We can only hope to see something like Universals park wide halloween production. Absolutely amazing, a must if you have never experienced it.

^ ^ ^ I agree completely about staying on property. The wife and I did that 3 years ago and stayed at the Royal Pacific. Absolutely fabulous resort and next time we go we are going to stay at Portofino Bay. I also love the water taxis, great way to get from total relaxation to the excitement of CityWalk. About the Disney characters, Universal has no problem having the X-Men out, the Characters from Madagascar, and really cool stilt walking characters themed to the Mummy and also guys on spring stilts that were doing flips in the air. They were 10 to 12 feet tall and were doing full back flips, very awesome.

^ ^ Breaking news the ride to be named latter is acctually King Cobra. Cedar Point is going to open it next year under the new name Maverick. All of the construction and signs at CP are to throw us off, when in reality they are just going to reconstruct King Cobra. I am so excited

Just pulled in to town a few days ago from the family vacation from Orlando Florida. The wife and I went to Orlando with my 2 older brothers, their families, and my parents. Basically it was the Griswalds go to WallyWorld, except the park was open and we were not whistling zipidee do dah when we left. I will keep this short, but here is the general outline of our trip. We had 11 people total so we rented one of the numerous vacation homes in Kissimmee. I recomend that anyone traveling to the Orlando area rent one of these homes if you are going in a large group. They are cheapier and bigger than hotels plus you get your own pool. We went through AllStar Vacation Homes, recomend it to everyone. Our plan was to visit the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and then pick another Disney park. After that we were going to do IOA and Universal for 2 days. I have been to these parks numerous times, but it was the first time for everyone else since they were children. Overall impression of Magic Kingdom and Epcot. $63 a day is too expensive, the rides are not to impressive, and the crowds are ridiculous. Also the set up at the main parking lot is horrible. Hundreds of people are fighting for a limited number of seats on the tram to the transportation hub. I have never seen more unhappy people before ever reaching the park. The Magic Kingdom is advertising that Captain Jack has come aborad Pirates of the Carribbean. Yeah there are a few places that you see Jack Sparrow, but the attraction is still unchaged from when it opened. The scene with Davy Jones in far from impressive as is the new lighting and sound. Honestly they should have left it as is and not added Jack Sparrow, because his presence now makes no difference to the ride. Here is my biggest complaint for the Magic Kingdom, gone are the days of characters walking through the park and children getting their autographs. Now you must waite in line to get their autograph and they shut the lines down so not all children will get an autograph. Also the only way to get a decent picture of your child with Mickey is to buy the Disney photograph. I talked to a cast member about the set up and he said that this is how Disney is trying to push their character meals. So yes Disney wants us to pay a little more money just so our children can get a picture and autograph with Mickey. Walt is turning in his grave over this set up. We had 3 children with us, ages 2, 6, and 10 and when we left the Magic Kingdom they were more thrilled about going home and getting in the pool than staying at the park for the night time show. Epcot was better for the kids they enjoyed Mission Space, but still the park was overly crowded and understaffed. We decided that after 2 days at Disney we were done with the "happiest place on earth" and that we were ready for Universal. First off just getting in to the Universal Resort from the parking garage is 100 times better than the Disney set up. The kids along with the adults absolutely loved Universal Studios and IOA. For my money there is not a better park around than IOA. I have been there 10 times since it has opened and it gets better everytime. The Mummy roller coaster is an amazing ride, rode it 5 times in 2 days. The Mummy might be a better attraction than Spiderman, that is still up for debate. The night time show at Universal is absolutely amazing, we saw it twice. The combination of fireworks, lasers, and the movie projections is amazing. Nothing else like it in Orlando. After spending 3 days at Universal the entire group concluded that it offered a much better experience for the entire family, especially young children, because Universal characters were all over the parks. All in all the vacation was fabulous, especially seeing as how I dont see my 2 brothers that much. One lives in Dallas and the other in St. Louis. We all had a tremendous time, but could have done with out Disney. Recomendation, Orlando is a great place for a large family to go, rent a vacation home, make Universal a must see and do Disney is you have nothing better to do.

KI Fifth Most Popular Cinci Attraction?
RailRider replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
^ ^ ^ "Not had statistics yet in school, ehhh?" Acctually graduated from college with a B.S. in Marketing Statistics and a minor in Economics. Hence why the sample size is not representitive of the population and the margin of error is to great because of the small sample size. It is a newspaper poll what can we expect, so I dont think making a big deal out of KI being 5th means a thing. You could sample 567 other people and I gurantee the results would be different. -
KI Fifth Most Popular Cinci Attraction?

Yeah because 567 people really represent the entire population, not to mention compare attendances. Pretty sorry excuse for a survey if you ask me. -
Boys died at Walt Disney World Today
RailRider replied to Flight Of The Dead's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
An Extremely Sad News Story... I would put money on the child having a pre existing condition. 99% of theme park deaths happen because of pre existing conditions or neglegence by the parks guest or the person responsible for them. Still extremely sad. RRC is nowhere as intense as Flight of Fear even during launch. -
Cedar Fair must decide on headquarters site
RailRider replied to cincyboy0830's topic in Kings Island
As long as Kinzel is CEO, CedarFair will not leave Sandusky. Heck the man litteraly lives on the pennisnula. Ever see the big house that sits on the lake and seems oddly placed close to the parking lot? Thats why you see him in the park so much, he can walk. -
Inverted all the way, B&M makes all types of great coasters but their Inverted is like nothing else, but I also wouldn't mind seeing one of their floorless multi inverters. I honestly wouldn't complain about any B&M coming to KI. Hopefully CedarFair will instal a B&M in the near future.

Anyone ever rode Top Thrill Dragster?
RailRider replied to cincyboy0830's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yeah the launch is a bit more intense the FOF, seeing as you go 120mph compared to 54mph in about the same distance. TTD will pin you in your seat. -
I agree rain can make a day great at a park, but not rain in October at night on Lake Erie. Just makes for an extremely cold and wet evening.

Anyone ever rode Top Thrill Dragster?
RailRider replied to cincyboy0830's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Ive had about 20 rides on Dragster. Just pray it doesn't stall at the top on you, that is an amazing ride yet you honestly dont want to be launched a 2nd time. Not a bad seat on the thing, but the front is amazing. My biggest suggestion is wearing eye protection, sun glasses or something like that because your eyes are extremely dry by the end especially if you take a bug in one. -
I know, but they have glue and welders and we can bring it back, I mean its gotta be reliable heard it from the pixie dust spreader at the tilt-a-whirl.

Cedar Point Aerial Shot
RailRider replied to KIBeast's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
CP has one of the best midways of any themepark. The old historic ballroom the buildings, the great fountains, flower gardens, and the sky ride down the middle. Cedar Points middway is better than any out there for just strolling and people watching, not to mention some of the best rides are directly off the midway. Stay at the breakers, in the historic section, on a week day late in the seasson and go to the point and as you stroll down the middway it almost feels like a different era. Eventhough some areas lack trees, frontiertown is such a nicely wooded area and especially how the paths just wind through that section. Great area to tack a break from the thrill rides of CP. -
I heard Vortex would be removed and replaced with the now disassembled Drachen Fire down at BGW. Can't wait till we can all ride Drachen Fire next year and then go ride SOB for something a little smoother. I also heard from the Dippin Dots guy up at CP that the Space Spiral will be traded to KI for the Eifle Tower and a ride to be named latter. Any other ungodly stupid rumors out there people would like to talk about?
-
Welcome... Try CP for Halloweekends on a cold October night with pelting rain and high wind. Talk about a miserable evening
-
Once again from the breakfast I had up North a few weeks back this is what I was told and it makes perfect sense. People that normaly go to CP or GL with their seasson pass will probably take atleast one weekend and travel South to KI now and likewise for people that only go to KI with their seasson pass will travel North to hit the other Ohio parks. How many seasson pass holders make at least one trip during the summer where they can use their KI seasson pass at another park? Makes good business sense, not to mention how it will help increase cash flow at all the parks. More access and another reasson to go.
-
Next years seasson pass will be amazing, because you get 3 great Ohio parks not to mention all the other CedarFair and new Cedar Fair parks. Expect to pay more, but it will be worth it. Some of the best coasters and rides are in Ohio
-
Maverick will not be the tallest by no means, but if you have seen the posted teaser signs around the construction site and also the WindWalker concept at PortAdventura being built, think that with pivoting seats with a longer layout. As far as you know I have been comissioned to pour gas on the fire for CP. Can't trust anyone.
-
At what point in this post did I make it seem like breaking news? I know everyone knows CedarPoint is getting a new coaster. Nice use of sarcasim, but the intention of this post is to discuss what Maverick will be, not that it is just another coaster at CP.
-
Next year Cedar Point will unleash Maverick , which is already under construction at the park. All Im going to say about this coaster is that it will be absolutely amazing and long. "Are you ready for some serious sidewinding?" As we all know Intamin track is on site, but this new coaster will be a cross between Millie and X. Something Intamin likes to refer to as a Wing Rider type coaster. Seating will also be 4 across for this new Intamin bad boy. Get ready to make the trek to CedarPoint next year and pay homage to the newest member at Americas RollerCoast.
-
The CP vs KI mentality has been destroyed a long time ago, with KI focusing on "The Best of Hollywood Entertainment" and CP being "Americas RollerCoast." It is very obvious to anyone that has visited either park over the last few years that they offer a completely different experience. SixFlags tried to compete against CP with GL and they failed miserably. Look for CF to add nice attractions to KI but nothing extremely ground breaking or record breaking, that will always go to to CP
-
I am amazed at all of the moronic ideas and opinions on these boards now. Yeah Cedar Fair is going to move the CorkScrew to KI along with installing Demon Drop because KI has no Arrow loopers or freefall rides. Makes sense folks. Hey why we are at it lets discuss how CedarFair only invests in CedarPoint and does nothing else for its other parks. Who here would complain if a ride like Patriot, Hydra, Talon, Xcelerator, Silver Bullet, the various Inatmin Impulse Coasters, the various flatt rides (Meteor, Thunderhawk, XtremeSwing, etc.) or how about the various Hypers instaled in the 90's. I think everyone here would be thrilled. I just hope people start using some common sense and stop repeating every dumb rumor they here from their local crack dealer... I know that was a little harsh, but it is getting old. Oh by the way Magnum XL is sinking and Cedar Point doesnt know how to fix it.

Columbus Zoo buys Wyandot Lake!
RailRider replied to familyman's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Not surprising it has always been one of those things that you just wonder why it had never happend. I would imagine we will see both the zoo and Wyandot Lake combined in to one attraction and one ticket. The Zoo may very well go in the direction of Busch Adventure Parks. -
It would be nice if the smoking ban was enforce at the park. Honestly dont know how many times this year I have seen guests that dont pay attention to the smoking ban and employees that just stare at these guests yet say nothing. Just an observation I have had so far this year.
