Probably for the same reason my daughter rode a few rides for a couple years then was told for her safety she was not tall enough to ride them anymore when Cedar Fair took over. Hard part for her to understand that year was that she rode the same type of rides at other non-Cedar Fair parks.

Absolute WORST park-going experience of my life!
Avatar replied to IBEW_Sparky's topic in Trip Reports
IBEW_Sparky sorry to hear about your frustrating day at Kings Island today. With the many trips most of us take we are bound to have one not up to our liking, I hope you back off from not going to the park in the near future as you are one that respect the rules and the park needs more guest like you to set a great example -
Gabe I hate to do this but your description and comparison of Disney's food is a bit of a stretch for me to accept and different from other Disney employees who have posted here and else where. I appreciate your opinion but a kind as I can offer another one. First of all for most of those who have worked in a restaurant know employees get pretty much the same food as the paying customers do for a greatly reduced price. When I worked in a restaurant my daily meal was free and they charged the customers $12.99 for the same thin,. not that unusual. Second I have eaten my fair share of Hamburgers at both Disney and Kings Island, I agree a hamburger is a hamburger but if you put both down in front of me I can guarantee you I'll take the Disney one everyday of the week, not a huge difference but there is a difference. $8.00 Hambuger at Disney – Where? At Typhoon Lagoon a cheeseburger with fries is $6.09 and at Backlot Express at Hollywood Studios a double w/cheese is $6.59 including fries. The only place I could find a Cheeseburger at Disney World for more than $8.00 is at Pecos Bill at Magic Kingdom for $8.09 and it is a double which includes fries and a huge works bar with hot pan served saute vegetables and enough cold toppings to make it impossible to open ones mouth to get a bite. Source AllEars.com http://allears.net/din/dining.htm EPCOT is a favorite spot for many guests to dine at all the many sit down dinning locations. They have world renowned chefs brought in to keep the menu interesting. But this is true throughout Disney world parks and resorts. Many restaurants are booked solid months in advance and you need to hope for a cancellation to dine there. The best promotion Disney has offered and they have offered it for years because of its success is the Free Dinning Promotion which is the Disney Dinning Plan but at no charge. Many guests including my family love this promotion because we enjoy having a great family sit down meal while enjoying the Disney parks, it gives us some down time to relax. Here are a few links of forum topics that may shed some light on how popular the Dinning choices are at Disney World. http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=14 http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=116 http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=127 And one last link to a thread that shows the Disney food purchased by guest (helps show the quality) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=...39#post23018839 Again as I said I respect your opinion but I know there or others who do not share yours and want to make sure we are comparing apples to apples.

Great video Rex and as others have said nice ending to it, it took me by surprise but who knows someday soon you'll be on that over the top coaster with Mini Rex. Look forward to your podcast and future visit to Kings Island.

I miss the clock working too and Miss Rae always wanted us to go by there and watch them at least once every visit. I captured this short video below back in 2007 and I am glad I did. Enjoy!! Little details really help atmosphere at parks and helps set the mood for visiting guests.

Trip to Kings Island Sunday May 31 with a 2 yr old
Avatar replied to jacobliford's topic in Kings Island
Wait there is a lot you can do with her the attractions at Nickelodeon Universe and according to KI brochure for guest under 36" she can ride Go Diego Go, Jimmy Neutron Atom Smasher, Timmy's Air Tours, Lazytown Sportacopters, Nick-o-Round, La Adventura de Azu, Swiper's Sweepers, Nick Jr drivers, and the Scooby & the Haunted Castle. some of those you can ride with her others use you judgment, and make sure you get a good spot to video shot her when she is on Swiper Sweeps, you'll enjoy that video for years trust me. In the rest of the park enjoy other attractions that you think she may be ready for such as the Monster, Grand Carousel, Eifel Tower and the Railroad. You'll have a blast with the roaming characters, theres a great show of Marty's Party and even some face painting booths. One of my daughters favorite places at Kings Island when she was two was the water park they have various age specific places for the little ones to play and splash around in. I guess what I am saying there is tons of things for children of all ages to do at Kings Island and your going to have a blast while making some great family memories don't forget your camera (if i did I would have missed the opportunity to capture some of my memories) -
Hey Gator no need to apologize about not stopping I can tell when a fellow member is on a mission from their speed walking and determined look on their face, after all i had family with me too Sunday. Sorry to hear about your your ordeal at FOC, I hope the line jumpers kids learn a early lesson and resit doing it in their future, just do me a favor though please do not listen to the song "I Shot The Sheriff" before you visit the Nickelodeon Universe area (just do want you to get any ideas). I enjoyed the update as i have your past updates.

I much prefer to have an e-mail copy of my ride photos for two reasons first I don't like to carry the photo around and two I want the best quality I can get of the photo. A printed photo then scanned is not as good of quality as the original digital copy that is e-mailed. In fact a few friends who have ridden with me on a few rides know I will buy the picture and have the original e-mailed to me, then hand the photo to the friend.

Kawana - It was good to see you at the park Sunday and after seeing you taking pictures with your camera I was hoping to see some great pictures from you, I must say they look awesome. I'm glad you got your camera to work better for you through the netting. I also took a few pictures at the concert and I thought one you may enjoy seeing that i took is one when Pop Evil lead singer was out in the audience. Miss Rae keep saying "there's that plumber guy".

I absolutely dislike waiting in long lines so for years I avoided Amusement parks during special events until several years back my wife strongly urged me to go over a holiday when Kings Island was offering some special activities. Well we had a blast and I realized the extra activities were worth going to by themselves even if we did not ride on any rides. Just like this past weekend my family had a blast made some new fun memories and now I keep hearing how busy Kings Island was but they never seemed to be where we were.

We were in line for BLSC and I looked up and seen them, then told the crowd in line around us to look up. They kinda reminded me of what i think Haley's Comet would look like. Any way here is a short video I shot of them and you can kind of see the flares better in this video.

Dan - How do you know he did not? I had a similar occurrence a few years back on a closing weekend at I-Street LaRosa in which we had purchased a family salad with our pizza. Same problem no cutlery. I seated the family and asked for some cutlery and they said they would look but may be out i looked next door at the place Cinabon is now at and they did not have any either. I went back in and was told they where out. I asked then why are they still selling salds and other items that may need cutlery, no esponse but some customers started to put items back when hearing my concerns expressed across the counter with several of the employees. I went back to the table and got the salad and asked for a refund the employee at the cash register said you mean you want your money back and i said yeah i can not eat a salad with my hands. he keep ringing up other customers 3-4, I then stood there and told him he is not ringing up another sale until I am refunded so he called over a superviser who was one i was talking to earlier he took his sweet time coming over then with out a word hit a couple keys got my money out and handed it to me. He never offered any of your thoughts on what would have been offered if I opened my mouth "they would have been happy to replace your food, and apologize for your inconvienence and would work on getting some utensils right away if they weren't currently doing so". I was very upset probably the most upset i have ever been at KI in all the years i have been going to KI. If Interpreter said it happend then it did and knowing him he would have spoken up. I know it does happen because it happend to my family even when we did speak up.

Gold About to Go Away...Prices May Rise...

pkiruler102 - I think it wonderful to hear your father leaving the parking lot behind and joining you and others hear inside the park. We'll keep a look out for his first post. -
gabelogan99 it looks like you had a nice long weekend full of fun. I was glad you came over so we could meet and it was nice to be able to go to experience a couple attractions. The one guy that joined us after you which said he was mainly a lurker I believe S/N is Cort and I am always glad when lurkers come over to say hi as we usually see more of them down the road.

I'll be there and as I have said over the years watching live musical performance from popular bands at Kings Island is a unique experience. Watching a video after the fact does not do justice so I would suggest everybody needs to make sure they are there.

Six Flags Anyone? Cedar Fair does a great job trying to cater to everyone and as far as Kings Island, they added two Thrill Coasters for their last two new attractions. I believe they seen a need for them and acted on it. If I was a betting man (and I'm not) I would not bet on a new Thrill Coaster they may have another need.
-
Ogrmac nice pictures and it sounded like you had some fun seeing Chicago not only through your eyes but as well as through gifted childrens eyes too. I love Chicago and enjoy visiting there but we have not been there since Miss Rae was born, I think we may need to consider going up there soon.

So let me get this strait if I was selling Popsicles nationwide and the deep south was were the most sales and competition are I should equally keep advertising and offering new items in Alaska were the sales were much softer in fear of offending the Eskimo's. It is what it is in every business out there the amusement/theme parks want all the sales they can get and from anyone/group they can. But since at the end of the day they operate to make a profit they will see who is spending what where and adjust their advertisements to maximize their business model. They do not ignore a group over another but will focus their decisions to pull the most they can out of each group.
-
Oh by the way, I did notice that Kings Island so far this year has opened a high thrill roller coaster, talked to the media about a teen age boy saving his money to get a first ride auction seat. In addition to that they have booked a All Sports Action event over memorial day and are offering a free alternative rock concert free of charge on the same weekend. So with that said it looks to me that Kings Island is really trying to appeal to the teenage market this year.
-
I have never heard any park make the claim that the only money they make comes in from families. Yes they make a lot from groups and events and even from teenagers especially at Halloween time. But it is a true fact that families is where the biggest revenue source comes from. Keep in mind that would include a Mom and Dad bringing their teenage children to the park as well.
-
No argument just a discussion and believe me I felt the same way many years ago. With that said as a family man now I do spend far more money at the park than I did in my twenties with out the family. True but most KI guest have never gone to that park to ride it so it is new to them and it did cost a lot to relocate it.
-
First of all that statement as your heard it is in fact true, maybe not the nickle and dimes but the dollars which in turns helps them with the average Per Cap spending of guests. Which help them show financiers and inverters that they have focused in on how to maximize there income potential. With that statement they still have added two thrill coasters at KI in three years which is more than most could hope for. It is a fact a most parks that the families are tho ones who pull out the wallet and spend money on games, rides, food and merchandise. Teenagers which the park does love usually have limited amount of money to spend. How many teenagers are there at the $12..99 Back Yard BBQ and at the $16.99 Rivertown Junction Buffet. I would say KI makes a lot more money from those two dinning choices than they do from any long line in Action Zone.

I enjoy reading your trip updates as the season progresses. It must be nice to live so close that you can pop in and out of the park and reading about that it kinda reminds me of watching a show where someone is trying to be two places at one time. I enjoy seeing you at the park and look forward to seeing you there more often and hopefully more rides together.

You guys got me and Miss Rae to have a great laugh. The pictures and videos that you guys started to shot towards the end of the weekend are to funny and I wonder what we would have seen if there was another day of Ride Warrior Coaster Weekend. Thanks for the laugh.
