KI got low on employees that summer they would show Spongebob half the day and then Hannah Barbera the other half, made for a lot of disappointed SFKK regulars who made the trip North. I don't believe Funtastic World ran in 2007 at all.

Stricker's does own those cornfields behind it I believe, will they ever expand to be like Americana? I doubt it. Would require quite a lot of money.

Donnie, how long did you work for KI? Based on other stuff you posted I thought you were employed there earlier, I didn't know you worked there as recently as 1997. Well technically, that was 11 years ago, but I remember going to the park then really vividly when I was a kid, wow that doesn't seem so long ago. Thanks for sharing these, love to see how things were for employees in the past!

It's amazing, and sometimes unfortunate, how often the movie industry today relies on CGI. Pixar I think does a good job, it's their own unique style and each movie they create seems to be a big hit with families and kids, but the overuse of CGI is live action films is incredibly annoying. Being a photojournalism major I think its a lot like photoshop. When used subtly, it can make all the difference in a photograph or turn a bad picture into a decent one. But when used to an extreme it becomes very, very obvious and so fake that it can ruin the photograph. This is one of the reasons I disliked the new Transformers movie, the CGI just did not blend well with the live action. Unfortunately, as much as I am looking forward to upcoming Indiana Jones IV film, it's already obvious in the trailer that the CGI does not blend well. The first three installments of that series were fantastic and all done without CGI.

Very true, the debate may be endless, but then again the point of these message boards is for discussion, debate, and communication. Wrong, if you read the entire topic it was stated numerous times that Nickelodeon licensing can not be inter-mingled with Hannah Barbera (or any other "rival" licensing) due to contractual obligations. This is why Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle (which has separate HB licensing through Sally Dark Rides) is part of International St. and not Nickelodeon Universe. Presently, Peanuts is NOT an option as current Peanuts licensing deals extend only to the legacy Cedar Fair parks and not the recently acquired former Paramount Parks. You may see a re-vamped kids area in the future with the new theming, however with how popular Nick currently is, I doubt that happens later rather than sooner. Just as Nick replaced HB, changes come and go. One day we may see Nick leave in favor of something else and the children of today can go on message boards and debate about how much better Nick was "back in the 2008". What do the Red's have to do with Newport? There's no competing baseball team or sports attraction directly across the river. If anything, they benefit from having Newport right over there. Now if only the city would have planned better and had the Bank's project underway and completed, Cincinnati may be doing a lot better. With the rising cost of oil and increasing environmental awareness, it would not surprise me if we see Cincinnati spring for light rail. When I used to work in Mason I would often have to take 71 south past the Reagan highway, through Kenwood, and eventually to Downtown at about 4:30 when I got off work. These corridors get very crowded and allowed me to listen to a lot of great music while I crawled along. However, Metro buses are permitted to drive in the emergency lane during certain hours when it is extremely crowded on the highway. In a recent survey, the governments of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana found that the Cincinnati regional highway infrastructure (I-74, I-75, I-275, etc.) will be operating dangerously close to "service level F," meaning they are failing in their mission to provide adequite transportation routes for people and goods. Hopefully this is some drive to get Cincinnati and its outlying areas to push for light rail to reduce stress on the highways. 2.6 billion dollars sounds like a lot, but if you have ever seen the inter-cincinnati highway system and remember the hassle of the re-done Fort Washington Way, 2.6 billion dollars may be the cheaper option.

A couple of times. The plan was first thought of during the construction of Paul Brown stadium in which an above ground rail line or monorail would run from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport to downtown, then along I-71 out to Kings Mills, Mason, and Kings Island with stops along the way. The line, if proven to be successful would hopefully spur the expansion of rapid transit in the Queeen City. However, due to poor management of the Paul Brown Stadium and much higher than anticipated cost, the plan was axed. The last time it was brought up was in 2002 when METRO borrowed the idea for the rail lines they hoped to create. The I-71 line would be the first line built running from downtown to Blue Ash, then with expansions to CVG and out towards Kings Mills as well as a 2nd line to run from Clifton/U.C. to Over the Rhine and downtown. The plan was estimated to cost around 2.6 billion dollars alone and take over 30 years to complete. Although funds would be provided by the state, city, taxes, and the federal government, the county had already had two very signifigant tax increases for both new stadiums and the freedom center, all of which ran way over budget and the halted start of the Vine St. renovations and Banks's project caused vote for Metro's light rail plan to fail miserably. Here is what the metro light rail line would have looked like when completed... In both the original subway plans of 1927 and the modern 2002 plans of Metro, the subway rail lines would be shared with interurban streetcars that could jump from the light rail lines, onto city streets and about town. As part of the new Vine St. renovations (OTR revitilization) and the Banks project, a street car line has been approved from Cincinnati. These street cars will run from the banks, up Vine street, to Clifton and U.C. Many hope this is the start of what will hopefully be light rail in Cincinnati soon. With the increasing economic growth of Blue Ash and Mason, many business' there are still pushing for a commuter subway line to run along I-71 to downtown and the airport as it would be a vital artery for Cincinnati business. Meanwhile the original subway still sits there, half finished, abandoned, and even if a new subway does come full circle....not likely to be used again... -Sorry for the rant and thread hijack brown, but you did ask lol. I have been researching Cincinnati light rail heavily lately.

No, it probably couldn't, but then again why would I need it to? Friday I'm driving from athens to Cleveland then back down to Cincinnati and will probably only have to refill once, if at all. I'll take the gas mileage over off roading capabilities or illegal street racing.

Since we don't have all the information or figures to really get into and question the financial reasons for Cedar Fair's closing of Geauga Lake, it really surprised me they wouldn't announce such a thing to the park guests in an effort to sell of merchandise rather than just having to destroy it.

8 miles per gallon? Are you serious? Wow. I averaged 32 mpg going from Athens to Cincinnati last weekend.

Has the licensing ran out completely with H-B? I read that it didn't expire until 2009 unless their info is wrong? If so they could try it out with the patrons and then decide whether or not to pay for the licensing. Then they themselves would be able to tell what works with the patrons. Both? Or just Nick??? Then of course as you said Time Warner has to be willing too. I'm not the only one that would love to see H-B back. There are alot of people on this forum that would love to see it happen too. They already did try out having both licensing side by side from 1993 - 2005 and in 2006 instead of renewing HB licensing, they opted to go all out Nick. If bringing back HB was going to be such a great business decision Cedar Fair has the option to pursue it, so do other major chains like Six Flags, Busch, and P.A.R.C. however so far as been stated......none of them have.

Pardon me, but where do you get the authority to speak for what people want? What research have you done? None. Btw, how were you able to see into the future and what research do you have to prove that Nick won't be popular in the years to come and HB will? Your senseless arguments speak for your ignorance and you keep digging yourself into a deeper hole.

-I'll let that speak for itself. -As has been stated, the parks are catering to what PEOPLE WANT.....and that is Nickelodeon. -I have, and it is still a place for kids and adults......a place without HB. -Not necessarily, major parks come and go look at Americana, Astroworld, and Geauga Lake! Right now, KI is a very successful park, will it be in the future? You, nor i, nor interpreter have any crystal ball to show that. -Yes a lot do believe that, but a lot more come for the all Nickelodeon themed kids area. -You said you own a business, you should know what marketing research is, its their way of knowing what the public wants, not just how they think.

A poll on a park enthusiast website is hardly comparable to the way a large corporation like Paramount Park's or Cedar Fair do market research, by the way what "VERY BIG" business do you own?

Interpreter pretty much said it best and is completely right, but I just want to point this out: While the park patrons don't know what's best for the park and have a very misinformed opinion if they think that. the park is certainly going to cater to the patrons in an effort to keep them coming back and get more through the gates and they did exactly just that when removing HB for Nickelodeon. They didn't do it just to "change things" like you said, they did it because it was a business decision to benefit the park.

Park seems to be doing fine and has done fine since. You don't seem to understand that things change and business trends change. If that was the best thing to do they probably would have kept it that way.....they didn't.

I always hear about how much Exxon/Mobile's profits are or how much they spend to locate new oil. I never quite get to hear how much they actually pay in taxes. Do we really want to attempt to put a company that is responsible for paying so much in taxes? Since you saw Elmers post I'm assuming you saw mine directly under it.....plenty of other places to discuss taxes and politics on the internet.

I hope this RV company does better than other RV dealers have done with certain other Classic Amusement Parks.

Maybe this will renew Cincinnati's interest in rapid transit. Many times there have been proposals for a line that runs from the airport to the downtown transit center, up 71 and out to Kings Mills.

What about the G trains? Reportedly there are still some at GL and some at KI.
