  1. My favorite parts were the emphasis of plastic and the ultrasonic dishwasher.
  2. Fair Board approves 60-day lease extension http://www.wdrb.com/story/22076642/fair-board-approves-60-day-lease-extension-for-kentucky-kingdom-developers
  3. Thanks for pointing that out. Hard to believe DA will be entering its 3rd season now. For some reason I thought it opened last year.
  4. I just noticed that you can now get "street view" of KI on Google The images are from August of 2011, so DA is missing and a few other things are out of date, but it's still fun exploring the park during the offseason.
  5. Done and done, thanks for the suggestion. Looks awesome. Thanks!
  6. I don't know that I've ever seen The Partridge Family, though I'm a big fan of the group that the show was based on (The Cowsills).
  7. Found this on YouTube earlier It's amazing how much of the "future" never came about!
  8. The Crypt in its final years. Runners up: Boring: Woodstock's Whirlybirds (at least when you're by yourself - if you have a kid with you it might be more exciting) XTreme Skyflier (initial drop is fun, but I didn't think it was worth paying for) Dumb: Ghoster Coaster (exciting for the kiddies, but rather painful for the adults - especially those who are tall and/or male...)
  9. Now? It depends on the situation. Possibly Diamondback or a night ride on The Beast when there's a "new moon". Other than that, probably nothing. However, I have "been there, done that" on two different occasions. First time: The year Flight of Fear opened. The line extended all the way into Coney Mall but my dad and I didn't believe the signs. Then we got inside the building and realized they weren't joking... Second time: The day Firehawk opened. Worth the wait for a "first rider" shirt and riding my first "flying" coaster the day it opened at KI. It's highly unlikely I would ever wait that long for Firehawk again.
  10. A couple of things I just noticed after switching back to the lighter theme (the darker one grew on me so I started using that more): 1. On the lighter theme, can you shrink the logo a bit so that it fits within the lighter blue area? It looks weird expanding across two sections like that. 2. Can we get the logo on the darker theme as well?
  11. My favorite saratoga chips are the ones from Riverwalk Sports Cafe in Newport (hole-in-the-wall sports bar across from the Levee on 3rd Street with surprisingly good food for such a place).
  12. The new seats over the visitor's bullpen are part of a new bar they put over there (hence the Budweiser logo). They way the team spun it to the media was that they always saw fans hanging out over there, so why not give them more reason to do so (translation: find a way to profit from areas where fans like to hang out). From the "A to Z guide": More info on what all is new for 2013: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130328&content_id=43458394&vkey=pr_cin&c_id=cin Also, when did they start playing Connie Smith's "Cincinnati, Ohio" at the ballpark? Prior to the game on April 3rd, the last game I went to at GABP was in August of 2011, but I don't remember them playing it then.
  13. I'll go with large because the last medium I bought is a bit tight, and I don't mind if it runs a little big.
  14. We were all wondering what was in those shipping containers that KI was posting pictures of. This seems to be the answer. http://cincinnati.com/blogs/icymi/2013/04/09/kings-islands-dinosaurs-alive-adding-worlds-largest-animatronic-dinosaur/
  15. I had a random dream about KI the other night. I don't remember much about it, except that Adventure Express had new trains with cars resembling ATVs (sort of like the "motorcycle coasters" that exist, but the entire car looked like the seat from an ATV, complete with handle bars).
  16. I wish I could get a 230% raise every year!
  17. It still amazes me that their pass system is such a mess 5+ years after they purchased Paramount Parks. The easiest way to solve 90% of the problems would be to store all the passholder info in a single central database that can be accessed from any park, regardless of the pass type or location purchased. That would allow every park to look up any CF passholder and verify their status. I'm beginning to wonder if they store the regular/gold pass info separately from platinum pass info.
  18. When you consider that Frankfort is a bit of a hike from both Louisville (about an hour) and Lexington (45 minutes), is it any surprise that nobody showed up for the hearing?
  19. My sister got stuck cleaning at the funnel cake stand on I-Street one night and I got stuck waiting on her. Imagine sitting around bored out of your mind for three hours when you're already exhausted from your own shift at the park. That was not a fun time for either of us.
  20. My sister worked in food for several years, though I believe it was all under Paramount. It's really not much different than rides in general - you'll be on your feet all day, things can get hectic at times, you may be stuck out in the heat for a few hours (if you're placed on carts), etc. From what I understand though it's a lot of fun as well, and if you're at a stand you'll have the advantage of not having to close due to weather. You'll also be responsible for helping to clean tables and areas around your stand, and cleaning the stand at the end of the night (if you get put on the evening shift), which means you could be there fairly late, especially if you're on I-Street as those stands are some of the last to close.
  21. My least favorite interview question is the whole "tell us about a situation at your previous job when you were asked to do something that you didn't want to do" thing. The only advice I can give is to be open and be yourself. Don't try to answer questions based on what you think they want to hear. They're not trying to "nail" you or trick you into responding a certain way. Also keep in mind that the people doing the interviews have to ask the same questions hundreds of times a day, and probably don't enjoy asking them any more than you enjoy answering them.
  22. Although I'm not a doctor, I honestly don't see how being stuck upside down for 10-15 minutes, as painful and uncomfortable as that would be, could cause spinal cord injuries. It sounds like Kennywood did everything "right" in this situation - getting riders off as quickly as possible, having riders checked out by medical personnel and closing the ride until it was clear that the problem had been fixed. This also brings up the question of whether the park is responsible if the injury is not reported prior to the individual leaving the park. I almost want to say they wouldn't be responsible after the person left, but, as in this case, some injuries may not be immediately noticeable.
  23. It's sad that not stating the obvious is a crime now. Of course they won't be able to get off if the ride stops. What did he think would happen?
  24. The tunnel was indeed added when the ride was renamed Beastie.
