  1. Upgrading to Platinum would be worth it if you are planning on going into the park/shores for 2 or more days. Also depending on when you go there are discounted rooms for platinum pass holders at the Breakers (mostly early-season). We stay at the Breakers at least 10 nights a year and LOVE IT. The staff is top notch and there is plenty to do in the hotel (Tomo's is amazing) as well as the indoor pool and arcade for when the weather ends up being 'not so nice'. It's also easier to the gates. There are suite rooms that can handle 6 people at the breakers. Never stayed at lighthouse point. Heard good things about it, just prefer the ambiance of the Breakers. One thing about the Breakers, there is no coffee makers in the room, so if you're a coffee drinker take your own (we have a single-serve kurig we take each time we go, along with a bottle of Baileys :)). Any other questions, just ask and have a great time!
  2. My guess would be less area to cover. Remember, it's not just the people working the stations. It is also security, sweepers, etc. But I agree it is way to crowded and confusing trying to do it all in Planet Snoopy.
  3. I went Friday night and was very pleased overall. I felt sorry for the "host" during the 7:30 release. He obviously wasn't let in on what the soundtrack was saying. He did his best. My suggestion would be either don't move your mouth at all (make it seem telepathic) or pull your hood over your head more and face your head down so no one can see your lips moving (or not). Either way I feel for him because it was obvious management didn't let him know the script for what is to be said. Aside from that it was a great way to kick of a great night. Also went Sunday with the grand kids and have some thoughts. First, all the Tween stuff is great. Orion could have used some more lights to see the 'clues'. The Mystery Museum was my favorite. Very will done with the story and the actors. I felt sorry for them because the line was 45 minutes long and people were confused as to whether it was a haunt like at night or not (one person even thought it was the old Tomb Raider ride:)). My suggestion would be that they could have the line for the tweens start at the fright pass entrance (since they don't offer fright passes for the tween stuff). That way people would see how 'long' the line is and can make a better decision on whether or not to wait. Several people were waiting in line from the cave entrance and giving up after it didn't move fast enough, or they saw that it just kept going. Again it was my favorite part and definitely needs to stay (it was nice seeing the Tomb Raider Idol in all her glory with lights on). Would also be good to get rid of the 'electricity' zapping noise during tween hours. Made the kids uneasy. Finally having the great pumpkin fest in Planet Snoopy is CROWDED and confusing. Sounds like a great idea on paper, but I can guarantee they ended up giving out way more candy than last year because of the proximity of the candy to rides, etc. Last year when it was separated form Planet Snoopy people had to commit and would probably only go over to the water park once and then come back to the main park. I would suggest looking at moving it to at least the picnic area so Planet Snoopy doesn't look so congested. Overall nice start to the Pumpkin Fest / Haunt season. Nicely done!

  5. Tilt-a-Whirl would be a great addition. Always a must ride when I head up to the point.
  6. Got my first ever as well 9.99 retro shirt. Only took 37 visits
  7. Kings Island is in need of a museum. I hope they are planning it for the season after next (50th anniversary). Especially now that Coney Island will no longer have any dry rides. The KI Museum should cover all the way back to Coney Island, since that's where KI came from. Easily enough time and material to do a whole museum to. You could have different areas of the museum highlighting shows, rides, coasters, etc. A train of cars from King Cobra would be a must as the first stand-up coaster. You could have one section of just all the maps through out the years. Hopefully someone will push to make this happen.
  8. They have this at Cedar Point and it is FANTASTIC! Really neat to go into the haunts with the lights on and see all the details you miss when being chased.
  9. The second one looks really nice. I would agree they will make the first hill taller. Also, don't forget to put a train on the track. All roller coasters have a train on the track on the maps
  10. I believe this is referring to the length of the TRACK. If the first hill had a steeper drop, it would be shorter in track length for the first hill. (just a guess)
  11. I appreciate your comments but would like to retort. CP doesn't always get record breakers. Fury 325 broke MF's record by over 20 feet. The bottom line is much research has been done by people more in the know than us and it "bigger, stronger, faster" sold tickets rest assured, they would do it. Fact is that doesn't sell tickets to the general public. In addition we got Grand Carnivale (CP didn't) and Winterfest (don't see that happening at CP). I've been going to KI for all of my life and over it's history having the "first" or "biggest" only worked out well one time (The Beast). The Bat was the first suspended and wasn't exactly successful. CP build Iron Dragon and it still stands today. King Cobra was the first stand up and had a shortened lifespan. CP build Mantis and was able to reuse the track for Rougaru. Fact stands that Orion will be one of only 5 giga coasters in the US (Cedar Fair has ALL of them). Neither Six Flags nor Magic Mountain nor Disney has a giga. We should appreciate the fact that Cedar Fair came in a bought Kings Island and kept developing it instead of having it meet the demise of Geagua Lake. Also, this is a B&M. Diamondback over the years has been pretty solid as a performer compared to Millennium Force. Diamondback doesn't have the cable lift hill nor does it valley (that I've ever heard of). In the end I'd rather have a "budget" giga and keep the price of season passes at $99 than pay $150 for a season pass and have a record breaking coaster that breaks down. Having a record breaking coaster is something that lasts one, maybe two seasons (or two months in Millennium Force's case). There is always bigger, faster, longer coming down the pike and it's a red herring not worth chasing. The ONE exception to this is The Beast. Still in my opinion the greatest coaster ever conceived and build. It held the height, length, and speed records for 10 years! No coaster will ever hold all three of those records for that long of a time. All that being said, I appreciate your enthusiasm and input and hope to see you on the rails!
  12. I actually think at this point why even have an announcement? The community has already done it for them. Cheap advertising and in actuality anything they announce will no longer be a surprise and can only come to criticism. "New for 2020, you know what it is, why tell you?" (Heck, there's even been a POV made).
  13. I've been going to KI as long as it's been open and I can truly say that with Grand Carnivale the have hit it out of the park and into the next state! From all the color and decorations to the entertainment to the Grand Carnivale theme song. It reminds me of the quality of entertainment that has not been seen at the park since the 80's when Taft were at the controls. Looking forward to taking the grand kids tonight to see all the colors and the parade. Everything on international street is centered around the event and it is one of the best events KI has ever done. If you like food (and who doesn't) don't miss the buffet at the International Restaurant. My wife and I ate in the International Restaurant last night and it was FANTASTIC! Everything was well seasoned and the view was the best! Hats off to Chef Major and crew, they are really stepping up the food game! If you get a chance $24.99 for gold & platinum pass holders is definitely a good deal in my wife's and my opinion (we both went back for seconds). The deserts are great also and the coffee up there is top notch. My only complaint may be that they aren't doing it till the end of July. This is a really nice event and it's been very unfortunate this year with the rain. I still have yet to see a parade (missed it last night because...SKILLET, who were awesome as usual). Hopefully the rain will hold off tonight. Either way I'll be missing it when it is gone but looking forward to next year. Once again, thanks KI for an absolutely wonderful idea executed extremely well, It's AMAZING in here
  14. My wife and I did the dining plan and have had 10 meals at the park this year between the two of us. The quality has been good. On of the bonuses of the dining plan is we get to try things we normally wouldn't. I hjad the chance to try the Impossible burger yesterday and it is fantastic. I'm not vegan (or vegetarian) by any means, but I will definitely be getting it again. I was on the edge about the cucumbers but they actually give the feeling of pickles without affecting the taste of the mustard. A must try, especially for anyone on the dining plan. Compliments to Chef Major!
  15. Yea, and just to add to the insanity, play the Baby Shark song......
  16. Nice quiz. Being one of the lucky ones to be at the park the first day it was open and an avid KI person, I appreciate the trip down memory lane. The official name of the "Scooby coaster" was Scooby-Doo. It's what I still call it to this day.
  17. Not sure. I bought my grandson's pass. You'll have to ask.
  18. I believe they allow the Funpix to be attached to 2 passes. I got Funpix for my grandson and he has it on his pass and I have it on my pass as well. May be worth asking.
  19. "Kramers Crossing" - Nice nod to Doug Kramer, director of safety and security. (I had to look that one up:))
  20. I'd love to see some attention to the train ride. Maybe not bring back the shooting Indians of old, but having a sister city to Bonesville at Cedar Point would be awesome!
  21. My wife and I go up to the point 3 times a year (first Sun. Mon. Tues. & Wed. they are open, a weekend with the grandchildren during the year and the last weekend they are open). My biggest advice would be stay at the Breakers! It is a little more expensive but early season they do have discounted rooms for platinum pass holders (put in the promo code PASS when reserving online). You get to park the car and not fight parking each day. Staying there get's you early entry and allows you to go back to the room and change if you get to wet on the rides or you need a rest. Plus you can pack sandwiches, etc. to save money on food. Word of caution, there are NO Coffee makers in the rooms! We have a small hamilton-beach kureg we always take up with us. The staff at the Breakers is top-notch and I've always found them more than helpful and friendly. Keep in mind that if you go before Memorial day, schools are in session which is a plus, but not all the shows are going (plus the new Frontier land will not be open until Memorial day this year). Make sure to ride the train, especially from the back of the park (near steel vengence) to the front. That section has a lot of boneville to enjoy. The other half is mostly a view of the lake. You can also get Famous Dave's and carry it back to your room (we have done this after the park has closed. Seems they keep the gates open for an hour after the park closes. Perkins in the Breakers is also great for breakfast, dinner or lunch. Tomo's hibachi grill in the Breakers is our favorite place to eat! Fridays in my opinion is overpriced and can be skipped. You can also order Domino's and they will deliver. Usually I get in an hour early and ride Maverick. I've ridden in 4 times in a row without getting off in the mornings before the crowds get back there. GateKeeper is the fastest line in the park so never be scared of the size of the line there. Also they don't close the line until the park closes so keep that in mind. Millennium Force has a decent line too but know that if it breaks down don't get out of line. Usually it is only down for about 10-15 minutes. Tues and Wed are definitely less crowded and you should have no problem covering the park in 2 days. If you have a platinum pass flash it everywhere. Most places (Perkins for example) will give you a discount with it. Also if you have a FunPix season pass make sure to go to the FunPix location at the front of the park to make sure your platinum pass is "synced" so it will work. Just ask them to verify they see it in their system. Finally dress for the weather. A windbreaker is a MUST. Know that the weather forecast for Sandusky is different than it is for the Point. Temps are a little cooler being on the water. Hope you have a great time!
  22. With grand kids ages 7, 4 & 3 I am excited about the return of the antique cars next year. My daughter even bought me a shirt for christmas!
  23. I agree. I have one from the very first season! One of my prized possessions!
  24. Yes, we've got 4 of them made. Last time we were there early (4:30) and the building had a sign to go to the windows. They were set up with cameras and able to process a new pass for my son.
