As some may have noticed, I plug easywdw.com whenever Disney planning is discussed. Josh at EasyWDW has the best crowd calendars around for Disney World. Here is his recommendation for Magic Kingdom for 10/20 By the way the most recommended park for the day was Hollywood Studios. All in all Im glad you had a good, even if busy time. WDW Hollywood Studios

I agree Gator, Fantasmic is one of our favorite nighttime shows and Illuminations is just ok, nothing more. And yes December we will still get to see the Frozen Sing Along show. -
Funny these have all been major discussion points and case studies for the marketing classes I teach. Textbooks don't even write material this perfect.

^ Really seems like the only way to have a lifeguard do it. Thanks for the info.

Im still hung up on the whole weight restriction issue and it being the riders responsibility to know their combined weight with their ride partner. I will be honest as someone who does not frequent seasonal water parks a great deal I can't remember seeing signs like this on multiple slide complexes. Now Im used to being weighed before hitting some of the huge slides like Tornado's and such, but other than that it has never been mentioned. But during this time of year we typically visit the indoor water parks like Great Wolf and such for weekend trips with another family. We have probably visited most of the Indoor Parks within a 6 hour drive of central Ohio. The other Dad and I always try rides out before getting on them with the kids and I am now realizing we have been destroying these weight limits. Neither one of us is obese by any means, but we are 2 stout guys and looking at us you wouldn't think we pass the 400lb max. Never once have we been questioned about our weight when pairing up. I would consider myself well versed in the industry, but this realization makes me feel quite dumb yet realize that if I am unaware of these limits there is a very strong chance Average Joe is even more so. If weight is such an important factor why are they not weighing folks just like they check height. Once again is it a reasonable expectation by a park to assume you know your own weight let along the weight of the person you are ridding with and that weight is an important factor just like height?

How has this man been successful in business? I expect to receive my notice of suit shortly because I am sure I have made what the park would consider disparaging remarks over the past 121 pages regarding their actions and stupidity. That to me is the most shocking thing about Mr. Harts comments, when he shouldn't make comments, is that the park will not stand for disparaging remarks about the park and if you do we are going to sue you. Also I like to see they are supporting their young employees now, unlike earlier when they sacrificed a young employee for approaching a breast feeding mom in the park. Should be pretty easy to show how incompetent this park is, starting with leadership. Oh wait my lawyer has advised me that I have No Comment regarding Mr. Hart, his leadership abilities or the future of this park. But this mans an idiot, I mean No Comment.

5th Walt Disney World Theme Park?
RailRider replied to Colonel_SoB_fan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^ Have done the Yachstman and we much prefer Le Cellier for dinner. The Yachstman has a lovely wood on wood theme with an air of east coast yacht club snobbery that was unappealing. I will stick with the Ribeye or Filet from Le Cellier and some beer cheese soup and pretzel bread. And if we are talking romantic we love Narcossees's for dinner and then Wishes from the dock. -
^ Which once again begs the question, is the park advertising in out of state markets next year because it is ready or because it must? I hope KK has an understanding of who they are competing against in these other markets once they start advertising in them. Kings Island, Holiday World, Dollywood and other local attractions are very much their competition.
-
If they didn't it was very dumb. Then again not viewing Kings Island and Holiday World as competition is very misguided as well.

A very tragic event. A loss like this always reminds me of what James 4:14 says (Im paraphrasing) Life is but a vapor. Like the morning mist. Here for a little while then vanishing away. Very very sad and I pray for the family and everyone else involved. Preexisting Respiratory Condition, the article does not state if this was a known or unknown condition. I wonder if more details will come out about this. I hope in good taste Land of Illusion doesn't use this as marketing once all legal maters are done.

Disney is spending a lot
RailRider replied to TTD-120-420's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That annual Capex amount is for all projects for that year at all parks. The article is identifying the major project for that year where the majority of the money went, but it is not saying that each of those projects cost that much. Capex is comprised of all park improvements, refurbishments, additions, repaintings and such. -
As I said in the last line of my debated post. The forums are a great jumping off point. Now if you want to let the biased opinions on these forums sway your opinion that is on you, but there is typically some well thought out interpreting by many on various park related topics.

Having done Disney on the Cheap, Moderate and Military last year. Yes SoG along with the discounted park tickets is an amazing savings. Also SoG has a great location and can almost be considered a monorail resort seeing as you can walk to the Poly station in 10 minutes. Moderate has always been our favorite and we have always tried to travel with free dining, but... This year we are blowing it out Disney style for Christmas. Staying in a Villa at Bay Lake Tower, Deluxe Dinning (Only paid to upgrade since we got free table service (5 signature meals for the week)), flying (have always driven) and will be attending a Christmas Party at the Kingdom. Did I mention we are party of 6? Still for what we are paying it is not that bad overall all things considered and it is Christmas and Vacation rolled in to one. -
Disney Fastpass+ at Walt Disney World
RailRider replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I have heard that about the 4th. Still the ability to have 3 pre booked prior to arrival for my family is a much better system than me running around the park collecting tickets. -
Honestly you will probably find the most links and such from this forum. Some of which will no longer lead to pertinent information. Happy sifting. Just to show that KIC has been fairly unbiased and accurate over the years of park discussions, do a brief search for some recent highly touted cant fail parks. Hard Rock Park and Wheeling's Wild Escape just to name a few. Not saying this site is the end all be all, but the forums are typically a great jumping off spot.

^ Did you get a chance to use the mobile app as well? Would you say availability for rides was equal, better, or worse than Legacy FP? Thanks for the review. -
^ Well done. Bravo...

Soarin and Test Track are both Tier 1 FP+ at Epcot. We are doing a late arrival at Epcot because it is mainly a World Showcase and Illuminations day. So we are doing Test Track over Soarin and may potentially go for our 4th FP later in the day. -
^ They are only wiling to assist guests if breastfeeding or wearing red spedos. I joke of course, but during an election year, in a politically charged environment and for a park that fell short of expectations the timing could not be much worse.

Disney Fastpass+ at Walt Disney World
RailRider replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
For those that have visited both Land and World, prior to the new MyMagic system will agree they were similar in name only. Those 2 places are far different from one another and each holds a very special place in my families heart. They really are like comparing apples to oranges. -
Vortex acting werid when I went last. (last weekend)
RailRider replied to JubJester's topic in Trip Reports
I would be more concerned with the fact Vortex is sinking rather than a squeaking wheel. -

Whats funny is people continue to make this argument about on-site guests getting benefits over off-site. I have never once heard anyone scream that both Disney and Universal should stop this practice. Yes that is right if you stay at one of Universal's Deluxe hotels each park paying guest gets Universal Express, which allows guests to skip the lines in both parks all day. But if you want to save a bit of money stay at Cabana Bay or off-site and you don't get this benefit. Lets be honest, the cost of the 60 day FP+ window, Magic Express, Disney Transportation, location and EMH is all factored in to the cost of staying at a Disney Property. Just like the cost of free soft drinks is calculated in to the price of admission at Holiday World.
