  1. I believe the media event is April 30th, they may have potential soft openings prior to that date.
  2. Just passed the $500 mark today!!! Almost to my goal and hoping I can blow by it. What do we do if someone wants to donate through a check? I assume from what I have ready have it made out to A Kid Again, mail to the Greater Cincy office and enter the information on the online first giving site? Am I missing anything regarding this process? Also check out my page if you feel led to give. https://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/ScottNeff/screamforakidagain
  3. The whole ride looks great and I think the mine scene will surely make up for the removal of the former Snow White ride. So excited to be riding this in December at Disney!
  4. A very tragic accident that seems like it should have been preventable
  5. No need for the self righteous attitude regarding folks raising the minimum, compared to those that raised a bit more. Having 10 people raise the minimum, that is $1,000 for A Kid Again. I appreciate everyone's effort in raising $100 or more and I am sure A Kid Again appreciates this as well. I don't understand the hate towards folks that have either raised or payed their way for this event, it all goes to a good cause, and will be an amazing time. Thanks to everyone for your effort no mater how big or small.
  6. I think if anyone should be complaining of the long day it should be Don. Wonder how many interviews you will give on media day and then for the A Kid Again Event?
  7. Love this attraction and amazing how some things remain timeless. The California Version is still my favorite, but in honor of the 50th we just booked our trip to the World in December. Can hardly wait to sing that song that so many have the whole way there.
  8. I am leaving my wife and daughter back at the hotel for this as well. While not new to the site this technically my first event that is somewhat site related, looking forward to meeting some more KIC'ers
  9. I got the same email!
  10. Yes this is the same as the blueberry ice cream twist that can be found around the park, but heavily dyed aka Banshee Twist that was introduced last season version. Interesting observation after returning home after enjoying a Banshee Twist. The heavy use of food coloring to get the bright colors may cause an unintended result when going to the bathroom. Lets just say I was concerned at first and thought a trip was needed to the local hospital, then it dawned on me why I was seeing purple
  11. So far after a few days of fundraising I am at 31% of my goal, excited to see how much I can raise by the end. Really Excited for this event. Please check my page out. https://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/ScottNeff/screamforakidagain
  12. Thanks for the response. Will leave the wife and kido back at the hotel for the evening... Hahaha, just realized how bad that sounds after I typed it.
  13. Notice the covered pavilion in the former Action Zone circle? That is what it looks like to me anyways.
  14. Neither side looks good at this point. Basically pointing fingers back and forth. Gerstlauer's comments that Six requested no seat belts and if they have that in writing seems very damaging to Six's argument. Amazed that a manufacturer would change a key safety design specifically because a park requests it. After all who is the manufacturer and who is the operator? Almost makes me think that having the contract for the Hybrid Coaster Trains and appeasing Six was more important than the manufacturers integrity. I could be wrong, but I don't see a company like B&M making concessions to their designs regarding specific items related to safety and reliability.
  15. Been a great day fundraising today. Was curious if you are allowed to bring any non riders with you in to the event or the park?
  16. Are prototypes usually cheaper? I wouldn't call Lightning Run a prototype. Think of a prototype as something that breaks new ground. Cable lift, Inverted, Hydraulic Launch, Wing, 4th Dimension. These new rides typically have some never before used technology, track design, or train design. Nothing about this ride screams prototype to me, more of a new model. Chance/Morgan has done Hyper Coasters and Family Coasters. This fits somewhere in the middle. The lower cost is due to small footprint, less steel and things along those lines. After all this is not a very large coaster so the cost isn't going to be huge. Think roughly the length of The Bat at KI with about the same ride time.
  17. Today is My Birthday and I figured rather than celebrate about me, why not join this cause and see what I can raise between now and the 13th. Please support my campaign if you can. https://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/ScottNeff/screamforakidagain
  18. I believe the man on the right is Richard Zimmerman the COO of Cedar Fair.
  19. Coaster is looking great, still can't believe how little attention this has gained. Could be a great little coaster model for parks to add that doesn't cost an arm and leg and that bridges the gap between kiddie coasters and high thrill coasters. What I would refer to as a Family/Junior Thrill Ride
  20. I figured I would hijack this topic, since you have hijacked the site with a plethora of new pointless topics
  21. The Tiques keep Stalin is the best part, in my humble opinion.
  22. This has been posted before, but with the discussion of the Eagles recently it seems fitting. Also I think he would approve of the new addition.
  23. The sweeps throughout Disney parks make some of the most lasting memories for kids. Always referring to Little Miss RailRider as Princess, taking the extra minute to make her fee special. Plus they are great knowledge for hidden Mickey's and character meet up tips. Plus they get to hand out all the awesome buttons. First Time, Celebrating, Anniversary and the like. Then again Disney views their sweeps very differently than most parks.
  24. ^ Did the park not operate 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 under SIX? While you may argue the decline started in 2006 or sooner, the park was operational for those years and did not reopen in 2010. Once again we may not like what happened in the past, but we cannot turn a blind eye to it. Just like you may not like some folks, mine included, prediction of the future because of the parks past, current actions (or in-actions), coupled with past history of the industry as a whole.
  25. I am passionate about the industry. Anyone that has been around this site long enough has seen my love of parks and enjoyment of sharing the experience with others. Am I a hater? No, but that doesn't mean I will not offer my opinion on where I see Kentucky Kingdom or any new park going off course. Go read the Hard Rock Park forum and you will see many of the same discussions, not as many pages because it doesn't have the local flavor, but still many pages discussing the potential issues of that park. Funny many of those same issues are steps KK is making. KIC is one of the few sites out there that doesn't cater solely to "Fanboys." This site has very real discussions on everything from Kings Island, to Kentucky Kingdom, to Disney with real opinions and thoughts. Everything is not rainbows and sunshine around here and that is why it is a great site. That is also why this is a great topic, because there is real discussion regarding Kentucky Kingdom. KK should be thrilled that the park is generating this kind of discussion because it means enthusiasts locally want to see the park succeed, even if we don't agree with the decisions being made. I would argue if there was no discussion about the opening and actions of Kentucky Kingdom then there is no interest in the park or its future. Then again the parks wants me to be a "Fanboy" and love all of their decisions and additions and wait with bated breath for the park to open and have zero concern for its future viability.
