  1. The strangest/most disgusting thing I've ever seen was several years ago: a large woman walking through the park in ultra-short cotton shorts that had "Bootylicious" (complete with "lip print") plastered across the backside.
  2. Trying to get back on topic here, no I don't think the park needs another wooden coaster. The Beast is still drawing large crowds 33 years, Racer is still quite popular, and so is Woodstock. However, if done properly, another wooden coaster certainly couldn't hurt the park. Son of Beast was a lot of fun in its original form, but has been a big hassle for the park for much of its existence.
  3. And there are many, many reasons for that: Universal is a small part of a huge media conglomerate. The resort makes up only a small portion of the company's total profits. You pay a lot more to visit Universal than you do to visit KI. As a result, guests expect more (just as you would expect more from a Maserati than you would from a Chevy). Universal sees much bigger crowds than KI does. As such, they need to find ways to get large groups of guests on and off their rides as quickly as possible. Having lockers which are free for a certain period of time encourages guests to leave their stuff in lockers instead of carrying it onto rides.
  4. I also hope it wouldn't be that bad with the current CF CEO. The July 4th power outage at KI a couple years ago showed what happens with Kinzel at the realm - continue letting guests into the park as if nothing is wrong, then refuse to issue refunds when they complain.
  5. You're welcome. Glad it worked this time.
  6. Unfortunately, you're pretty much out of luck in that area. The organization that runs the local bus service is co-funded by the city of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, so service outside of Hamilton County is all but non-existent (unless you live in Kentucky, where they have their own bus service). The only bus you could take is the 71 Kings Island Job Connection, which stops at the southeast corner of Fields-Ertel and Mason-Montgomery (just north of the Art Institute on the other side of the street) twice a day (7:29am and 8:23am) Monday-Friday. As it has no return service to that area, you're pretty much out of luck getting back. I also found reference to a "Warren County Transit Service", but can't find much more info about them. You can call (513) 932-6301 for more info. There may be a way you can get to KI from the school via that service.
  7. There should be a fairly long number on the back of the pass right under the bar code. That's the one you want to enter on the site. The receipt you got is not a glitch - you can rack up rewards even if your pass isn't registered. When you do register your pass, any rewards you've racked up will become available to you.
  8. It does seem to be based on how much you purchase. I visited the park last week and didn't buy anything. It counted the visit, but I didn't get any additional rewards. I doubt that the park will ever tell us the exact formula they use. My point was that buying something doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a new reward.
  9. How do you know that the purchase has not registered on your account? Buying something does not automatically mean you get additional rewards.
  10. KI did have a coat check and would even hold your purchases for you when the park first opened. It would be rather difficult to do today due to the much larger crowds the park attracts (not to mention the amount of space needed to handle such operations).
  11. Thanks for the clarification Terpy. It is odd to see anything built across state lines, though they did it with an elementary school near Oxford (which apparently has also caused problems for the school district - I found an article from 1989 saying that Ohio was threatening to stop subsidizing the district because their high school is in Indiana).
  12. The only thing to keep in mind with the shuttle service is that it stops at the passenger drop-off area out by the KI sign, so you'll still have a bit of a hike from there to the front gate. If that's not a big deal, then that hotel is your best bet as it's the closest to KI (excluding Great Wolf Lodge).
  13. Because Carowinds' official address is in Charlotte, NC, I would imagine that the law would only apply if it were passed in North Carolina. It depends on which state takes responsibility for inspecting/certifying the rides though.

I'd like to see that house as well. I'd probably pick one of those tram cars out behind Son of Beast. Lots of room to stretch out and you're protected from the elements a bit.
  15. In 2005, the height requirement for what was then Beastie (now Woodstock Express) was raised from 36" to its current 40". I wonder if the changes you mentioned happened the same year.
  16. Call Lost and Found tomorrow. I had a similar thing happen to me last year and my bag turned up at Lost and Found the next day. Fortunately I only lost a couple bucks in cash that I had in my wallet (making me think that the thieves were kids/teens looking for a quick buck), but it was definitely not a fun night.
  17. There is no way to prevent sharing of free drinks unless the park wants to force guests to consume the drink at the stand where it is purchased, where employees can make sure that the guest with the wristband is the only one drinking it. What's different between buying a drink for another family member and getting a free drink for another family member?
  18. I think I've found the source of the 2015 rumor. The annotation at the beginning was apparently added later after lots of people commented stating what it actually was...
  19. One thing I don't understand is why they were throwing around the idea of a 50-year lease. Why on earth would anyone want to lease something for 50 years, especially when there's no guarantee you'll be able to profit from it?

I don't think it will be all that useful even if they do add that feature, as guests will likely be reporting how long they waited for the ride, and there's no guarantee that the time they waited for the ride is the same as the current wait time. Riding FoF early in the day once, I waited 20 minutes for it, but the line was easily an hour by the time I got off. Even if we relied on the employees to report the time, it wouldn't help as the "estimated wait time" signs on the rides that have them aren't usually accurate for most of the rides, especially those that don't have a greeter (BLSC and Beast for example).
  21. Some employees do enforce the "guys must have a shirt on" rule apparently. Earlier this month while at KI, an area manager who was walking through Rivertown noticed a guy walking around with his shirt draped around his shoulders. The manager stopped and made the guy put his shirt on.

WCPO (Channel 9) mentioned it on the noon news today.
  23. The fair board is now reporting that a couple of national park operators may be interested... http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20120618/NEWS01/306180061/Mayor-s-office-offering-help-new-theme-park-deal
  24. And Disney, and Holiday World, and Kennywood, and Alton Towers, and Thorpe Park, and Seaworld, and and and! That would be one heck of a Platinum Pass! Don't forget Europa Park!
  25. That is indeed a KI billboard. I work at Newport on the Levee, so I'm in that area quite a bit.
