Corkscrew moved??? Right because for some odd reasson it would be worthwhile moving an old classic coaster like that. Honestly the cost doesnt make sense nor does the stupidity of such an idea. One of the best photographic spots in the park like mentioned earlier also an extremely well kept small foot print looper. May as well add the Blue Streak with it when they move it to KI.

Seriously, Avatar has a lot coaster features and a lot of dark ride features. Honestly its a judgement call. True Websters definition it is not a coaster, but it is pretty darn fun. So give yourself a halfa coaster ride everytime you ride it.

Breaking News About Cedar Fair Acquisition
RailRider replied to RailRider's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
SixFlags ran GL in to the hole. Given time it will come back, thats why CF went the waterpark route and is leaving the new construction of coasters alone for awhile. CedarFair has a tough job rebuilding that parks entire image. Cedar Fair also has some big things instore for the 07 seasson. Wait till they release the details about Maverick at CedarPoint. Why do you think construction has already started? Not to mention the changes that will take place at what were formerly Paramount Parks. Also the 07 seasson pass will let us in to all CedarFair parks... 08 seasson will be the addition of a great new coaster at KI and the possible install of Nick theming at existing CedarFair parks. Thats just my humble opinion. Sit back and enjoy the ride. -
Breaking News About Cedar Fair Acquisition

Or perhaps I had breakfast with him, last week... -
I greatly enjoy staying at the Comfort Suites next to the Harley Davidson store and Outback right by KI. Very nice hotel and they offer quite large rooms. I also recomend staying north of KI because of the heavy trafic the farther south you go past KI on 71. There are also a few nice hotels in Lebannon, which is only a few miles north of KI. I dont need to stay at KI, but I have stayed at a few of the mentioned hotels, which I think are still better choices than the KI hotel. Enjoy your trip and take a couple days to enjoy everything. Go to a Reds game if you have the time. Nothing better than spending the evening at GABP with the family and watching the Reds win.

Breaking News About Cedar Fair Acquisition
RailRider replied to RailRider's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
He not only wants to stay on for awhile longer, but also it is a requirement from CBS for the deal to work. Lets just say I had quite the interesting breakfast up north late last week! Also as previously mentioned Mr. Kinzel started out working in food services at CP and worked his way through the ranks. He also lives on the pennisula, thats why you will see him quite frequently at CP. -
Breaking News About Cedar Fair Acquisition
RailRider replied to RailRider's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
You must forgive me I added this topic late last night. He will be delaying his retirement atleast for another year and will be working the 2008 seasson as the head of CedarFair. Kinzel is the man that made Cedar Point great and he is a great story of someone who started at the very bottom and made it to the top. We will see Mr. Kinzel walking around KI during the seasson this year, like he strols around CP. If you should happen to see him say hello, he is one of the nicest men you will ever meet. -
I have heard it straight from the horses mouth that Dick Kinzel will not be retiring after this seasson. In fact part of the deal between CBS and Cedar Fair is that Mr. Kinzel oversee the addition of the new parks and that he remains at the helm for the 08 seasson atleast. There will be a press release soon about this.

I knew everyone here would enjoy this.

Jaws The Musical Some of you may not know this, but Jaws the Ride at USF has been determined to expensive to opperate year round. The ride was almost eliminated like Kong, but USF has brought it back for peak seasson. Anyways here are the skippers of Jaws The Ride performing a truly hilarious musical montage of their life at USF as skippers. This is a must see for any themepark fan or employee. Especially if you love Jaws like myself.

Cedar Fair Purchases Paramount Parks!

This is a Great Day Cannot Wait To Buy My Seasson Pass Next Year -
Well thats just bad business to buy a park and then let it go so you dont have to worry about competition. Make a huge investment and then let it go to crap, yep makes sense to me. CF could liscence the Nick rights like they do with Peanuts, but I doubt any of the other movie themes would stay. But honestly KI could keep their current themes just change the names and a few signs and you would still have the same experience just a some what generic form. Like they did at GL, just less theming. Anyways besides NU very few attractions have a liscenced theme at KI

Young adults from foreign countries come to spend the summer at CP. Why do you think they have all the housing. Get a lot of international college students who need a good job for the summer while college is on break, so they move into the CP dorms.

GL has received a very impressive water park upgrade not to mention the complete overhaul of management and staffing. CF had to completely change the way GL opperated because of the SixFlags mindset the park was previously opperating under. Also GL received 4 major coasters not to long ago so that was not a major need of the park. CF would perform the same transition at KI, but I beleive a new coaster would happen very quickly because KI is nowhere near the shape GL was in once acquire by CF. KI would almost be guranteed either a B&M or Intamin creation because of the tremendous relationship CF has with those two companies. p.s. have you ever been to Worlds of Fun or Valleyfair? They have received some great rides recently and are some very well opperated parks. They may not have the rides that CP does, but they still provide a great guest experience.
-
^ ^ ^ Yeah they could do all those things or they could update the food services, bring in more entertainment shows, and upkeep the theming of their rides better. Adding new blockbuster rides is the SixFlags solution and we see how that ended up for them. Go visit SFMM for a miserable guest experience, but great rides if they are opperating. CedarFair would improve the guest experience at KI and then drop some new blockbuster thrill rides around the park. Look at what they have and are doing with GL. I would expect the same treatment to KI.
-
^ CedarFair does hire minors, but they are not relied on as much at CP as KI relies on them. The workforce at GL has a makeup that resembles KI's more so than what CPs does. Would make good sense to monopolize the Ohio Market. Not to mention having a seasson pass would be spectaculare. 3 great parks in one state and not to mention the probable addition of a new ride every year or every other year. Also KI would become more or a resort like CP has. Kinzel does an excelent job running CedaFair, not to mention he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Cross your fingers folks. CedarFair = Excelent Food Services, More Entertainment, and huge Thrill Rides.

Lesourdsville Lake/ americana

Eagles a classic a very sad day, but we all knew it was coming -
I will agree that the boards have been negative as of late, but we as enthusiats are not required to be positive all the time. Especially when we enjoy something as much as PKI and are watching things happen that we dont like to what we consider our park. I for one feel that PKIC is a great place for people to praise the good at PKI and to also vent frustration about the park or anything else. I honestly think the majority would agree that this is a transition year, but we still want the best from our park. Especially as a seasson pass holder for so many years I feel that I have a right to expect a high level of upkeep, operations, and improvements. Afterall I spend a great deal of money at the park as do many other people here. I will admit I think SOB was and is a great addition, IJ:ST receives too much criticism, and Avatar saved face for the NU expansion. But I am quite unhappy with the level of upkeep with the themes on rides, the constant price increase, and what seems to be a maintence/staffing issue. I have the right as does everyone else. Nobody ever said we must be fanboys 24/7
-
Yeah TR:TR reminds me of Psyco path from last years FearFest. Just form one big line and keep walking. Hopefully they just turn all the lights and audio off during the ride, that would really save some money. I feel bad for the people in guest relations because I am sure they are getting more complaints than normal.
-
When it comes right down too it, this has been one of the most dissapointing years I have had at PKI so far. The park is highly overpriced, the ride theming has gone to crap on everything, and they need some help with staffing. PKI is moving towards the management skills of SixFlags and is looking less and less like it once did. Honestly hope someone buys the PP chain soon, because PKI is in serious need of some TLC. Im sick of TR:TR, FOF, and IJST looking like crap and the theming is going down hill so quickly. Honestly it doesnt take much. A few hours here and few hours there, a little paint, and some windex. (Has anyone else noticed how dirty the big mirror in the FOF building is?) I still enjoy the park but Im tired of limbo. They either need to sell it or recomit to making PKI one of the great seasonal parks. p.s. Did Jeff see the future and leave before the ship went down? Kinda interesting.
-
^ ^ Then I think you will agree that they are much worse than SOB
-
Son of Beast Yes thats right I am one of the few that love this ride. Why because for 99% of the ride is extremely loud, violent, and out of control. The only exception is the loop, which provides a moment of grace and complete silence. The loop is almost as if the world goes into slow motion because it is such a contrast from the rest of the ride. Thats why SOB in my opinion is the best. P.S. anyone that says I am crazy, because SOB just beats the hell out of you. Well go ride some other woodies around the country like Texas Giant, Raggin Wolf Bobs and then we will talk.

In Park Dining Planing Survey from Paramount Parks
RailRider replied to PKIVortex's topic in Kings Island
I went off about Wings and the worthless excuse it is for a dinning area in the park. That place needs to be torn down and made a family style buffet like Coasters at CP. PKI needs some serious help with their food services, because honestly they suck compared to other parks. -
I remember the WAH and honestly it was not that impressive. Besides with the state of the art animal exhibts around today, PKI would need to spend way too much money to make the new WAH a worthwile attraction. Anyways I dont think they would ever do something on the lines of BuschGardens in Tampa, Animal Kingdom or even Sea World. Not to mention people in Ohio can go visit the WILDS which is a truly amazing animal exhibit. Bringing back the WAH would be the biggest mistake and waste of money PKI could ever make.
