  1. His name is Robbie and he and his caregiver are exceptionally sweet people and always wait patiently for Robbie's turn to ride. I can relate though, it can be somewhat frightening at first glance to see him riding, but whats more disenchanting is having other guests give... "the look"...
  2. Chaos is such a fun ride - at least for me ... The only downside is obviously the incidents other parks have had with that ride, and to me, the extremely slow load and unload time...
  3. as nice as that sounds... Wouldn't it be possible for this person to use another computer (or have used another computer to make the original post with a different IP address, ie a school computer, the library etc...) and to create another username? In the original post he admittedly said it was an anonymous screen name... Just asking
  4. Bitter, party of one, your table is now available ... Sounds like the PR lady which you speak of is a class act. It takes a certain amount of humility to be able to stay in a position knowing you are in essence 'getting the can' at a quickly approaching date. I guess its fair to say different people have different management styles and techniques and change is inevitable over time.
  5. Or they could just add the little warning to the Rider Information board posted at the entrance... Similar to what was posted at TRTR, and of course all the other rides in the country that utilize strobe effect lighting... In all my years of indentured servitude on Beast we never had a seizure... I doubt there are many photosensitive epileptics that would purposefully sit in front of a strobe light ... http://www.epilepsyfoundation.org/about/photosensitivity/
  6. you know... if you really do like send in the clowns I highly suggest you go to you tube and search for "Santa Clara Vanguard Send in the Clowns" however prior to listening, you must turn your speakers up to the setting marked "max" and then take 2 steps away from the computer eh... heres a link - there are a 'few' recordings of it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5rwz_Ga_gI
  7. remember when it used to be fun to speculate about what fun new ride was coming to a park... without getting "proof attacked"...??? *sings* "those were the days...."
  8. Monroe... You're totally on the right track... My chemotherapy, aside from ravaging my body, dramatically effects my blood counts ... (shocker right?) In any event, I too used to be prone to the brown out on IJ's helix, however, one of the millions of pills I take to combat the negative effects of the chemo, is ferrous sulfate (iron) and this helps boost my hemoglobin (which carries oxygen through your blood). I have found that with the added iron and increased hbg levels, my dizziness / brown out have dramatically decreased almost to the point of never happening... (to put things in perspective, I would almost pass out going from a sitting to standing position) Just some food for thought... Iron supplements are easy enough to come by...
  9. 1. I think my four years of servitude on Beast make me qualified... I can vouch for AZ Kinda Guy, not that anyone should have too
  10. amen to that! ... if only everyone felt that way...
  11. i have found a polite "no thank you" seems to be rather effective...
  12. Unless I missed it at some point, you've never alluded to what your identity is... So you could technically go on Jeopardy and do worse than some of the SNL impersonators and no one would be the wiser... Unless you are Sean Connery...
  13. But just in case... you might want to call 800-288-0808 to get it straight from the horses mouth
  14. Old school marching band is certainly fun to watch sometimes... I tried to make the adjustment from div 1 corps to college band but alas, schedules conflict...
  15. I'm really curious what parks instigated that rule, terribly hard to believe. Unfortunately I don't see "the interpreter" coming off any details so... heres to the imagination...
  16. you make a very valid point... especially about unpredictable situations... you never know what could happen...
  17. I wonder for every dissatisfied patron how many satisfied patrons exist. I cant help but thinking there could have been better ways, aside from 'blocking a 12-14 year old boy" three times and subsequently become disgruntled afterwards, to handle this. If it was a big issue to me, which it would not have been, you could have said to the young man, there is a sign out front that says 'line jumping is not permitted'. And if he stayed, you could have informed the people behind you that you were going to notify the greeter at the entrance of the ride. I can't say I would have felt obligated, or safe for that matter 'blocking another guest' or essentially taking the enforcement of rules into my hands. Maybe that comes down to one of those "What would you do" questions... I just don't see the problem to the degree that certain others do. To me, this is one of those complaints that comes up every now and again, is discussed and then fizzles off when the next new thing to complain about rolls around... Like smoking, inconsistent height measuring, food quality, price of admission, ride additions etc. etc... I have to agree with whomever said these "problems" are everywhere, because its true, and certainly not limited to amusement parks. My personal opinion is that line jumping happens to be the band wagon everyone is jumping on at this point. The only other thing I find myself asking is... If it is such a problem, and 'word is out', why hasn't local media made it headline news... (and we know the rain is breaking news in Cincinnati, so line jumping would be front page headlines for weeks I'm sure...) Or at least, why hasn't a park spokesperson made a little post here about addressing the issue? I can only think because the 'line jumping epidemic of 2009' is probably no different or severe than that in years past... At the end of the day, you can't please everyone... Could you imagine Madea, Miss Mable Simmons herself in IBEW_Sparky's situation today... I bet it would have gone something like this...
  18. So you knew me Dan? Cool... With regards to the speeds, after the magnetic breaks were installed the speed of the train passing through the shed was more consistent, reaching speeds of 31-32 miles per hour. If the train exceeded 33 mph through the shed (in the skid days), was considered a no no, as Im sure Shaggy can attest. I think the most fair statement regarding the magnetic breaks is they deliver a more consistent speed through the course. I might have misread a previous post, but when the magnetic breaks were installed it was explained that in order for the intensity of the earth magnets to be altered, additional sections of magnets would have to be added. Beast feels the same to me as it has in the past, nothing really new, just fun as usual. Aside from those miscellaneous rides after park closing when the shed break would be dropped... intense but good times nonetheless...
  19. if they did you could say you'd look like Pope Kinzel I
  20. You aren't playing that game, yet by everything you write I feel that you think virtually nothing is being done about "the problem". I guess I should consider myself fortunate that it doesn't bother me as it clearly does you. Carry on your crusade to fight the line jumper problem plaguing Kings Island. I've found debating with you is usually futile because you come back with generally open-ended, vague answers or even questions to answer a question. I've stated my opinion and don't feel like I can offer any more debate than I already have. People who subscribe to this site respect what you post, but in my personal opinion I can only hope those who wish to voice concern follow appropriate channels. So all I can say to "The Interpreter" is I disagree with you, no more no less.
  21. I CAN'T argue my side anymore with The Interpreter. I suggest we ALL heed his advice and just bypass everyone at the local park level and go straight to the top. (That was my feeble attempt at humor, caps lock and all ) In all seriousness, I would like to know, from "The Interpreter" what his estimate would be for the following... How many instances of line jumping, on average, occur at Kings Island during a normal summer operating day and of those instances, how many are addressed by a staff member of Kings Island. ... Actually, I'd like to open that question up to everyone. Since the park reads these threads, it might be interesting for them to see what people actually think, in an actual figure.
  22. ... seems like you have to do a lot of things...
  23. BavarianBeetle, I take zero offense to your statement at all... I totally agree that you should get what you pay for without a doubt. The park should, as it does, enforce rules. But as everyone knows, the reality of the situation is, you can't get everyone. I think patrons of Kings Island are pretty fortunate to be able to enjoy a safe, family environment. Yet there are some who don't feel this way and do choose to voice a concern. And this being my main point, when making a complaint, be humble and start at the bottom of the totem pole, and work your way from there. Firing off letters to a corporate office isn't where I would start. You never know what changes can happen from someone other than a CEO
  24. hundreds and hundreds... and the park entertains millions and millions... What are your thoughts on gum chewing? Or crying babies? Or the stinky guy in front of you in line? To me, I understand getting irritated with the line jumping as after all it is a rule. I just don't ever see deflated basketballs as a prize to be won, although at some point it might happen... Who knows? Im curious as to how many complaints the park gets annually on the bouncing ball factor
