Then why restate what's already been said and just take up space? Please put a little thought into your posting. If you have an opinion, give some reasons to support it, if you don't, which you often do; then you're not really contributing to any conversation.

And why is that? How about some content with the post?

^I think the OP knew that JZ, i believe he was asking a "what if" as in what if you got to decide to change the theme, if it had to be changed, what would you change it to? I am glad that you posted about the MGM licensing, I didn't know that it was a licensing agreement with MGM, I thought Paramount had produced the show then it got cancelled and they decided not to tie into it anymore. Was this a similar agreement with MGM like the one to use the James Bond movie in the Action Theatre or was that through SimEx iWerks?

Which station effects are you talking about? The rumbling and voices still work, the fog doesn't. A few lightbulbs are out, but for the most part most of the station lights still work.

As woofer says.... "why not just dig a hole and bury money in it". A re-theme of fof would just be a waste of money that could be spent effectively elsewhere.

The Coaster World Before Computers
Gordon Bombay replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I take that back, that video may not have the original control panel as it is from 85, not 79, but I am fairly certain that the box did at one time have to seperate panels, and instead of levers it was more of a system of pins that could be pulled out to release air in the brakes and manually let the trains come forward. The more the pin was pulled out, the more air released, the faster the train came in. This was for maintenance personnel only. -

Are you sure about that Intperpreter? I know that there was a panel located behind where the operator sat at the main control panel that had manual brake levers that controlled the air for the brakes, but I'm fairly certain that was for maintenance use only. I think The Beast always had a computerized block system where the brakes were released by electronic buttons in a system similar, but much older than what is used today. You can see the original operators panel at about 3 minutes and 5 seconds into this video... In the booth directly behind the operator panel he is showing the kid was another panel with the brake levers. -

I think I'd rather have a bear claw at Stan Mikita's than a cold burger at Tuckers. -

I think it would have been perfectly fine if they had built that at Kings Island and called it Son of Beast instead. I wonder who would've built it and where they would have put it. -

Geauga Lake Sells All Their Rides...
Gordon Bombay replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Not to mention The Beast has always had trim brakes, and in the same locations as the current ones. The former skid brakes were removed in favor of using magnetic trim brakes that slow the trains down more abruptly than the skid brakes did, however the trains still go the same speed. -
For some people it's almost hard to believe that it's been eight years since Park River Corporation (current owners of Cincinnati's Coney Island) announced they would be selling Americana/LeSourdsville Lake. While browsing coasterbuzz tonight I came across this... Many people felt that the park which saw a very tough time in the late 80's and early 90's was in the best of possible hands with Park River Corporation at the helm and the announcement that they were selling it came to many as a shock. The park would be purchased by local businessman Jerry Couch and would not re-open until 2002 once again under its original name of "Lesourdsville Lake''. The 2002 season ended early, halloween and christmas events at the park were cancelled and it was announced by owner Jerry Couch that the park was not likely to re-open in 2003. In 2006 he announced that the park would never operate as an amusement park again. Since then many have wondered what the fate of Lesourdsville would have been had Park River Corporation held onto the park. I for one wish they had taken the screeching eagle with them when they left and moved it to Coney. For more information on the history of Americana/Lesourdsville Lake and to see pictures of how the park looked when photographers visited this previous summer please check out the article at my website; Queen City Discovery. Also, heres a video showing how the park looked when it was open during the Park River/Couch years compared to how it looked when we visited in July, 2007.

Coney Aerial Images Added to Coney Island Central
Gordon Bombay replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Coney Island Central
Unfortunately not, cloud cover was too low that day and the weather was unpredictable. Captain Nemo and his father had to clear the plane with Lunken Airport before making a few laps around Coney. -
^Welcome to KICentral!

^How about acting somewhat mature and trying this... "It is my humble opinion that we are not getting any new ride addition in 2008 due to the fact that there was a rather large addition to the rides line up last year with the addition of Firehawk. We may have seen the end of consistently adding a new ride each season like we did during the Paramount years. For reasons I have not declared, I am not too fond of the majority of users on this forum."

Vote for a fictional Kings Island President!
Gordon Bombay replied to italianchef's topic in KI Polls
I think the current person in charge of the park is doing quite alright, i'd rather have Greg Scheid than a fictional cartoon charecter. -

Topic named changed so as not to be misleading to anyone that this has anything to do with any upcoming United States presidential elections. -

KI Train / Little Miami River Entrance
Gordon Bombay replied to johnnyisland's topic in Kings Island
Not to mention, although Google maps and aerial views may make it seem that way, I can account that the land back there is not always flat and is home to some very daunting terrain. -

^I've been on those once before, they're great. We hit them up coming back from OU when coming up to where 32 meets 275. Only problem is they're not very close to where I live. Thats why you do the other option of 100 points for 20 bucks. That alone could get you 5 go kart rides. Or you could have done a value pack. -
'Paramount' Removed from Parking lot sign
Gordon Bombay replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Chef, we can all be pretty much 100 percent certain that Paramount will be gone, hence the signs gone and if you listen to the hints dropped in the conference calls as well as what certain users who enjoy hockey and the year 1994 have said. Unlike you seem to think judging from past posts, I don't think CF is getting rid of Paramount because they believe its a bad image or scar, its because it doesn't add enough value to them and they can do just fine without it, no reason to spend extra money paying viacom. Now the Nick licensing, that has yet to be seen. -
Great Photo TR KiMan! Both of them! Really enjoyed reading them and enjoyed the pictures, it was nice to see some new updates from Beech Bend. Only thing I disliked was the Moeller sweatshirt ( ) but hey, no ones perfect! Did you shoot any guns besides the .22? Back in Athens when things get stressful, my friend and I go out to the range at a local state park with a club and shoot textbooks and other random crap. He owns a Russian made 1943 Mosin Nagant (with a pressed hammer and sickle emblem (the same rifle the russians use in the Call of Duty game series)) that is one of the loudest and most powerful rifles I have ever seen.

I get very limited vacation time and may have to use some of it for a wedding, but depending on what I do I'll either be leaving work for a week to record my bands' second cd or purchasing airfare to new york to stay with family, see the 9/11 memorial/NYC, and visiting Six Flags Great Adventure!
