  1. The videos worked fine for me and I'm using Firefox. It might take a bit to load the overview though.
  2. I happened to stumble across a gentleman's recordings of his days as a trumpet player for the "Hot Hit's" show at Kings Island which looks to be during the time of KECO. The video is broken into three parts. There's also one of a cast performing to the Huey Lewis & The News hit "The Heart of Rock 'n Roll" after a number from the incredibly talented band. Check 'em out. Hot Hit's
  3. Hmmm... Let's look through KICentral's handy dandy history feature. That picture can give you a general idea.
  4. Those Paramount tie-ins actually made some sense to me. Drop Zone was named after the movie. There was a poster around AZ referring to it. Since it's about a group of skydivers, the idea behind the ride was that you're filming a stunt for the movie, hence the subtitle, Stunt Tower. Face Off, based on the John Travolta / Nicholas Cage movie, plays off the literal name; you're facing your friends while riding the ride. Theming as an ambiance probably wasn't the point, it was likely just the sake of using movie titles.
  5. I hope they didn't take too much out of that temple... or big for that matter.
  6. They've already done 7th Portal as well. What's your point? There's also Smash Factory... that was fun.
  7. I believe they have the same company that put up the original Paramount branded sign. The company also did work around Cincinnati, including The Jewish Hospital.
  8. Action Theatre and its other post-paramount counterparts are from SimEx ! Iwerks, not Technifex.
  9. I used to work at Riverbend and I can say that the lawn isn't quite the best place to work, let alone enjoy a concert. If you like the act enough, get seats under the pavilion. Not only would you be dry if it were to rain, but the view isn't as impeded. The new pavillion makes me think that it would be used more for intimate performances, including CSO's summer series. I think it'll be interesting to see who books a gig there when it's all said and done.
  10. On the flipside, I think one of the best shows that has been at the KI Theater is Forbidden Magic: Secrets of the Mummy's Tomb, back in 2001. There was also a swing show a long time ago that was also stellar, but I can't remember the exact name of it. Both of these were before the renovations, a la bench style seating.
  11. While I was up at the park today, Invertigo was going through some test cycles in addition to Drop Tower. I also saw some checks on top of Delirium going on. It won't be soon before long...
  12. I always liked it when first timers asked me what exactly the ride did when I was checking bars. I remember two girls asking me and I calmly said "Well, it doesn't do much. You pretty much stay here, we shine a couple lights at you, maybe splash a 'lil water here and there, and play really cool music in the background. It's quite relaxing," while riders who already knew what the ride did laughed in the background. Quite a reaction when the ride homed and I went back on the ride to see what they thought... "OMG, that was insane! I hate you for that! But I loved it.. I wanna ride it again!" Priceless. On the other hand, I'm entirely too ready to see what they've done with the place. Maybe they'll keep up with the theming this year.. or let it go to be another Disaster Transport, as I'm told that rides theming has gone downhill as well.
  13. I use the former TR's drum track. Helps out with the lower octaves.
  14. September of 2003, member #16. I was originally on PKIU and hitched a ride over onto this community. 5 years flew by so fast...
  15. The difference in the shows between KD and KI are at KD, they're using headset mics like those of a Countryman Isomax or Shure WBH53 while at KI, they're using handheld Shure SM 58's. I know for a fact headworn mics are harder to mix in a live situation, so I can see why it would be harder with those especially in front of a 3 piece band, multi-track backing, and about 8 or so leads.
  16. Reviving an old topic, but I had to throw in my 2 cents. First off, Natalie Gibson is a very sweet and personable woman. I would know.. I went to high school with her and we were both in a competition show choir together. Second, I understand that DA was more of an adult-oriented show, but how could you not get the warnings beforehand? And if the elements in the show bother you, take a look at some high school productions. Many a times I've seen high school show choirs contain a taste of the behavior that was in DA. Not like a "no-holds-barred" deal, but it's not a kids show either.

    PKI

I've read them. Are you saying reading and following the rules is scary?
  18. Actually, the sound isn't bad. It's pretty darn good, in fact.
  19. I don't believe they allow cameras on the climb. However, they do take a group photo up there for you with their own photographers. I know I wanna try the climb!
