Hey nice read and it flowed well. I agreed with everything you said and thought markr is my kind of critic, but then you blew it by rating Blue Streak over Beast. Yeah that boardwalk view is great and it gives you a chance to relax. again thanks for the read and look forward to another report from you soon.

Great news, We have adjusted our July 4th plans to reflect Robbie and Bills recommendations and we are looking forward to doing something new. Strange thing happened, all my customers are closed on Friday but one decided to open up on the 4th so I had to find someone to cover. I just booked the Marriott River Center four star hotel on priceline for get this $60.00 (I got a receipt to prove it) while the other on line sites list it for $149.00 that night. We stayed there once before way back in 2000 about a month after Miss Rae was born You can see the Marriott over my right shoulder in the picture above. Needless to say we are very excited about doing some things we enjoyed in our past plus discovering some new adventures. Robbie I'll get with you later about times and looking forward to meeting up at some point and thank you very much for all the great information. Bill – We have never been to Strickers Grove and we are almost looking forward to it as much as I am about finally meeting all the special people your life. It's like icing on the cake. So thank you too for all the information and suggestion. Talk to you soon Buddy.. Diamondback FOF thanks for information feedback and sorry I was not clear in my post, what I was congratulating Robbie on was his graduation from DAAP. I knew it was coming up but a long time moderator graduating with a master after six years seemed to me that I must have missed a separate thread somewhere.

Location of premium parking vs getting a locker
Avatar replied to cmcmindiana's topic in Kings Island
Thanks LaurAsh did not know that changed I always hated sending our friends through the park to get in. I will change my earlier post to reflect your information to reduce confusion. why do BB ERT great seats, changed and ready to ride as they let others in. I park in the VIP lot then go to DB ERT, followed by 2-3 other coaster rides until 10:40AM then drive over to the BB entrance go in change and get seats, Ride the most popular water attractions before any lines form. Thats why I do it. -
Location of premium parking vs getting a locker

Why do I feel like this lady in the Chef boy-ar-dee commercial. Shh Yes if you have parking privileges then you only need to pay the difference. usually $5.00 but seen it higher and passed. ***Post edited here to remove better updated information, which can be found in LaurAsh post below.*** Note that the parking over by Boomerang Bay is close by that entrance and even on worst of days would not even need a VIP section, as just season pass holders can enter there. -

Yes all that and if you went to both the dry side and wet side you would maybe need two lockers unless, but as I said shh. -

I do what you are describing all the time and often will leave the VIP lot to go to Boomerang Bay entrance with our swim attire then later after were done there, change and drive back to the VIP lot later that day. But I try to keep this quiet as I do not want others to figure it out especially the nickle raising corporate types. Edit to add; Move along folks nothing further to read below. -
Great video and music selection. I love goofing around with video editing, you can lose some serious hours playing around with it. looks like you used a lot of the editing techniques such as text, slow motion and one that used the sun to hide the track until the DB train came down. Liked it a lot thanks for sharing.

Sorry but after thinking about this for a bit longer I would like to add a few more thoughts. I have for years been going to Kings Island on various Holidays and in fact if you have asked me what my family would be doing on the 4th of July on any years past, we all ready knew what we would be doing a year ahead and even longer. Because of the great times my family has had during the holiday weekend in the past, we decided that Kings Island is where we wanted to be year after year as a tradition. The last few years there has been some changes even the one time it was celebrated on a work day (so we missed that one,0 but even then extra festivities where added. The thing is it takes so long for a business to gain reputation of of doing certain things to build guest satifaction and that was what has happened for us. Now I must be honest we will not be coming to Kings Island this year on the 4th of July or even next year or the year after that (pains me to say that) as once I give up on a annual family activity and start a new one going back to the old one will require something really worth it as I have lost trust in the old tradition as far as expectations go. This is in no way Kings Island Bashing I love the park and will visit it often while adding to some great memories. But I just need to say Kings Island has lost my families traditional of 4th of July annual trips until further notice and maybe forever if we find another family 4th of July activity that we want to keep. Wherespiritsroam – In a topic you started a couple weeks back you asked how the 4th of July would be At Kings Island a lot of members did not recommend it but I piped in and offered another voice and shared some of my observation based on past trips. I even suggested an Itinerary for you, that plan will still work and you will have fun. But I must be honest and tell you I take back my recommendation for going on the forth now. I do not say this out of bitterness, but it would bother me a lot if you went based on something I said and then it did not turn out the way I suggested it would. With the no special events planned this year (other than more fireworks) and the normal crowd size I do not suggest Kings Island as others have said. I am not saying you will not have a good time but suggesting another date in my opinion will maximize your chances of having the best Kings Island experience ever. I love Kings Island and want other guest to have the best time ever and often. So best of luck to you I hope you guys have a great time when you do go. Like I said earlier this post should not come off as Kings Island bashing but more as feedback for those interested. So let me put this in perspective. Opening weekend – Exceeded my expectations Ride Warrior Coaster Weekend – Really exceeded my expectations. ASA memorial day weekend – Really exceeded my expectations and just blew me away (awsome) July 4th Weekend – Lack of announced festivities, changing our plans.

I agree the past few years but but before that Kings Island used to do a lot on the 4th. I wonder what changed? If I am going to give props for things Kings Island does well then I need to also point out where I get disappointed and as you said the past few yews besides last year and unfortunitly the rain hurt them on that. Really it is OK because other places offer more I just need to switch my yearly family plans from going to Kings Island (which we loved to do) on the 4th weekend to going to other places.

Once back in the 90's while sweeping the Vortex line, I saw a lady wearing a brief bikini top (Dolly Parton size) along with cut off shorts exposing her bikini bottoms and she had a Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction. Did it cause her to blush or turn red?? Nope. She just fixed it as if nothing happen. I remember her because she was wearing a red, white, and blue bikini and you might say she was showing her "colors!" I think this is ok over at the water park, but not in the park itself. I think all bathing suits should be covered, even the tops. Because I am proud of the work I do, I made sure that part of the line was spotless. Speaking of doing good work, once while working for Montgomery Wards as a porter, I was pushing a dust mop along the hall when the lady I refered to as "Miss America", was wearing her usual purple skirt with a slit going all the way up the side of her leg. As she past me and I turned my head to keep her in my sight, I ran into one of my supervisor friend. He knew what I was doing and laughed also. The point is wearing revealing bikini tops or any other clothing is a distraction. Also beings we are a family park, children are witness to this. They should not have to see this. They are a distraction! My favorite story was from 2007 when I was with my (then younger) kids walking through Coney Mall: While I was "distracted" by an attractive woman in a bikini top, one of them said "Look how big those are!" I looked down and fortunately he was pointing to the stuffed Spider Man prizes at one of the games! But I was worried for a second and actually feared that I was "busted"..... WOW just Wow, you guys are killing me, those are some very funny stories, Thanks for sharing and the great laugh.

You know I will, I may need to see what Buddy Bill is doing on Friday. I really think this is what we are going to do I'll let you know for sure as we get closer. BTW the work I get in the Cincy and N KY area has been sporadic the past month and darn if I had work the week before and the week after your presentation display at the University. I really would have like to seen it and Congratulations. (did I miss a thread on this?)

VortexJumkie it sounds like your boys are in good hands and you should be proud of yourself.

Robbie thanks for the reminder, we did go to Coney Island several years back on the 3rd and really had a good time. You know I have been looking for something to replace my planned KI visit on the 4th so maybe I should do Coney on the third and then Stickers grove on the 4th. I wish I had the time to do something like Dave and Kat have planned but maybe next year. those two have really been going to some great places this year.

Those who know me or have read my postings through the years know I avoid controversy to almost the extremes, but like to sprinkle a dash of humor here and there. In this thread I felt I shared some humor that I would in no way be offended by and trust me I have had lots of jokes and pranks thrown my way and enjoy it when others feel they can. It came to my attention that my jokingly may have been misunderstood and therefore offended some. So I usually would not remark or explain (as it is often said; lees said is best said) , but I surly did not want my remarks to be misunderstood so I tried to clarify what I was meaning by my post. I will just say it once more IF anyone misunderstood what I was trying to say and they where HONESTLY offended then I am sorry, but I will add this after I tried to clarify and you where still offended then I am not sorry but I am sorry for you. I was upset that I could have offended someone and wished that I had not posted but now I am glad because I think it may be a good thing for old and new members to see what was said and how it was said so that we may have a better understanding of each other. I am proud and I am proud that many of you PM or texted your concerns rather than add fuel to the fire.

I have been patiently waiting to see what special activities Kings Island will offer for the July 4th Holiday. I keep checking Kings Island web site http://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/eve...05&ec_id=15 but it only list a larger firework show for that evening. I was so looking forward to going to Kings Island again this year for the 4th of July festivities , especially since the holiday falls on a Saturday this year and even considered staying over Saturday night. I must say if the expanded firework show is all they are going to offer this family will be doing something else like we did a couple years back when they decided to have activities on the 3rd a work day for many. Being sarcastic here but it looks like Kings Island is mainly interested in the younger crowd this year and since the forth is celebrated with family for many, I guess Kings Island feels no need to do anything special to bring them in. with just 11 days till the 4th of July and nothing special being announced, I am Very Disappointed and hope something changes soon!!!

True but the wizard left the Fair and later at some point heads back to Kansas .

cleaver and I must admit I like your directions as well, but if they follow the yellow brick road that could be Worlds Of Fun!

Oh my goodness. I think it was great you all did that and I enjoyed reading the reports and seeing the pictures you all shared. If I could have gotten away I would have joined you all. In truth back in my old days I bought a inappropriate shirt and was told to change to or wear it inside out and since them realized that was inappropriate not comparing to the Glam Rockers (to be clear) but to other inappropriate dressed guest who may find down the road that they were out out line as I did. I am also glad that the Internet was not around like it is today back in the early eighties as there would be many picture of me dressed out to promote different causes that would have made the fun group Glam Rockers look really tame in comparison. In my opinion this issue of dressing has not changed since I was a little Kid in the 60's to present and I do not see it going away in my life time. As far as a group getting together like Glam Rockers keep it up people enjoy seeing others having fun. I am a bit shocked that someone would take my post about dress so seriously, as it was not meant to be taken that way. Just some fun humor amongst fellow members.

Actually to be fair I would have to say that the Birthday Party at Kings Island is a great idea and in comparison to other business offering Birthday Parties I think Kings Island is priced right. In my local area the Chuck E Cheese runs for $11.00 or $16.00 for a hour and a half party including pizza and cake Also the Local Skating rinks offer a similar package about the same time frame for $10.00 Many families opt to have their children's Birthday Parties at local hotels that offer poll activities and such. The local Holiday in here in Indianapolis offers a large poll activity center and runs $229.00 a night (for four guests) with no party favors. That averages $57.25 per person. Kings Island running $37.00+ for a all day party with friends being able to ride age appropriate rides, a water park (with lifeguards) and a sit down meal with birthday activities. In my opinion a GREAT DEAL!!! Plus the option for season pass holders and other gate pass holders a discounted price. Sure I could invite 10 friends over and have cake and ice cream for a lot less money but that would not be comparing apples to apples. Birthdays are a big social event for youth and parents enjoy watching their kids having fun with lots of friends while their child is getting some spot light attention. The past several years my Daughter has had a group of her friends over for a pool Party Birthday. Well by the time you add up the price for the cook-out food and snack, plus the cost of having party favors. and in our case a July birthday is not complete without fireworks. So by the time you add it all up $37.05 is not bad at all plus I do not need to do all the work getting things ready and organized. Business have latched on to the popularity of Birthday Parties and to many parents it a great alternative from a lot of hard work planning and in many cases cheaper for them. Miss Rae has said for years she would love to have a Birthday Party at Kings Island and the price seems right and encompasses all the activities she and her friends have enjoyed in the past years plus more.

Does anybody find it amusing that some of the same guest complaining about park attire are the same ones who promoted a certain dress attire last week at Kings Island, some of which can be seen in avatar pictures.

First of all; A Big Welcome to the KICentral Community Wherespirtsroam!! I checked your profile and since there is not much there, I can only go by the two post you have made so far. Typically amusement parks are busy on holiday weekends (weather permitting) and Kings Island usually offers extra entertainment during the holidays which brings in more guests. You should count on a pretty busy day at Kings Island. My advice for you is it depends. If you are a season pass holder, a once a year visitor or somewhere in between. If you go once a year or riding lots of rides is important then I suggest another day may be your best option. As we do not need another "Worst Park Visit Ever" trip report showing up in the trip report section. Here is the secret to enjoying "The Best Trip Ever" during the 4th of July weekend. Don't go for the rides but go for the Atmosphere You say in your second post that you guys are not huge Coaster Fans but you indicate that you do like riding them, if you had not said that I would have not posted and let the others answers stand. You hint that it is not the most important aspect for a trip to Kings Island. the thing is we ride rides from April through October so no need to do them on busy holiday weekends - right? That is the time to spend quality time with the one your with by doing things you would not normally do when visiting Kings Island. Such as getting a chalk drawling done of you two, take your time shopping through the international street shops, catching shows (indoor ones midday) ect. Treat the crowd like it is part of the atmosphere and you'll hardly notice them, 90+% of them are not going where you are going because they are there for the rides. Sample Itinerary if you have a Season Gold Pass; 9-10 AM Diamondback ERT Ride The Beast then 3-4 of you favorite coaster Get to Boomerang Bay as early to opening as possible and ride the popular attractions first Then slow down from the hustle and float around the lazy river Have lunch at Boomerang Bay take quick nap since KI closes at Midnight Swim in Wave Pool after your nap to cool off. 80's show Shop, Picture taken at old time photo or drawling Take in the Ice show wonder around the park and ride what you feel like waiting for and play some Midway Games (allot a certain amount for this) Make sure to take in the special event entertainment (if offered this year) when it is scheduled. Enjoy the Royal fountain at night Get a good seat for Fireworks PM me if you need a spot 1015-12 ride Beast and Diamond back or any other rides you would like as the park will clear out and the lines decrease. Remember if you are there for fireworks you will either wait in line to get out of the parking lot or in a line for a ride – your choice. Not a stressful day and you will have hardly waited in any lines. I used to not go during busy times but now it is one of my favorite times to go because we do other things we don't normally do during the slower time. In my opinion you can have just as much fun during the busy days as you can on slower days it just depends on your mind set going in. With the special entertainment on those extra busy holiday weekends, it makes going on holidays weekends memorable. Hope that helps again welcome to KICentral.

Several years back going to Kings Island on Fathers Day was a great time to go if you wanted a crowd free day to celebrate. Unfortunate that was not good for Kings Island, so now they offer bring a friend for a cheap price day on Mothers Day and on Fathers day which has increased the crowd a great deal. But that those always change depending on the weather.

As soon as I seen the title i could not get to the bottom of this thread to post what I miss about Paramount and the owners prior. The Music I Hate Hate HATE the music they are playing at Kings Island now. HATE IT!!!!

Probably has something to do with Tattoo Highway coming on June 27th, at least I hope so.
-
OH...I never thought of doing that, thanks for the idea. We missed you and it s good to hear you got some coaster time in. And while at KI on Saturday, I was thinking how empty it was for a Saturday since so many people were at CP. Not that I was complaining. There was noone at Cedar Point on Saturday either! Sunday was nothing but walk-ons! Makes me want to go back. It's one of those thing that we hope they are busy so they can make lots of money for new attractions, except on days we are there. Thanks again for all the comments
