I should be noted that there was an update to the KI and CP app for androids yesterday. (However my vouchers showed up even when they did the 'test' earlier this week.) -

Looks like they are aiming for 10,000 for each day. It will be interesting to see how the reservations fill up now that they are live. I'm expecting them to lax the 1 visit per season pass holder once they see what the demand is. -

Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks

I believe Universal is selling masks for $6 or 3 for $15. Hopefully CF will follow suit (I would love a Beast one. Plus Cedar Point can make a 150 year anniversary mask. I would buy one just as a collectors item. https://allears.net/2020/05/14/news-universal-orlando-selling-hand-sanitizer-and-face-masks-at-its-retail-locations/ -

My wife heard a tip to put a napkin between the mask and the bridge of your nose. That way the napkin will soak up the moisture and your glasses won't fog. -

Interesting how much things change in a week. Last week there was a post on facebook about KI and their new guidelines and it seemed about 50% of the people were complaining about having to wear masks and the other guidelines and had some supportive replies. I noticed one today and about 5% were complaining and very few of them had supportive replies. Looks like KI holding to their guns is working. Good for them. I've been outside working in the yard with a mask for 3 hours just to see how bad it would be and I was absolutely fine (and I'm over 50!) in 90 degree heat. People are generally resistant to change, they were that way with seatbelts in the beginning as well. Stick to your standards KI, there are people out here who support you for it and appreciate it. -
I've been a programmer for over 25 years and I can tell you that test servers are tricky. Even when you duplicate the environment exactly there are still differences between test and live. Live has so many more variables that are not controllable (human users for example). They could have put the word "test" on the icons for the reservations (or a small text block explaining it was test) and simply removed that when they did go live. It would have cleared up confusion. In addition the link was never publicly released so they probably underestimated the number of people who would try and find a link. (I did make a reservation, but found it on a thread on this site). I probably would have done the same as them (and have in the past) but with clarification on the actual site the it was a "test" environment. Wouldn't have been a bad idea to keep it up (adding the "test" message) and make it public to get an idea of the demand. Also it would have helped people understand the registration process. Just my thoughts.

I ended up getting an email later in the evening notifying me that it was a test system and my reservation would not be valid automatically and to watch for when the reservation site goes live. Nice that they sent out that email to remove doubt.

As far as the deaths go There's "Tower Johnny" Also on Wednesday, May 18, William Dunn, the investigator from the Warren County Sheriff's Office received the autopsy and lab results. While no drugs were in John's system at the time of his death, he did have a blood-alcohol level of 0.21%, which is over twice the then-legal drunk driving limit. At the time, Dunn refused to release the autopsy report to the press. http://kingsislandghosts.blogspot.com/2018/04/the-truth-behind-tower-johnny.html#:~:text=A high schooler%2C "Tower Johnny, bare bones remain the same. and also Candy Taylor Just after this at the back of the park, Ms. Taylor, who was drunk, boarded Flight Commander at approximately 9:45pm. She rode by herself which later was determined to be the cause of her death. As the ride proceeded, she passed out (her Blood Alchohol level was 3.0. ) while flipping the ride upside down. Since her body was limp, she slid to the side towards the empty seat next to her and out of the over-the-shoulder restraint and lap bar. She fell 60 feet to the concrete below in front of eye-witnesses who were horrified. A design flaw in the ride was blamed. The ride was closed the rest of the 1991 season, but re-opened in 1992.

I was the same way, it was the physicality of the habit more than the addiction to the nicotine. What triggered me was when I went to the doctor and the found my blood pressure to be "a little high". My father had high blood pressure so I was concerned. My doctor told me that if I stopped smoking I wouldn't have to go on medication for my blood pressure and it worked. That was what made me finally quit after 3 attempts. (Also my first grandchild was born and I promised my step-daughter I would stop, haven't had one since). Good luck and you'll find your trigger. When you do be warned your sense of smell will be on 11. I can smell cigarette smoke from 100 feet away.

Sorry to hear about the panic attacks. I've been around people when they have them. I hope you can figure out the best way to live with it and get it under control.
-
Actually, I was fine when they didn't sell alcohol in the park as well. Anything that clouds judgment when around parks is not a good idea. Most of the deaths that happened at KI were alcohol related.

I agree with you as a past smoker (9 years and counting). I would prefer smoking areas that are not seen from the main causeways. #1) it kept me from jonesing for one and #2) it keeps it out of the eyes of children. My wife still smokes and she limits herself to 1 each visit, usually in the middle of our day. I used to say I stopped smoking but a friend of mine said never be a quitter. If I find out I have some other disease that's going to kill me in 6 months anyway, hand the coffin nails over :):)

That's my point and only when it came to masks did anyone make a big deal out of it. I was referring to the article in the paper where people were complaining that when they bought their season pass last year the masks were not a rule and they should be entitled to a refund. Frankly since they extended everything trough 2021 I believe that was a much better way to do it. Plus right now anyone who buys a pass has it good through 2021. My bet is they end up getting new pass holders into the mix. People need to remember that it can always be worse. Right now there are entire states that are requiring masks in public. No exceptions. https://masks4all.co/what-states-require-masks/ Delaware, Maine, California, Puerto Rico, District of Columbia (D.C.) have mask requirements for the entire state, everywhere in public.
-
Guess we'll be seeing a petition about this next. "This wasn't that way when I bought my season pass"
-
I know right. Wonder if they need any testing done on cancelling a reservation
-
Well, I can tell them it worked. It even showed up on my app. Hopefully they will reset or honor it.

Just because someone had to look it up. It stated on their website: Wearing masks or face coverings if you wish to do so (not a requirement for entrance). -
Remember when an asteroid hitting the planet was considered catastrophic! They need to change it from an asteroid to a COVID-19 molecule. Now that's terrifying :):)

Just and idea but with all the zoom, webex meetings, etc. It would be nice not just to have a POV but also a reverse POV so I can have my grand kids believing I'm on the ride when we have our weekly online meeting

Unless they are in agreement with what the government is saying. Then it's a different story.
