  1. It grabs me like this... I have been at the beach multiple days this year when there have been (what i would say) less than 200 people there. I enjoy my season pass to the Beach and go regularly... Should I interpret that as the park owners are going to sell because of a few days with low numbers? For all you know, 200 people for what ever saturday you claim to have seen around 200 (becuase of course none of us are privvy to actual attendance) or less in the park, might have been close to what the attendance predictions were... Again, we just dont know ... I would expect that business kicks up in July ...
  2. Interpreter, I think you will agree your statement is totally objective. In my opinion anyone trying to judge what GL's attendance is like, might be naive - and heres why... The footprint has shrunk at least 80 percent, so who knows what a "good capacity" day is? Admittedly Cedar Point is have a slow summer courtesy of the economy... Keeping the economy in mind, did Cedar Fair plan on having a slow start to the summer at GL... For all we know they could be right on task, or they could not, but who knows...
  3. While i think it only pertains to The Beach and Kings Island, I would agree that it should encompass anything where an "admission" fee is charged. Movie Theaters, Night Clubs etc...
  4. ...and no one would ever know if he was disqualified, so its almost a moot point. Could you imagine the amount of pure stupidity the contest administrator would need to say "mrpostman, YOU WON, but youre disqualified" ....
  5. and it was down for mechanical reasons... thank goodness it wasnt for supernatural reasons...
  6. It seems like the weather policy is a major bone of contention on this website. The policy apparently has changed under the new owndership and you hear different reports from different people. I would call Kings Island at 800-288-0808 and speak to guest relations just to get it from the horses mouth. They are very familiar with park policies and procedures regarding inclement weather.
  7. The Beach Waterpark is closed to the general public on June 1st for a park sell out
  8. he said "holds you up" meaning to slow down i believe... and that it does...
  9. The lowering of the gate price only shows that Six Flags is acknowledging the slowing economy and rising fuel costs. In my opinion, this can only be spun positively. A family of four can now save essentially an entire admission with this price reduction (if they purchase online up to 60 dollars)... I am curious to see if any of the Cedar Fair properties lower gate prices at all. With all that 'integrity' they pour into the gate price i doubt we will be seeing that anytime soon, but one can hope. Although I suppose this is the same integrity that "had" to raise food prices by a nickel to cover rising food costs... Could you ever see Denny Crane, er, Dick Kinzel at the coin star machine at Kroger cashing in all his nickels???? (That just paints a funny picture in my head lol)
  10. Woofer, perhaps you could point me towards some literature that would attest to the CBS executives and their advisors naiveity when it came to the value of their parks. Because again, Im not buying into it...
  11. They paid top dollar to be kind? (lol) "No one" is a fairly broad sweeping term, CBS knew, maybe not a large number of individuals but to think otherwise would be naive. To this day I don't believe there has ever been any information released regarding bidders/bids for the Paramount Parks. I've never read anything about CBS being shocked the parks went for that selling price. Im not trying to be rude, but again, I just cannot believe CBS didn't have a very accurate selling price for a company that is in an extremely slow growth market.
  12. so you mean to tell me that Viacom, with all their resources and advisors, did not know how much the parks were worth and could potentially go for? I find that beyond hard to believe, especially in corporate america, and even more so with the media juggernaut Viacom.
  13. ...and here i was thinking CBS landed the parks because they were deemed a "slow growth" operation. and... if Viacom wanted no part of the domestic theme park business as you claim, why then would Viacom not approve of the CBS sale of parks they no longer desired a part of Viacom portfolio
  14. How could they? They were paying you.
  15. it would be a shame if they couldnt keep the 300% mark up on the food items, heaven forbid it went down to 295%....
  16. Ricky Martin does not particularly make me think Cedar Fair, perhaps tacky though. True, the genre is different but there are plenty of other instrumental selections that would fit in with the international street "theme". I personally do not care for the selections that are played currently on IS... Can we have some phillip glass please?
  17. so essentially this is the same news that screamscape posted a few months ago??? I also did the STE when i was in LAS about 6 years ago... Some of the effects were certainly, especially at the time of conception, amazing.
  18. funny you should say that... I happen to have an original sign from tomb raider that states "the wait from this point is"...
  19. the florence union area is in need of a new theater ... the showcase cinemeas / florence cinemas are rather dated. I hate having to drive all the way to the levee...
  20. Cormaster... Please dont ever feel like you owe any person on this website an explaination... You are a paying customer just like the rest of them and moreover you are entitled to your opinions. Just remember all the people that are pointing out how rude you are must be enjoying the gorgeous view from the glass house they are living in.
