  1. ^ If the park is still in operation by 2016. Nothing is given with a new or reopening park. Look at how short lived Hard Rock Park / Freestyle Music Park lasted.
  2. I would rather go to Florida than VA Beach in August. Both are incredibly Hot! Also may I recommend staying in Williamsburg rather than VA Beach. Marriott Vacation Club Fords Colony is amazing as is Williamsburg.
  3. I know the article says "more than," but lets assume the number is somewhere near the 30,000 mentioned. The park is wanting to tout success so if it were 40k or 50k I am sure they would have said it. The Columbus Zoo did right around 30,000 both Saturday and Sunday, yet KK only averaged 10,000 per day over the first 3 days? Am I reading too much in to this or should I be concerned? Seems a bit low.
  4. ^ And KI has the Tan Box already
  5. KI needs to call Vekoma and install the best ride to ever reside inside a Tan Box http://www.thrillhunter.com/Chaos.html
  6. As others have said if you are staying 8 days you do not need to hop from park to park. An 8 day ticket is a lot of days in the parks, honestly 5 to 6 will cut it and that is at a relaxed pace. Also if going in October there are deals available, either free dinning or room discounts no need to pay rack rates or get the free meal plan.
  7. Saw the show during the Media Preview on Friday Night that the park opened up to the public. What an awesome gesture by the park to do that and the show is amazing. The theater was packed and the folks around us were honestly on the edge of their seats with anticipation on what the performers would do next. Highly entertaining and something I know my family will go back and see again and again. The previous shows in the theater were something you watched once and that was good enough, Ed Alonzo started to change the quality of the shows in the theater, but Cirque took it to a new level. Also the main set piece the giant color changing mountain is really amazing to lookout and how the performers interact with it and the sound track actually adds to the suspense and performance value of the show. Some of the technical set pieces are quite impressive as well. I was skeptical of this show and thought it would be just ok and kind of cheesy. Thank you for proving me wrong KI. Can't wait to see it again and again and again.
  8. All great advice. Only one thought to add. Focus your place of stay closest to your main area of visitation. i.e. Universal / I-Drive, Disney World Area or the Gulf Coast. Orlando traffic can be a nightmare and if you are spending a lot of time in the car chances are you will hit traffic at some point. After many trips to the Orlando area, most of which I have driven down I hate spending every day in the car. This is the main reason we pick a resort that offers transportation to the parks we want to hit and honestly at this point we like to at a resort property either Disney or Universal. Non resort properties I would recommend that I have stayed at: Marriott's Grande Vista - Awesome Vacation Club and themed pools, great location also Bonnet Creek - Great resort and location All Star Vacation Homes - Numerous homes with private pools to rent - great for large families or multiple families I am not a fan of I-Drive standard chain hotels. From my experience they are typically a bit run down, worn out and nothing to write home about. This is to be expected seeing as I-Drive gets a lot of the tourists that flock to the area and the room turn over is outrageous. Just a warning from my experience. I would rather stay at one of the places above or even better a resort property like Disney's Coronado Springs or Universals Royal Pacific.
  9. I agree that Universal is a 1 - 2 day park and there is little reason to stay late at their parks, no great nighttime entertainment. Disney I would agree is 3-4 day minimum if only doing the parks. Although I would argue AK is a half day park and HS is a full day with nighttime entertainment. This will soon change once the new nighttime show is added at AK. Also MK is very hard to do in 1 day with average crowds, if you do it in only 1 day you will be darn near exhausted the next. One of the major mistakes folks make is not giving themselves breaks while at Disney. They are much needed and add to the enjoyment of the trip. A 3 hour afternoon break is much better than that midday show, parade, and ride on the Magic Carpets of Aladdin.
  10. Chaos was a very fitting name for that model of ride. You were taking a chance chaos would ensue ridding.
  11. A 1 day park hopper at DisneyWorld is $134 before tax. Neither Universal or Disney wants you to visit only 1 day, which is why they incentivize multi day tickets. Although Universal is a much deeper discount on multiple days than Disney.
  12. with all of the improvements to become property of the fair board - This amazes me. Hart and his group are nothing more than operators of the park and with the wording of the lease in this article have zero ownership in anything new or improved at the park. The Fair Board will continue to be the hindrance to this park being successful, but I hope for the best.
  13. We will be there Friday.
  14. I miss Chaos! I was so upset when Cedar Point took it out. I don't remember any ticking clocks though... Wait, what? That's a different Chaos? Oops, my bad, carry on! And I really enjoyed that Chaos as well... Hmm more rides should be named Chaos. Diamondchaos, Chaoshee, Chaos The Ride, the possibilities are limitless.
  15. http://deadspin.com/photo-evidence-that-james-harrison-is-terrified-of-roll-1578464857 Thank you Deadspin for these pictures. Looks like Test Track at Epcot, also the link has a picture of him on Space Mountain as well.
  16. I wonder if there has been any discussion to make the 2 parks a single admission price? Eliminate the need for park hopping and just treat the whole thing as a one ticket attraction? Just curious as to the percentage of folks that will only buy a single park ticket without the hoping option? Also how many angered park goers will make the upgrade purchase in the park. Honestly doesn't mater how many times a person is told about the need for the hopper or the signage, folks will miss it and it will be everyone else fault except theirs. I don't know the answers to these questions, but I imagine they were some interesting conversation that were had over the issues Hogwarts Express will create.
  17. I was a former owner of FUN, bought around $13 a share a few years back, sold once it broke through $40 Also owned Disney that I bought around $23 a share and sold for a nice profit as well. I held a few other leisure stocks that I have sold Great Wolf, Royal Caribbean to name a few. I always approached buying stock as something to do for fun, own what I like, and I always bought when I thought they were low with the intention to hold them until they reached certain dollar amounts. Typically a long range plan. But if you are investing for your son I would recommend at looking at a mutual fund or an age based fund of funds. Also you can set these up where there are tax benefits and tax savings. Taxes are a big issue when you just have a standard open stock account and they can eat in to the profits. Something else to consider is making monthly investments in your account, no matter if the market is up or down. As always I advise speaking with an individual that has the appropriate certifications and doesn't work for a bank. Sorry folks but bank employed investment reps make some of the biggest commissions in the industry as well as sell what they are told or incentivized to sell.
  18. ^ Amazing how a few dinosaurs can change a ride. Love Dinosaur, but Indy is still one of my favorites Got a partial lights on ride on Dinosaur last year because of a technical issue, kind of neat but also really killed the ride experience once the lights went back off.
  19. ^ Very weird, I am sure you have tried using a different browser. I would recommend contacting Disney World Vacations, the number is listed on the WDW site, they should be able to assist you with this.
  20. ^ I understand what you are saying. Still for my money Indiana Jones at Disneyland is the best simulator/dark ride around.
  21. ^ BlackFish is not helping Sea World one bit, Seaworld has quite the hill to climb. I expect Gringott's to be similar to the Mummy but with HD projections and 3-D elements. Should be very interesting once it opens to see how guests flow between the 2 parks and how the line stack ups for the quasi train ride. I imagine it will be quicker to walk from park to park then take the Hogwarts Express.
  22. I really hope the train does not take away from the enjoyment of this ride. The shin restraints also seem to tuck the riders legs back somewhat. Look at the knees and shins of the riders in the video and how the restraints seem to tuck their feet back. Just odd looking.
  23. ^ No as Disney has stated numerous times they are not tracking folks movement within the parks. RFID is not GPS, it is a very close proximity radio signal, that only picks up signals within a few meters. Don't worry you are not being micro chipped for government tracking purposes...
  24. Yeah the shin restraints look very uncomfortable and unnecessary. I don't remember seeing those in any of the pictures or renderings. Weird.
  25. Glitches are bound to happen, then again I am amazed of only the one known crash. Obviously not a Windows based operating system... I continue to hear rumors about new rollouts within the system over the next year or so and the one that intrigues me the most is utilizing the RFID technology in the Magic Band. Basically from my understanding is there would be interactive elements throughout the parks that would pick up your RFID as you went by in close proximity and it would activate some sort of unique experience. Think of something along the lines of Glow with the Show. Should be interesting to see how the system continues to develop.
