  1. I realize that I'm taking a risk by not posting a happy rainbows-and-butterflies opinion on this website, but there is an issue here that needs to be addressed.

I think that if the money for this attraction isn't going to fund rehab for the rides in the park that are falling apart, then it's a huge waste of money.

Delirium has not run the same since its big breakdown in 2005. It doesn't swing as high as it used to, it makes a loud metallic whine noise when it swings, and it really slows down once it hits its apex, which is barely above a 90 degree angle compared to the way maXair at Cedar Point swings at a 110 degree angle and you can actually see behind you, almost as if you are upside down. Delirium is also quite jerky when slowing down from hitting its apex. Anyone who has ridden Delirium and maXair will tell you the same.. yes, they may show as the same ride on the websites, but it is not the same ride experience.

Crypt used to be a terrific Huss top spin. It's now to the point where neither enthusiasts nor the general public enjoy the ride, and it is now known as the world's only indoor Ferris wheel.

    Son of Beast: Enough said.

Is Delirium going to continue to run like crap? Is Crypt going to slow down to the point where it will close for "an undetermined amount of time" and just be a non-operational top spin in a building with a blocked-off walkway and no sign out front? Will we ever know what fate Son of Beast is going to face?

I hope the admission costs from Dinosaurs Alive will go toward repair costs for the abovementioned rides. Yes, we are getting WindSeeker, but that does not change facts.. adding new rides does not fix our existing ones. I'd like to know what is being done to save our existing rides. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.

Actually, compared to 2 years ago Delirium ran great last season. They seemed to fix the problem where it doesn't swing as high, and it seemed to "get up to speed" faster. I noticed this last year and actually made a topic about how I thought that it had improved and was actually close to how it was back in 2003.

  2. The park added WindSeeker for thrill seekers, and Dinosaurs Alive for families, all in the same year. You can hardly say thrill seekers are getting "gypped". Take a look at the Kings Island timeline and tell me what happened between 2003 and 2006. 2003, a family attraction (Scooby Doo) and a thrill ride (Delirirum) were added. 2004 waterpark was upgraded, also not for thrill seekers, 2005 Italian Job opened also for families. 2006 Nick Universe transition is made, also for families.

That's all Kings Island was adding, was family attractions after Tomb Raider ( except for Delirium), until Cedar Fair bought the park and added Firehawk in 2007.

If you are taking the approach of "Isn't there enough for pre-teens and families to do already?", then couldn't the same thing be said about thrill seekers? Couldn't someone easily say "Isn't there enough for thrillseekers already??

I just don't get why people are stuck in the mentality that Kings Island should only add stuff that caters to their personal wants. Kings Island needs to add a big variety of things. When Firehawk and Diamondback were the two major attractions added consecutively in 2007 then 2009 (because nothing was added in 2008 I don't think) people were complaining that the park had too many thrill rides and that they need to add more family rides. When will people ever be happy with a compromise? Thrill seekers get Diamondback in 2009 and WindSeeker in 2011. Families get Planet Snoopy in 2010 and Dinosaurs Alive! in 2011.

Oh and as for people not being interested in Dinosaurs Alive!, I am 18 and I am actually excited for it  . I have loved dinosaurs since I saw Jurassic Park when I was like 6 years old. That's what Kings Island is for, gong to to become a kid again and just have fun. So I am actually going to enjoy Dinosaurs Alive

  3. If this truly is for Son of Beast, maybe the Son of Beast haters and the Son of Beast enthusiasts will finally be able to get along!

The people that dislike Son of Beast would probably like it, if it's track is redone in super smooth steel, and they layout and banking of turns is changed to make it more exciting, and the Son of Beast enthusiasts would like it, because one of their favorite rides would be reopening

  4. I'm just grateful that we're getting a spruced up/repaved Coney Mall and WindSeeker(which I am so excited/nervous) to ride! Anything else is just bonus for me. I think all of the complainers out there need to go read a book called The American Roller Coaster by Scott Rutherford. Gives you not only beautiful photography of some AMAZING coasters, but really makes you think and puts things into perspective. So many amusement parks were built, had their glory days, and were gone at the drop of a hat. Some were replaced by generic strip malls or even parking lots! And I'm not even talking about 'rinky dink' parks here...take Chicago's Riverview Park....ran strong for 64 years, and some of the best(reportedly) roller coasters around! And one day they just shut their doors, and so many people did not expect it. Basically the point I'm trying to make here is cherish what you have, for it may or may not be gone tomorrow! I feel so incredibly lucky to have KI as my home park, and I try to remember that every time I visit. So who really cares if this 'thing' to be announced on Friday is a B&M invert, a revamp of SOB, a dino walk-through, or the world's biggest ball of twine? Be happy. KI is an amazing park, and we're lucky to have it!

    Best. Post. Of. The. Topic.

Teehee, thanks! ;) I just think sometimes people out there are so focused on getting something NEW that they don't take time to appreciate what's already there. Seems like KI was trying to give us a bit of fun in the off season, giving us all these clues. When they simply could have made a new banner and announced it without letting us speculate first.

That pic somebody posted of the dino in the parking lot is awesome! The only stipulation I have if they make this some sort of walk-through is if they allow me to sing/hum Jurassic Park music the whole way through. Might keep the crowd to a minimum anyway. ;)

Oh and for those of you who keep replying without reading ALL of the posts first, please don't. It basically just clogs up the boards with useless crap. It IS possible to go back and read everything that's already in the topic, trust me. I came in about a gazillion pages in on the rumor coaster 09 thread and sat and read the ENTIRE thing before I decided to throw my 2 cents in. If you're not going to read everything, just don't reply. It'll save time for those of us trying to read the valid points. :)

EDIT: Woops it seems my brother kjkjkj was logged in on his computer still. This post is supposed to come from Ashers!

  5. ^^"Make no bones about it that.." is a saying meaning "There's no doubt that..". So I don't think they mean whatever creature this is themed after willl literally have no bones, and besides snakes DO have bones.

They used that saying, Make no bones about it that something big is coming to Kings Island. To say, there is no doubt that something big is coming to Kings Island. They also used it as a pun since bones, fossils, and Dinosaurs all go hand in hand...

  6. Starting to seem more like a Dinosaur walk though attraction...

Nope, this is definitely something with Son of Beast.

    You're right. My bad ;)

EVERYONE knows that they are adding dinosaur parts to the front of Son of Beast's trains to make it run smoother. I don't know how it slipped my mind

  7. I found one of my posts from opening day last year, and I gotta say.. I called them redoing Coney Mall and adding a flat!

I think they look more fun the the EuroBungee. But a flat ride would be there nice too!

With the way that Cedar Fair's been running things lately, it seems like they make an addition to a section of the park, and spruce that entire section of the park up. Painting buildings, doing landscaping, adding pavers instead of asphalt. When they added Diamondback in Rivertown, they fixed up Rivertown, redid Rivertown Junction, added pavers, and really made the area look great. This season they redid Nick Universe into Planet Snoopy, they painted all the buildings, added pavers, added theming, and painted the rides giving the whole area a great facelift. Maybe next season, we will get a ride in Coney Mall, and they will fix up that entire area of the park. It really could use a face lift. Like you said, they could add a flat ride where EuroBobble is now, and it would bring new life to that area. T

    :D

  8. I can't wait to see what this is! All these new hints everyday, is increasing the anticipation

The teeth in that jaw bone look more like shark teeth than reptilian teeth.

    Shark tooth = http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3f/Tiger_shark_teeth.jpg

    Crocodile teeth = http://www.izintaba.com/files/crocodile_teeth.jpg

Most dinosaur teeth resemble those of a crocodile or alligator, thus bringing me to believe by the shape of the teeth pictured are more like those of a shark.

I wouldn't look too far into that as a clue. I remember when there was the Diamondback teaser of a "creature" in a crate. People said it couldn't have been a snake because of how the eyelids closed. So Kings Island doesn't pay that close attention to small details like that I guess is what I am trying to say...
