  3. I still believe if Sea World would have come right out and fought Blackfish from the beginning it would never have been so harmful, but the approach to ignore a National story is the worst move possible. Once again a great case study in Public Relations and how not to do it. When you operate in the tourist/customer driven industry you must recognize and resolve all issues that impact your customers opinions of the product your provide. There are numerous examples of how not to do it and examples of how to do it. I use a few of these as case studies in the Marketing classes I teach. Carnival Triumph - Fire vs Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas fire Sea World - Blackfish Six Flags New Texas Giant Death The New Kentucky Kingdom
  4. Silver Dollar City is a beautiful park with some unique rides. Looks like a great addition.
  5. Park Management on the Cheap, Blackfish, and poor public relations regarding Blackfish have added greatly to SEAS lack of success. Both Disney and Universal are experiencing excellent growth in the Orlando Market, yet Sea World continues to flounder. The 2 Busch Parks are not what they once were either. Talking with some long time season pass holders they are extremely unhappy with the turn they have seen their parks take. People need a reason to leave Disney or Universal property and SEAS is not providing them with that reason, if anything they are reaffirming the choice not to leave.
  6. Due to internal miscommunication and confusion we have decided to honor the $9.95 price at the gate. Back Room Internal Communication: King of the Kingdom - "Hey, who is the idiot that authorized a $9.95 gate price, only available at Krogers?' Yes Man/Troll - "Sire we terminated him after the breastfeeding incident" King - "Thats just great, who do I blame now? Bring me one of the confused and under trained employees." Troll - "Yes Sire, what excuse do we use this time? How about due to miss numeration or the so-called employee suffered from dyslexia?" King - "That might just work, now someone get this wheelchair ramp off these steps. Its good to be the King!"
  7. ^ Agreed Indiana Jones is the best ride/attraction I have ever experienced as well. I am one of the few who likes the ride experience of both Indiana Jones and Dinosaur over something like Spider Man and other similar styles. I also understand the sentiment about Walt's Original design, but does that mean that no original Walt attractions can be removed or changed?
  8. I understand what you are saying, but the majority of Disney's big attractions are based or themed around an iconic character(s). I would much rather it be an established character or franchise than something that fades away over time and makes you scratch your head as to why it exists in the park still. This is why I still scratch my head at Toontown at Disneyland, a whole area themed after Roger Rabbit? Really? My humble opinion it needs bulldozed.
  9. This is the perfect way they could have answered all the questions regarding the numerous newsworthy issues at the park this year. Ooopppsss... We messed up.
  10. I still wonder what the carrying power of Potter will be in the next 10+ years, same can be said for Avatar. These characters or brands have not been established as long as say Mickey Mouse, Marvel, or Snow White. Disney has always been hesitant to act on the success of a character because who wants a whole area dedicate to Princess & the Frog, where Universal is much quicker to act on any brand success because they have fewer brands with the established longevity Disney does. 2 companies in 2 very different positions within the product life cycle.
  11. Guess that speaks volumes to Kentucky Kingdoms ride line up
  12. Also Malestrom is one of the worst capacity rides at Disney. A new ride experience, done right would be a huge addition to Epcot which is in need of a new major attraction
  13. Posting from a mobile device today while in hospital waiting on daughter #2 to arrive.
  14. The ride has been removed and it now houses Princess Fairytale Hall. Where you can meet Cinderella, Rapunzel, Anna , Elsa and many others. The 7 Dwarfs Mine Train has opened in New Fantasyland and some of the classic animatronics make an appearance
  15. The only complaints I have heard about the new system is from enthusiasts and it has been very few and far between honestly. Like Gabe said nothing more fun than showing up to a Disney Park in the head of Summer finding a 2 hour wait for Splash Mountain and no Legacy FP available, because your family wasn't able to rope drop the park. Now a family can spend 2 days at Magic Kingdom and FP+ Big Thunder, Space and Splash Mountain day 1 and 7 Dwarfs, Enchanted Tales with Belle, and Pirates day 2 with little to no wait in line. Also they can schedule this 30+ days from arrival, which is a huge bonus if you ask me. Lets be honest the majority of visitors don't go in to Disney with a well crafted plan of attack, most just show up with tickets and a rough idea of what they want to ride. They are not enthusiasts like us who honed our craft of collecting Legacy Passes throughout the park ahead of the hoard of humanity. Disney is helping average Joe do a bit more planning which will result in a better trip. I have talked to numerous families that have used the new system and who have never done much planning. They absolutely loved FP+ and especially the benefit of the Magic Bands accessibility and usability throughout the resort. Convenience is the name of the game and a less stress filled Disney vacation is something most families have been wanting, especially during the hot Florida Summer.
  16. Besides the Dippers and the Haunted House there is not much here that draws me back. More has left the park than has been added to the park over these past few years, which is sad. One of the few times that I think ride tickets would draw more guests that flat rate entry pricing.
  17. How things change in just a few short years when curtains come down...
  18. Here is where I disagree. Someone who has been to Disney World at least once a year for the past 6 years during various crowd levels. Legacy Fast Pass was fine and dandy if you didn't mind the forced march to Soarin or Toy Story Midway Mania or any other highly popular ride. While you pushed ahead hoping to score a FP return window before evening or worse before they were out. Rope Drops were crucial importance because you had to be in before everyone else, Race down Main Street, grab your FP's and then race to line. Yup a great system that surely didn't need fixed. Now I can schedule these crucial FP+ before I ever step foot in the park and I don't have to race to any key morning attraction hoping to obtain the all valuable legacy FP. Now its a leisurely stroll down Main Street, ride some lesser attractions and hit the big ones when My FP+ reservations open. I will take option #2 any day of the week. Also the fact I can add a 4th, 5th or more after experiencing the first 3 from any kiosk or the app without running across the park. Perfect example of how awesome this is. Last year we were at Disney for 5 days, I was the runner for our party of 7. By the end of those 5 days I had logged over 50 miles in the parks because of the running. I would much rather have planned my vacation out than running that much over 5 days in the Florida Heat. We are going again in December and I have loved all the My Magic enhancements. Is it perfect? No, but it is a far cry better than the old system. I am looking forward to my first trip to Disney in which I don't have to leave my party.
  19. I hope there is no plan for paddle boats in the lazy river again.
  20. Journalistic Reporting at its Finest. Leaving much to be desired in details. As a parent I would not let me child ride by themselves. Autistic or not. Also as a parent I would not get a second opinion for a different paramedic. I respect paramedics and what they do immensely, but if I want a second opinion I will see a doctor. Finally why is this woman calling 911 over an hour after this event? This is not an emergency situation, you are diverting resources that could be better used for real emergencies. Also it looks as if the park could have handled this better, but we will know more once their statement is released on this event.
  21. Magnum was and is the only ride I was terrified of ridding as a kid. Still remember my first trip to Cedar Point with my family and walking in through the back entrance because we were staying at the Sandcastle. I had ridden a few coasters already, but nothing that big and the lift hill looks like it should fall over. What a first ride and have loved it ever since. Only suggestion for ridding is sit down, hold on and enjoy. Magnum is going to do what Magnum is going to do no matter how you brace yourself. The pain is worth the joy.
  22. If you truly want to eliminate the urban environment of your park change the pricing strategy. If you want a Summer baby sitting location, keep your pricing strategy as is. Once again you have operated in this market, you should know better. A park could make a great splash by purchasing Lightning Run and Time Machine from the used rides inter webs for a reasonable investment in the next few years.
  23. Hmmmm Thunderbird or the potential reopening of T2 next year. hmmmmm Decisions decisions...
