  1. From what I understand, they turn people away at the tolls, not at the admissions area. I don't know how they determine when they can let more guests in either.
  2. Maybe aliens are responsible for that guy's hair as well...
  3. Impressive resumes for all of them. Sounds like they'll be great additions!
  4. Story has now been moved to the correct section on Screamscape, but it still says "Camden Park". The source of the confusion here could be that the park is located near Camden, NJ (Clementon is a suburb of Camden apparently).
  5. It's possible that they were sight-seeing tours, as both Blue Ash Airport and the Lebanon/Warren County Regional airport are fairly close to KI. The Geico plane is a common sight around here. I see it flying around downtown Cincinnati all the time when the Reds are in town.
  6. I realize that, but with a different person in charge of things now, the past doesn't necessarily indicate what will happen in the future.
  7. I'd like to see an Action Zone revamp, which includes having the park finally make a decision about Son of Beast. Three of the rides in AZ will be celebrating major anniversaries in 2013 - Congo Falls (25 years), Flight Deck (20 years) and Delirium (10 years), so it's time to give that area some much-needed attention. They could probably fit a good wild mouse coaster in where Thunder Alley is now, but taking out a pay-to-play attraction for one that's free just doesn't seem like something the park would do, no matter how little they're making from it.
  8. The sad thing is it took me a bit to realize that he had his facts mixed up. I sat there wondering why anyone would call in a bomb threat at Camden Park - especially when most people in New Jersey have probably never even heard of the place. Then I realized it mentioned Splash World. Having been to Camden Park, I know for a fact that the only thing they have that even resembles a water park is a log flume...
  9. Once again it appears that Lance doesn't bother thinking about things before he posts them. If you read the article he linked to, it was actually at a place called "Clementon Park". The story as he posted it doesn't even make sense, as there is no place called "Splash World" at Camden Park. Article he linked to: http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=8713749
  10. That's the standard "parking" pattern when they close the ride down - one train halfway up the hill, one in the station and one on the back brakes outside the station. It's likely done that way because it's the only way they can unload the final train of riders without having to wait for an empty train to cycle all the way through.
  11. If they meet capacity, they temporarily stop allowing additional guests into the park, until management determines that enough people have left to allow more in. It doesn't happen very often, but it has happened in the past, particularly when Paramount did the "Nights of Fire" promotions on the 4th of July weekend.
  12. Morgan RV Resorts bought the park from the family that owned it several years ago, and has done little to keep the park up to what it apparently once was. There was a big employee protest last year (see this story for more), and reviews of the park have been anything but positive (see the park's listing on TripAdvisor and/or the recent trip report that I linked to in my first post).
  13. Interesting way to draw attention to the park's features and get fans involved, especially considering the negative publicity the park has received the past few years. Unfortunately, a recent trip report from the park indicates that things haven't gotten any better...
  14. Google is your friend... http://www.ohioslargestplayground.com/sports-participant-planner/upcoming-events/ki-baseball/
  15. Last night, one of The Beast ride ops was laughing that she'd just told a train full of riders that the red train is the fastest train they have.
  16. I can't believe she struggled with that. That's by far one of the easier German words to pronounce (at least compared to words like "Streichholzschächtelchen", which means "small box of matches").
  17. I was also part of that group last year. Lots of fun indeed!
  18. The strangest/most disgusting thing I've ever seen was several years ago: a large woman walking through the park in ultra-short cotton shorts that had "Bootylicious" (complete with "lip print") plastered across the backside.
  19. Trying to get back on topic here, no I don't think the park needs another wooden coaster. The Beast is still drawing large crowds 33 years, Racer is still quite popular, and so is Woodstock. However, if done properly, another wooden coaster certainly couldn't hurt the park. Son of Beast was a lot of fun in its original form, but has been a big hassle for the park for much of its existence.
  20. And there are many, many reasons for that: Universal is a small part of a huge media conglomerate. The resort makes up only a small portion of the company's total profits. You pay a lot more to visit Universal than you do to visit KI. As a result, guests expect more (just as you would expect more from a Maserati than you would from a Chevy). Universal sees much bigger crowds than KI does. As such, they need to find ways to get large groups of guests on and off their rides as quickly as possible. Having lockers which are free for a certain period of time encourages guests to leave their stuff in lockers instead of carrying it onto rides.
  21. I also hope it wouldn't be that bad with the current CF CEO. The July 4th power outage at KI a couple years ago showed what happens with Kinzel at the realm - continue letting guests into the park as if nothing is wrong, then refuse to issue refunds when they complain.
  22. You're welcome. Glad it worked this time.
  23. Unfortunately, you're pretty much out of luck in that area. The organization that runs the local bus service is co-funded by the city of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, so service outside of Hamilton County is all but non-existent (unless you live in Kentucky, where they have their own bus service). The only bus you could take is the 71 Kings Island Job Connection, which stops at the southeast corner of Fields-Ertel and Mason-Montgomery (just north of the Art Institute on the other side of the street) twice a day (7:29am and 8:23am) Monday-Friday. As it has no return service to that area, you're pretty much out of luck getting back. I also found reference to a "Warren County Transit Service", but can't find much more info about them. You can call (513) 932-6301 for more info. There may be a way you can get to KI from the school via that service.
  24. There should be a fairly long number on the back of the pass right under the bar code. That's the one you want to enter on the site. The receipt you got is not a glitch - you can rack up rewards even if your pass isn't registered. When you do register your pass, any rewards you've racked up will become available to you.
  25. It does seem to be based on how much you purchase. I visited the park last week and didn't buy anything. It counted the visit, but I didn't get any additional rewards. I doubt that the park will ever tell us the exact formula they use. My point was that buying something doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a new reward.
