Little Things You Notice
The tires were still visible when I rode it two weeks ago... And I agree that the screaming competition is half the fun of that ride

CedarPointer's Kings Island Survival Guide!
Park Attire: Ladies, the main park is not the water park. Please do not assume everyone in the main park wants to see you strolling around in your bathing suits. Especially when the bathing suit is a bit too small... Public Affection: Please do not hang all over your significant other while in line for rides. A quick hug or smooch is fine, but smothering each other is disgusting.

Ride count on Diamondback?
I'm up to 91 now thanks to 17 rides yesterday (slow days rock!)

2009 Season Pass Renewal Sale!
I'll have to make a point to get to the park on one of those days to take advantage of the deal.

Ops Mic Entertainment
My vote for best ride op goes to the one at Diamondback who called Son of Beast "the world's largest pile of toothpicks" yesterday. He was also telling people to put their seatbelts on before pulling down on the lapbars, which seemed to confuse several people.

Interesting Things Ride-Ops Do
Tonight as I was getting off Diamondback, one of the ride ops ended the usual "enjoy your day here at Kings Island" with "... home of Son of Beast - the world's largest pile of toothpicks!" Also, while in line for a ride (don't remember which one), one of the ride ops said to some kid "Hey, you. In the orange soccer shirt. Get your butt off our handrail!"

Kings Island: The Soundtrack
A few I heard today: "Washed In The Water" by Needtobreathe "Show Me What I'm Looking For" by Carolina Liar "I Just Called To Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder

Ride count on Diamondback?
I'm up to 74 now, and will likely be above 80 by the end of the day tomorrow.

Riders stranded for hours after Invertigo breaks down at Great America
I'd like to know why it took them so long to get everyone down to begin with. I realize that it's not easy to plan for such a situation, but Kings Island always seems to have a cherry picker laying around Invertigo for maintenance people to inspect the track, so surely Great America has something similar.

kings island August 8, 2009. whats one of ur best days at a theme park?
My best day in terms of most fun was the Saturday of RWW - 18 hours in the park and tons of DB ERT... Most recently though it would have been this past Thursday (the 13th). Despite not getting up there until 5:30, the lines were short (DB wait was less than 30 minutes in the main line when I got there), and I still managed to get in quite a few rides on things. The only bad part of the day was my ride on The Beast. 2-3 gives you a whole new appreciation for that ride...

What would you like changed to KI in the next five years?
I'd love to see a Potbelly Sandwich Works at KI. They've got a great selection of sandwiches and other goodies (it's the only place I've ever seen Stewarts Key Lime soda). Sure, we've got Subway, but Potbelly has "A Wreck" (salami, turkey, ham and roast beef with Swiss cheese...).

AAUgH! I hate Weather! T_T
They shut down rides when they feel that the weather conditions could make the ride unsafe to operate.

when does KI see attendance drop with school starting
A couple of schools in the Cincinnati Public system started back today, but most start in a couple weeks (which is still earlier than I remember them starting when I was in high school, and my high school was always on a different schedule than the rest of the district).

Free Water
The best solution to the small cups of water is to buy a souvenir cup and take that with you. A 46oz souvenir cup refilled with ice water is the same price as a small cup of ice water - free.

The Son of Beast Discussion Thread
Simple. They have one central database for all the attractions, so you just have to slap the ID of that particular attraction onto the end of the URL and you can get the details for it regardless of what site you're on. If you change the URL to kingsdominion.com, you'll get it there as well.

Ohio Trip 2009 July 15-27 + Multi day trip report
Great photos! So sorry you couldn't experience Diamondback though. It's a shame that Photobucket killed the image quality. You may want to look into Flickr instead. I put all my photos there and they don't seem to kill the image quality at all. In addition, Flickr's interface is much nicer than Photobucket's (which seems old and outdated to me). The only downside is you can't show the original sized image with the free account, but that's not a problem for me. There are other restrictions for the free account as well, but nothing major... See http://www.flickr.com/help/limits#28 for full details.

It's a Mid Summer's SCREAM!
Well, I was planning to go, but I realized last night that I had forgotten to submit my registration form, and didn't remember today until a few minutes ago. The only post office around here that's open right now is the Coryville branch (they're open til 3), but I still don't know if I could get it postmarked today even if I did get up there by 3.

SFStL Throws Pricing Integrity To The Wind On July Tuesdays
I never have understood the point in lowering admission prices to match the numbers in their frequency. I know WAKW (93.3) has done $9.33 admission to The Beach before, and I'm sure other stations in this area have done similar things.

Former Hard Rock Park has a new name
I assume they're referring to this ad? I honestly don't see why they're so upset about it. Gags involving the loss of toupees have been around for decades. Nobody's making fun of them for their lack of hair.

"Theme park patrons forced to eat outdoors after food ban"
I have two family members that are on special diets due to food allergies and I HATE having to take food into the park when I want to eat a meal there. At some parks (Cedar Point, Holiday World, and Silver Dollar City for example) I wouldn't have to because these parks have up to date and accurate allergy information available on their website and in the case of Silver Dollar City, knowledgable associates at food service establishments. Kings Island on the other hand has nothing on their web site, associates who tell you to visit guest services, and a Food Allergy binder in Guest Services that has the following on the cover "2006 Season" Information. You can imagine how much confidence this inspires. And yes, I did point this out to the nice associate and supervisor in Guest Services when I first noticed it in May. I also sent an email with a request for allergy information and mentioned the binder to Guest Services in May (got no response). Finally, I decided to check on the binder twice in June - it was unchanged both times (I mentioned it both times) before I finally gave up. I guess Cedar Fair can live without any nickels that I'd have liked to spend on food. Try contacting the county health commissioner (see http://www.co.warren.oh.us/health/board.htm for contact information). I'm sure he can get results, especially since the vice president of the board of health is the one who handles the Mason area...

I forgot all about that site. Thanks for the laugh Back on topic, click the above link, then click "Images" and you will find plenty.

If you had Kings Island all to yourself for a day...
I would arrange a guided tour of most of the areas of the park that the general public doesn't get to see for all of KICentral ("most" meaning that some areas might remain off-limits for security reasons). This would include basements, backstage areas, the lower level of the stations at The Beast and Flight Deck, warehouses, maintenance shops, etc. I love exploring and would love to see what we're missing If there was enough time left at the end of the night, we'd marathon Diamondback until they kicked us out of the park.

KI Should Get This Ride!
Those renderings of a suspended wooden coaster look interesting, but I just don't see how it could work since wood breaks much more easily than steel does, especially under heavy weight. On a related note, I do think we should give their mega whip a try. Looks like fun
