i was unaware that FOF was not designed to breakless from the midcourse on... I was under the assumption that since the park had removed them that one season it was safe... Isnt the primary purpose of that break to create a block and prevent a launched train to collide with one parked outside of the unload area ? I think it is Could you imagine if The Vortex midcourse block break was turned off... that would be one hell of a ride

Best/Worst Time of Year to go to WDW?
Erosarrow05 replied to KIfan73's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The best times to go to Orlando are one of two times. The last week in April and first week in may are the first weeks of "slow" - or the time immediately following spring break. Hotel rates are drastically lower yet water parks and virtually if not all rides are open. The other time is the 3rd and 4th weeks in september, when school goes back in session... While it is florida and Orlando is a worldwide destination - those times are not a zoo... I had a great time at Universal and WDW - absolutely spectacular 7 days and i never waited in a line longer than 25 minutes... -
Dick Kinzel himself could post on this message board and he'd be bombarded with "WHERES YOUR PROOF" "WHERE ARE PICTURES"... To be honest - it gets old - actually - beyond old... Thats kind of what makes the message board fun isnt it??? Am I the only one who thinks its rather amusing how serious some people take this board?

thats becuase you have seen it a million times

Must have not been that much trouble as they have spent the time and money to do what they feel will make the ride enjoyable.... Sounds like CF has a vested interest in the future of SoB, as they should...

Hmmm.... here goes... As a former ride op at PKI and CP I cant tell you how many times people dont read the information on ride saftey signs at the start of the line. Clearly you should have not been riding this ride or any other thrill ride. I can think of about 40 other positions i could get stuck in on a thrill ride that would be way more uncomfortable than lying on your back not moving. The restraints on Firehawk are snug but by no means take your breath away. I also dont understand what your "OCD" has to do with anything. Furthermore you are responsible for your own health, and being a member of this illustrious enthusiest community you should know the risks of riding. You know there is always a possibility you will get stuck or delayed or evacuated off a ride. It really chaps my @ss when i see on the news some person who has become injured, or died on an amusement ride because they couldnt take 2 minutes to read the health and saftey guides posted for your saftey.... I just had my appendix out tuesday and you dont see me in line for Firehawk. Maybe I sound like a jerk, but thats okay, your situation could have ended up far more serious and after being construed in the media, ultimately it becomes the parks fault. It just blows my mind people will throw themselves in to a dangerous situation knowing full well they have a preexisting condition and shouldnt ride... hmmm.... im going to stop now becuase i would hate to get in trouble... but thats my two cents

Maybe the reason the other CF parks don't operate shuttles is because well - they dont own any. If shuttle service is going to give a better guest experience, i can imagine youll see them return. Cedar Point, by the way has several shuttles, the illustrious "Causeway Cruiser" for the employees which i never ever road, even on restricted parking days - and the resort shuttles. Maybe they want you to walk your fat behind to the front gate so youll be hungry and more opt to buy some of that 85.00 pizza or a 125.00 elephant ear.

Dick Kinzel interview

can someone point me to some documentation stating where the nick licensing may be used? -
I think there were only 3 trains purchased for X-flight... but in any case, I agree, its fun - but certainly not worth hours upon hours of standing in line... as a side note... i enjoy how the neon green is already coming back on the track in the station ... grey, deep red and neon green are beautiful...

what you are all so casually forgetting is: the walk from wherever you are in the park to your car, then leaving the park to find a place to eat, going in ordering your food and waiting for it to be prepared, eating, going back to the park and finding a parking space which will naturally be farther than your previous one... All in all the time it takes to leave and come back to save a few bucks probably isnt worth it. You pay for the convienience to eat in the park and clearly people pay to not have to leave...

I found the experience to be oddly similar the one it gave at geauga lake
-
I know this has been answered before somewhere but what color is the ride being painted? Furthermore - why is the primer such an odd color?

Im excited to see the beach get some new attractions - even if they are gently used. The beach offers a great day away from the island at a great price. Sometimes I feel like the beach gets looked over a little too often, when it really does have a great variety of rides. Oh - and my source for that information is me - February 23, 2007

From the DDN Kings Island to Mason: You promised to not charge ticket tax By Denise G. Callahan Staff Writer Tuesday, February 13, 2007 Mason city officials promised they would never tax tickets sold to the Kings Island amusement park. Or did they? The Mason City Council finance committee is considering starting to charge an admissions tax on tickets sold at Kings Island and also at the nearby The Beach Waterpark. They're looking for a way to reduce the amount of income tax paid by Mason residents who work in other cities. Mason charges a 1 percent income tax and residents who work elsewhere already receive a 50 percent tax credit, but council members want to eliminate the Mason income tax for residents who pay income taxes where they work. Making these residents happy will cost the city government $2.1 million a year, which Mason can afford without cutting services, said Vice Mayor Tom Grossmann. At the same time, some city council members want to tax amusement park visitors, though Grossmann insists that the proposals are separate. Regardless, talk of an admissions tax has upset Kings Island's executives, who believe they have an agreement with Mason City Council from a decade ago, when the city annexed the amusement park from Deerfield Twp. They claim to have a 1997 letter from then-City Manager Scot Lahrmer in which he pledged the city would not start an admissions tax. And former city council members who attended the council's meeting Monday night also said they informally promised to not impose an admissions tax. Trouble is, the city council never voted on such an agreement. "We were assured we would not be asked to replace that revenue," said Kings Island Vice President and General Manager Greg Scheid "$2 million to us is a lot of money. We will fight it as hard as we have to." Scheid said that a University of Cincinnati study showed that a 6 percent admissions tax at Kings Island, which attracts more than three million visitors a year, would negatively impact other businesses in the region such as hotels and restaurants by as much as 14 percent because fewer tourists would visit. Councilman Tony Bradburn asked Scheid if any other 12 Cedar Fair amusement parks pay an admissions tax and Scheid said Cedar Point pays one in the city of Sandusky in northwest Ohio. "Do you know there are 67 communities in the state of Ohio that have admissions taxes," Bradburn asked. "What makes you so special?" Scheid mentioned the promise made by former Mason officials, to which Blackburn countered: "I didn't promise you anything. And I don't think there is any council that can make that promise legally binding." Scheid said legally Bradburn was correct, but the city has a moral obligation to keep its word. Mayor Char Pelfrey said Kings Island and executives from The Beach would be included in discussions regarding the admissions tax proposal. City council members on Monday night planned to pass an emergency ordinance to put the income tax reduction issue on the May primary election ballot. However, a resident pointed out that, according to the city charter, the Mason City Council would have had to pass the ordinance 90 days prior to the election. After a little scrambling and no admission that the resident was right, Grossmann amended his motion to change the election date to November. His amendment passed, but the city council rejected the motion to place the issue on the ballot failed on first reading so city council members will discuss it again at a later meeting.

Interpreter - has hypersonic been dismantled? i missed that....
-
interpreter - how are you sure of this? two words... Conditional Rehire... if you did not recieve your rehire letter - you should call HR so they can set up a rehire interview with your department if your rehire status so deems. Its worth investigating if you are interested... of course if you were fired - you might as well kiss it goodbye...
-
that was certainly called for...

Thanks Avatar I was going to say the same thing - well said!!! Unless I had something to hide, i wouldnt be 'mortified' if my parents called my employer. My parents have helped me on several occasions with previous employment issues (directly and indirectly), and i have appreciated it.

You'll also note that "Paramount's Kings Island is an equal opportunity employer" and that PKI has referenced itself as Kings Island before in newspaper articles
-
Isnt predicting that Cedar Fair would remove the word Paramount from the parks' name kind of like predicting that on June 3 the sun will rise? Not exactly like it was some prolific revalation
-
Im sorry, how many surveys did Cedar Fair ask you to participate in? Paramount Parks were obviously interested in what the GP thought would be good attractions at their park. So when you fill out a survey and see changes in the park that you noted on the survey, or checked "i would like to see that ride at pki" etc... then that is what makes the park feel like it is 'yours'. As for Winterfest, I was watching all the videos I took this past winter today, and it certainly made me sad that it was not going to be returning
-
I know that I for one am disappointed. Im glad I went so many times last year. In spite of what some people said, it was really beautiful and I had more fun then than I did in the summer.
-
if paramount would have cancelled it - it would just be another terrible act againt our beloved pki - but since it was a CF decision, it will be heralded as a great move.
