  1. This may help with some of the faces, KIfan1980/Keith is behind PKIboy's shoulder.
  2. Andrew I have always felt the best part of any event is being able to hang out and to get to know fellow enthusiast/members better. I am glad we got to spend a good amount of time together to get to know each other better, I enjoyed your report it was pretty detailed. KIfan1980 Good to meet you yesterday as well. To answer your question let me put it to you this way, One was full of pumpkin seeds and the other full of ..it!!!
  3. I will weigh in on this one and please understand that I am talking in general and understand that many members have their own validated feelings of on this issue. Any KIC event that charges money creates a situation of affordability as many KIC members are students, head of household or can be out of work at the time. The members must decide is the offered event worth their disposable money they have available. As far as "what is the benefit" of attending any KIC event to me is if the scheduled event works in my schedule then it is for two reasons 1. having fun with fellow members with special offerings and 2. Supporting KICentral. Let me explain so far this year we as a group have been invited to two winter events which did not cost the members anything. Then in early May KI invited KICentral members to join in RWCW and again there was no charge. So surprisingly KIC was invited to participate in another event but this time for a charge of $18.00, the scheduled offers less than some of the other events but I figure after this event I will have only paid $18.00 total for four events. So as a whole I feel being a member of KICentral I have been treated very well to be treated to so many activities and to have only paid $18.00. I do understand that others may not be able to justify the cost for their own reasons. I will support KICentral at the Mid-Summer Scream Event so that when times comes for KICentral to ask to be invited to future events then KI knows KICentral members will show up. Edit To Correct: in my original post I stated that the winter events did not cost anything but in fact the first scheduled one was at a charge of $6.00 so for everything that that has been offered the actual cost was $24.00 which I think most still can agree is a real bargain overall. The second event was to invite KICentral members to a unplanned construction tour, when the first construction tour was canceled due to to weather, KI offered that out of kindness. Thanks Standbyme for your polite PM to let me know about the Winter Blues event cost.
  4. Ouch!!! that fall description sounds really bad, sorry to hear your misfortune. I did enjoy your report and gld to hear you had a great day. I can not believe you rode all those rides with your arm like that. Enjoyed the report.
  5. Nice loving the report so far keep it coming.
  6. I like your attitude rcfreak339 but KICentral always Was, Is and Continues to be the best Theme/Aumusement park fan sites out there. Things change over time and adjustments need to be made to maintain things but I know the Admins and Mod will come through like they have done in the past.
  7. For those who would like to do some moderating themselves for a more enjoyable KIC experience. You can in your “My Controls” go down to the left and click on “Manage Ignored Users” and enter any member you wish to ignore.
  8. Rcfreak339 You are saying what many have been saying for some time. The truth is many of the Old and New members are still here but are choosing not to participate in the current offerings and are tying to wait out for some type of change. LongLiveTheSmurfRide you said it right about the real true park and KIC enthusiasts fans are here to stay especially in the off seasons. DiamondbackLover to be honest this thread has nothing to do with you, over the years we get many like you that come and go and we will get many more. Basically what I am saying is your not that unique. Boodah1984 - I hope more focus is on the members and what they want and less on what others want us to know. (It's not fun anymore) there needs to be a better balance and fast. I support this site 100% and know you guys have lives but this site has some of the best members I have ever been associated with and I think they are being under utilized and overlooked. I am here through all the changes even when I post less at times.
  9. I agree that this should probably be moved into the meet-up forum instead of this forum as it gets buried quickly. I even was texting back and forth with a member Saturday so they could find this thread. Only mention I see about Dane requesting this thread to be restarted was in the KIC announcement and information thread here http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=320959 which he says.
  10. Oh I agree about the age or even the use of a life jacket, but resort was busy so i don't know if they were available. Basically I am ignorant on the total facts but the authorities are not saying anything about neglect or such, plus I do not know the families history. The family is grief stricken beyond anyone's imagination I am sure of that. Why do i know that? Well many who know me know I have a adult stepson which I have cared for since he was 7, well Travis had a 2 year younger brother. Well (not saying the name) younger brother had some health issues and several options where available, we had to choose which path would be best taking in consideration of many things. Younger brother at age 7 got up one day combed his hair brushed his teeth and went to school, that would be the last time we seen him alive as while he was in school his heart burst and he died immediately. At this time I do not know of anything worse in life than burying your child as I seen first hand what it did to a heart broken mother. Hindsight would we have chosen a different option, Hell Yeah!!! but if the circumstances where the same without knowing the results we probably would have did the same. What I am trying to say is for the most part we are ignorant of the facts but I know that family must be grief stricken and I do not want to pass ignorant of the facts judgment on them as they do not need this at this time. Their is time to second guess and pass judgment as the fact do come in down the road but for right now they need support. They have mine and please god bless them and put your healing hand upon that family.
  11. ^ thanks for the 2nd article link, that is why I try not to judge situations until all that facts come out. The mother was searching for him and got security to help when the boy was discovered. How tragic for the boy and his family and the facility too.
  12. Going to Disney is similar to many other parks if you walk up to the gate like Kings Island you'll pay full price. But with a little planning discounts and promotions are out there that can really save you money. Many question the park ticket increase during times like these, but remember Disney World is a international destination point and since the dollar is week here in the US many world travelers take advantage and travel at times like these. Like Dave said above Disney is pieced as a destination for longer visits and charge more for the single day visitors. For those who have been know Disney really goes above and beyond in there attraction and entertainment choices at the park so single day visitors should pay a fair price. Keep in mind Disney offers the Fast Pass system to all it's guests at no charge. I have read else where where some question why they are offering the free dinning so much then charge higher prices at the gate. I'll try to answer in my own words. The word is guest spending in the park is down, so by Disney offering free dinning if you stay at their resort they have gotten you pay for your tickets and room stay 45 days before arrival. Therefore that gives the guest 45 more days to save and then to bring that money to spend in the parks as there is little else to spend it on. I think this promotion is cleaver. Another thing to add to the mix of park increases is remember the national minimum wage went up recently that means everything goes up to cover the addition cost that employers now need to pay out and that includes theme/amusement parks. Dave if you included the magic your way tickets with your room at Disney and already paid for them then you'll need to pay the difference when you get there. If you have not paid for your tickets already then they will automatically increase that price in your invoice. That is the way they have done with us this past three years as Disney always raise their prices on the first Sunday in August. I do believe the B-Day card allowance is increased to the new ticket price. Have fun.
  13. I am in as usual, I mean I have never been disappointed with a KIC event or a meet-up. Getting together with fellow enthusiast has always proven to be one of the best parts about going to Kings Island. Sometimes the group sizes are large while other events are fewer in numbers, but I believe both offer a unique but fun experience. I am looking forward to another fun filled day. If I was to be granted a wish for the Mid-Summer Scream, I would wish for a full walk back tour of The Beast. I have enjoyed many walk back tours of The Beast before and I am sure I will enjoy the traditional first drop tour but hoping and wishing for an opportunity for a full walk back. 1.kjkjkj/ Kyle- Maybe going 2. Ashers/ Ashley- Maybe going 3. Avatar/ Jesse 4. dare-to-fly 5. Justin M17/ Justin 6. AgentSoB/ Tracy 7. Andrew- should be going but not definite 8. Ogrmac / Makayla 9. Coaster Kid/ Ryan 10. mtl2013 (probably) 11. StalkerChick/ Rachel (again will probably be there just not sure on the whole participating thing... 12.rotag1299 ( not participating due to money issues, but will try to go) Note; HTCO said he would not be going now (Here) so I took his name off and but mine in his place to make it easier.
  14. I missed last years walk and was really disappointed, like Ryan said the special entertainment is rare and I usually come just for them so I am super excited to get a second chance. The height of this walk concerns me in two ways, first I think I would enjoy seeing the walker closer to the ground so he seems bigger and I could see facial expressions and more details during the walk. Second well I must admit I worry about my families emotionial stress if we watched someone fall from that height, I don't know why but last years height seemed OK to me but this 25 stories height makes me a bit to nervous. I will think positive thoughts but honestly I am nervous about this one.
  15. Sorry but I could not go on after the second paragraph said this Well I get sick and tired of reading class warfare comments. Since the author showed me the angle he was taking that was as far as I needed to go. I am in no way wealthy but at times I have chosen to do a fast queue system like last year at Universal when I only had a few hours to get through the park. I think Disney does it the best No charge and is available to every ticket holder.
  16. That is the problem so few do win the lottery. So for everybody's sake maybe a game copy of Lemon Aid would help entertainment facilities learn better price point. I mean you can raise the prices or lessen the the overall value and even do both to raise quick cash but eventually the law of supply and demand will dictate the proper value. The problem is once places get the reputation of poor value and over price points then it takes a while for those customers to change their mind on the value again. The debate will rage on but I will be glad when some places realize this sooner than later and hope they don't fool themselves in blaming the economy and try to keep prices and quality the same way for much longer.
  17. Today was Miss Rae's first day back to school from summer break, so I guess in a generic answer From here on out.
  18. Great trip report I love it when new members jump right in to share their experiences with us. So a big Welcome to KICentral goes out to you and look forward to many great reports from you!

    Century Club!

Great Job DVO - Keep on Coasting, loved the report.
  20. Zach awesome report and I love the picture selection you took of your vacation. Sounds like a great time and enjoyed the few Text messages while you were down there. I can't wait till you go on vacation again so we get another great report. So whats next?
  21. KIfan1980 - I never get tired of reading trip reports like yours. I was at work Monday when I read your report and I must say it brought tears of joy to my eyes knowing what you experienced with your boy. I had to even wait a minute before greeting my next customer as I did not want them to think something was wrong and I knew they my not understand the whole ridding coasters with our children the way we do. Thanks and enjoy those many first rides!
  22. Robbie - Your thesis is just awesome and you can tell it took a long time to do just by the details. I particularly enjoyed the fact that you made your project a allegory to Cincinnati area, this not only shows your talent in design architecture but that you have creativity in appealing to various interest. I also liked your hidden R,Z's it gave this report a fun twist as well as educational one. I have always enjoyed looking at artist renderings of projects and seeing actual photos blended in with the new construction renderings was especially interesting to me and made me say "wow that is a neat way to see this". Why am I not surprised you would do such a neat job with your presentation. Now that school is over may I ask do you miss it at all? Thanks Robbie for sharing I enjoyed it a lot and learned from your report.
  23. Jackson – first let me say I think this was a great trip report and I think it is the best one you have done. I enjoyed reading it and looked forward to seeing what you all did next. Great Job, very interesting!!! As I was reading your description about all the theming I was glad to hear you found that a good theme can turn a good attraction into an awesome experience. Jurassic Park River Adventure is very well done and I think you described it well. I about fell on the floor when I was reading that you all were passing by Spiderman, The Hulk (thanks for the Thrill Seeker interpersonality plug by the way) and The Simpson's, but you did get back to most of them. I admire your family in trying to get through both parks in a single day, I think it takes at least 2 -3 days to see everything and to reride your favorites. Your pictures in this report were superb and I looked forward to reading this report since you said you were going to do one. I see by your brother that you all must have hit the Ron Jon shop before you went to Universal. I just love Coco Beach area and glad to see you all had such a great time. Again you did an awesome job with your trip report if I had to give a grade for it I would give you a A+. I know it takes a long time to do one like you did and I just want you to know I enjoyed it and thank-you for sharing.
  24. I am enjoying reading your trip unfold and the pictures wow. I don't think I have ever seen somebody so happy about having crab in their bed. I almost did not recognize the two of you in the formals, I got used to seeing you guys in T-shirts. Thanks for sharing I am truley enjoying the read.
