  1. Unfortunately, just because there's Gold Pass parking doesn't mean you'll be able to park there if you have a Gold Pass. It often fills up quickly on busy days, and there were times last year when they didn't even have an employee standing there checking passes.
  2. Now that the season has started up again, it's time to revive this thread. Guest waiting in line for Boo Blasters, referring to a section of wallpaper peeling from the wall: "They had to replace the ride. They couldn't afford to fix the wallpaper."
  3. For those who have ridden Boo Blasters, what's your high score? I somehow managed to score 1590 the first time I rode it yesterday, but didn't come close to that the second time (I think my 2nd score was 938 or somewhere around there).
  4. Another "new" thing I noticed yesterday - there are no longer any vending machines in the Delirium queue. Just a big empty space.
  5. It's actually on Kings Mills Road, not far from KI.
  6. My opening day count: Diamondback - 3 Adventure Express - 1 Beast - 1 Boo Blasters - 2 Carousel - 1 Delirium - 1 Drop Tower - 1 FoF - 1 Monster - 1 Scrambler - 1 Shake Rattle & Roll - 1 Surf Dog - 1 Train - 1 Woodstock - 1 What's in Action Theater now? Two of you claim to have been in there yesterday, but when I went to see what was there, it was closed.
  7. I'm sure there are other price breaks if you order them in larger quantities - 1000 was the largest quantity available directly through their website.
  8. Three things I noticed yesterday: When I rode AE, someone had left a door open on the left side near the bottom of that final tunnel. Nobody seems to have the new red Diamondback souvenir cups (those signs showed them, and they were pictured a few other places around the park as well). All references to Son of Beast have been removed from its entrance.
  9. Just find it interesting that the park is pushing them so much when they're likely not even making that much off them - 13.8 cents a pair, minus whatever it costs them to pay someone to stand there and sell them...
  10. Sorry about that. I should have paid more attention to that thread. I do know it's been answered here before and will look again to find the right thread later
  11. I noticed last night that the 3D glasses for Boo Blasters are made by a company called American Paper Optics, and was curious as to how much the park (or Cedar Fair) was actually making off those things at $1 a pair. After doing a little research, it appears that they may not be making too much off them (unless Sally Rides is footing the bill, which is unlikely). The cost for 1000 pairs of the 3D glasses sold for Boo Blasters is $862 with shipping. The park is selling them at $1 per pair. That means the park would make a whopping $138 off 1000 pairs of glasses. Hardly seems worth their efforts...
  12. The coaster model question has been answered here before: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14507&view=findpost&p=243257
  13. According to Google, 23.7 miles via car or 18.3 miles via bike...
  14. The Columbus Zoo looks like a neat place. I'll have to find time to get up there one of these days, though I rarely even go to the Cincinnati Zoo and I'm only 10 minutes from it.
  15. I'll take Dixie over Gold Star any day...
  16. For those who can't get enough, I found The Banana Splits In Hocus Pocus Park on Youtube as well. While cheesy, it has some really clear shots of classic KI - amazing how much the park has changed over the years... <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/p/B12A30A2278118BC&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/p/B12A30A2278118BC&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/p/B12A30A2278118BC&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="385" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
  17. Even the directions are wrong... That's Kings Mills Road. "Several" generally refers to more than 2 If you turn left onto 42 in Lebanon, you'll be going North, not South. They're leaving out the easiest route - 75 south to Tylersville, then east to Western Row / Kings Island Drive Ohio 741 doesn't go to Kings Island - it ends at the Kings Mills Road / I-71 interchange.
  18. If you're talking about the ride shown in the video after the people eating and a quick shot of the Eiffel Tower, then that ride is Bayern Curve, which can be seen here. Thanks. Upon further viewing, I also see a shot of the Bavarian Beetle in there.
  19. Latest questions and answers http://www.facebook.com/notes/kings-island/55-mailbag-monday-april-12/383901196948 I'm a bit surprised they didn't mention the park's parent swap program in relation to that last question.
  20. Make that four, counting Huckleberry Hound. Knew I was missing one. Thanks! Quick question... Which coaster/ride is shown starting around the 4 minute mark in the first "Old Kings Island" video?
  21. You're welcome If you pay close attention to one of those home movies, you'll notice that KI was at one time inhabited by no less than 3 dogs (Scooby, Hong Kong Phooey and Fleegle (from Banana Splits)).
  22. I'm sure all of these have been posted before (I know one of them has been posted several times), but since opening day is less than a week away, I thought it would be fun to post them again... First off, a nice promo video for The Bat: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>Next up, a three-part home movie of KI from the 1970s: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object><object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object><object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>And last but not least, our favorite classic KI video (well worth posting again): <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>Feel free to add your own favorite classic KI videos to this topic
  23. Since the topic of "things not there" has made me so nostalgic, I thought it would be fun to discuss fond memories of days gone by at KI. I'll have to dig through our family photos when I have time and see if I can find any from our KI trips, but one of my biggest memories was the fun we had with Les Taxis/Antique Cars. My mom's afraid of heights, so this was one of the few things we could all do together. Nothing like spending a few minutes on a cool summer evening winding slowly through (what was then) the tree-lined wooded areas of Coney Mall.
