  1. I'd much rather ride Eejanaika at Fuji-Q Highland in Japan - 2:10 ride time. http://rcdb.com/ig3676.htm
  2. Michael Tait put out a couple of albums with a group he formed called Tait. Check out Wikipedia for more details. I was also there yesterday, but only saw Newsboys and Third Day (awesome band - I highly recommend checking them out). While I liked the Newsboys, it just isn't the same without Peter Furler. Third Day, as usual, was awesome. I spent the time during the storm hiding out on the patio behind the funnel cake stand in Rivertown. My sister and I had just gotten back from the water park when it hit. I will be there again tonight and am looking forward to Fireflight and Family Force 5, assuming we make it up there in time (my sister and I are going to a friend's wedding downtown at 3, but are hoping to be at KI by 5 or so.). I'm also looking forward to hearing MercyMe.
  3. You used to be able to buy unlimited drink wristbands from GR for about $10. I'm sure they still give them to certain groups and such, but I assume he means that you can't buy them from GR anymore.
  4. The basic idea of the stairs effect was to make the ride seem bumpy as you flew down the final hill, making it seem as if you were going down stairs like in the scene of The Italian Job. It was fun when it worked, but it didn't work most of the time as I recall.
  5. While in line for Vortex earlier, the lady behind me was telling her friend that Vortex "is the only upside down coaster at Kings Island since they took Son of Beast out". She then added "unless that Fireflight thing or whatever it's called goes upside down.".
  6. Thanks for identifying that bird. I've been wondering what it was all season but never have been able to identify it. I was thinking it was a crane of some sort.
  7. I've been at 49 for nearly 2 weeks, but that will change tomorrow.
  8. Congrats to Darlene on her upcoming milestone ride. I will be getting my 50th tomorrow (and will likely be well above 60 by the end of the weekend).
  9. I got 80% the first time - missed the movie question and didn't read all the answers for the Son of Beast question before choosing. For the record, I've never even heard of that particular movie.
  10. Last I checked, all the speakers had been completely removed from the cars. I do remember the stair effect. That was quite fun.
  11. Monster, but generally only if the ride ops give me a good spin first. Other than that, the flat rides at KI generally don't make me dizzy.
  12. Problems I see: No way to update the deck after choosing which park to filter things by The card for KI's Invertigo shows the one at California's Great Adventure The card for KI's Flight of Fear has an outdated photo (that ride hasn't had fog or over-the-shoulder restraints in years) Some of the cards have incomplete information on them (the one for Wild Beast at Canada's Wonderland lists the velocity at 0mph) No cards for Congo Falls, Fairly Odd Coaster, Viking Fury or White Water Canyon at KI even though cards exist for similar rides at other parks Other suggestions: Double-clicking a card to view it seems a bit odd. Any way this can be changed to single click (eg clicking on a card will allow us to view it) Change the functionality so we can click something on the card itself to close or flip it (rather than having to click something next to or above/below the card)
  13. I would love to see a whip at Coney or even at KI. Considering that the kiddie one at KI is a huge hit, I'm sure a full-sized one would also be a huge hit.
  14. I will be there all three days as well.
  15. I don't understand how they can enforce the "pass must be in the name of the person participating" rule. Kings Island passes don't have names on them. What's to stop someone from giving their pass to a friend?
  16. If all goes as planned, I will be there tomorrow night. I have to work until 4:45, but will be heading to Coney when I get off. Looking forward to all the classic rides and the fireworks.
  17. Beating that record would be tough to do. I believe Disney holds that record with the 120-foot high Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach...
  18. The entire kids' area was known as HB until 2001, when an expansion took place. The new section was known as Nick Central, and included a re-themed log flume, Reptar, and a few other things. After the 2005 season, HB and Nick Central were combined into Nick Universe and all HB themeing was changed to Nick.
  19. I'm not sure I can choose from anything on this list, as all of them either currently live up to the hype or did when they first opened (or I first rode them). The Crypt - I didn't like it much when it was TRTR mainly because they left you hanging facing the floor for several seconds. Beast, Vortex, Racer, DB - All live up to the hype in my opinion SOB - was one of my favorite rides when it had the loop and the heavier cars, despite being quite rough FOF - Still a lot of fun, though I wish they'd keep the lights off... BLSC - A fun ride when it debuted as IJST. Still fun, but not as much fun as it was with the in-car audio and the splashdown at the end Firehawk - Was worth the several hours I waited for it when it first opened. Would be better if KI ride ops could learn how to dispatch trains faster (eg dispatch one before the other one hits the final brakes outside the station) Delirium - still one of my favorite rides Drop Tower - also one of my favorite rides Invertigo - also a favorite though not a must-ride
  20. To get one of those, all you have to do: Turn right out of KI's parking lot Go about a mile or so up the road until it dead-ends. Turn left and cross over I-71. Turn right at The Beach's sign Turn right again and follow the road into the park Sorry... Couldn't resist (those Meijer ads are addicting...)
  21. That big grassy area is quite popular among sunbathers and those looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy the weather. I actually wish there were more grass in BB than there currently is. The older slides aren't likely going anywhere. There's a reason they've survived for 20 years - they're popular and they aren't a hassle to maintain.
  22. The original Son of Beast (with the loop and original cars) was one of my favorite rides. I rode it last month for the first time since the loop was removed, and decided that was enough for me. The constant shaking of the lighter cars makes the ride a lot less enjoyable for me, and somewhat more painful.
  23. Where exactly would they expand the waterpark? There's not a whole lot of room left in that part of the park unless they start expanding into the parking lot.
  24. I'll have to try 7-1 next time I'm there.
  25. I agree with mark on this one. I find 5-1 to be much smoother (and therefore more enjoyable) than other seats on Vortex, though the only other seat I've ridden frequently was 1-1.
