Of course hotels and motels are better than campgrounds. I like private bathrooms, cable TV, and the modern comforts of hotels.

I concur with Captain Picard that Star Trek does appeal to a more mature audience. However, I am fond of Star Trek and H-B, as well as Nickelodeon. I hope that someday PKI will have a Star Trek inspired ride, maybe a motion simulator or steel roller coaster. However, I'd be happy if they'd retheme Flight of Fear as a Star Trek coaster.

Yogi, Do you know how often the Hanna-Barbera characters will be at the picnic groves? Also, will only company picnics have access to them? Or can ordinary guests like me see them too? Thank you, ItalianChef

New artical online at Cincinnati Enquirer's site
italianchef replied to DegenRider's topic in Kings Island
I found the article too. And I'm very excited that for the first time in Kings Island's history, their food service manager will be an executive chef. I hope that means an improvement in the culinary quality. -
What are the GROVES??? I am much more interesting in being photographed with the Hanna-Barbera characters that I grew up with than Nickelodeon.

I refuse to believe that metal detectors will slow people down by 1 and 1/2 hours.......unless all the park guests are into body piercing and have rings in places I don't want to imagine. No one can predict whether or not a terrorist or criminal or bully will commit a violent act at any given place or not. The metal detectors will not ensure a safe park......but will help facilitate a safer park. Though PKI has not had a troubled history with armed violence, why wait for it to happen to take precaution? We must face reality that the days when people didn't have to lock their doors, everyone knew everyone, and the world was a gosh darn hunky dorey place are far behind us. Will the metal detectors slow us down a bit? Probably. But in light of recent current events, I think it's worth it and I applaud Paramounts Parks for their prudence and financial investment.

I respect you people who are offended by metal detectors.....but I feel that your views are somewhat outdated. We no longer live in a safe, low crime world. I don't want BIG BROTHER to invade my privacy. However, I realize that we live in a world full of criminals, gangs, terrorists, crazy people, and thugs. The metal detectors will HOPEFULLY reduce the chances of anything going wrong. Hey...let me be a devil's advocate. God forbid a guest was hurt by a metalic weapon in the park.........how many people would say that in light of 9/11, PKI should've had metal detectors? I would like PKI to be as safe as possible, so I will happily put up with the hassle. As stated previously, I respect folks who disagree with me, but I've seen too many crimes in my life to complain about extra security.

Paramount's Kings Island has 8 separate areas, each with its own theme. I concur with the folks who displayed a displeasure for Rap. Being that our esteemed theme park has 8 unique themed areas, I'd like each to play different music: International Street - Internationa Music (Italian/French/Chinese songs) to match the international eateries at International Street. Oktoberfest - German beer hall songs. Paramount Action Zone - Paramount's Movie theme songs. Coney Mall - Comtemporary Pop Music. Rivertown - Downhome Country Music. Hanna-Barbera Land - Old Hanna-Barbera cartoon tunes. Nickelodeon Central - Nickelodeon cartoon Music. WaterWorks - 1960s & 1970s Beach music (Beach Boys, Momas & Papas, etc.) What do y'all think of that?????????

DragonLord.........I should've been specific. The national crime rate has gone down in recent years, though it's creeping up again in part due to the failing economy. I am fully aware that Cincinnati's crime rate is getting increasing worse. All the more reason to support metal detectors since Cincinnati is only 24 mile away. And like you, I don't say the whole barrel is rotten.......but way too many apples.

I work there until 5 PM and can't get there until 7 PM. Can we make other plans?

Any food sub-contractor, such as LaRosa's or Skyline, is in a contract with PKI to serve the food that they have a trademark on. The cola companies that they are affiliated with are an internal matter. Hence, any food merchant at PKI will provide the food that they have a trademark for and can legally only serve the soft drink(s) that their contract with PKI allows. Hence..........Coke is it at PKI.

Hey folks.......I am as much a privacy advocate as anyone - and I hate to waste time. However, I had the misfortune of growing up in New York City. I've been jumped, scarred in the face (from attack), hit by a car, and held up at gunpoint.....as have most members of my family. So, y'all can guess where I stand on this. Therefore, I applaud PKI, in a time of recession, to invest precious economic resources to make us guests feel safer. Do you folks realize that these metal detectors and extra security will reduce corporate profits??? We ought to be grateful to park management for their prudence. Once again......the very handsome Italian chef with a Japanese wife declares his solidarity with the management staff of PKI.

To date, I've received no such thing from PKI. But I vote for a Star Trek ride and to bring back the Star Trek characters. On Saturday I went to a Sci Fi convention in Mason and there was a gorgeous full-figured lady dressed as a Klingon. WOW!!!!!!! Were I not married, I would've invited her out to dinner - assuming she was single. Anyway, I vote for a Star Trek ride and characters.

Hey - I think it's a great idea! In spite of the reduction of crime the past few years, we still live in a relatively dangerous country. This is not Japan, where people can walk the streets at 3 AM drunk and not need to fear for their safety. I reckon the metal detectors will make people feel safer and possibly prevent thugs from sneaking in weapons that they'd use on innocent people. Way to go PKI! Brother ItalianChef is with you.

Thank you Jeff and Aaron for taking time away from your busy schedules and families on a Saturday for the chat. It was most informative. I greatly look forward to riding Delirium, Scooby Doo & the Haunted Castle, SpongeBob SqaurePants.......and all my favorite rides like FoF and The Beast. And I can't wait to buy The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island. At $12 - it'll be a bargain. I hope that the author will do book signings at the park!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait for the LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS magic show. My wife wanted to go to Vegas this year.........but due to circumstances can't afford the trip. So, when I watch that show, I'll pretend to be in Las Vegas.

I am quite fond of the burgers and desserts at Festhaus.

On 9/11 I lost two friends and almost lost a cousin - and I will never be the same. No matter what, we Americans will never feel as safe as we did on 9/10. Nevertheless, life goes on. Our park is not nationally famous like Disney or Universal Studios, so it lacks that appeal. It attracts mostly local yokals.....which is a plus in this time of recession and record deficit spending. Folks in the Midwest who lack money for Orlando, LA, Vegas, etc. may as well go to PKI. As a PKI fan, the fewer people.....the less I wait in line. So groovy if fewer folks show up. But from the BUSINESS perspective....if PKI has poor visitor volume, their bottom line hurts and that means a less groovy park. We are more likely to get into a car accident than we are harmed at PKI. Take precautions, but don't stop enjoying life. Anything can happen any time at anywhere. If we are so afraid, how can we fly, go to PKI, go to the bank, eat at a restaurant, ride a bus, leave our front door, etc.?????? Let's try to enjoy life as much as we can. And let's try to make a better world for our children - and for those of you w/o offspring....your future children. That's my advice.

I take umbrage at your statement, which I find culturally insenstive. For Italian, French, Greek, Portugese, Spaniard and many other European cultures WINE IS A FAMILY tradition. My mother was raised on a vineyard in Italy and I drank wine with dinner since childhood - and I never had a DUI/DWI and never have even one drink and drive thereafter. I never have more than 2 glasses of wine in public - and seldom more than that in private. Yes, there are some irresponsible people who ought not drink in public.........but to say that a family park ought not have alcohol is an insult to families who value wine as part of their culture.
-
I too would like a Star Trek ride at Paramount's Kings Island. If it'd be too expensive, FoF could always be re-themed as a Star Trek ride. I'd never get rid of beer - and I'd add wine which is much healthier. First of all, I'm offended by folks who set up dry counties - it shows a lack of consideration for adults who enjoy alcoholic beverages. And secondly, it'd be bad for business. Now PKI only allows beer in designated areas and I think that it's a good policy. I like Nickelodeon Central and Nickelodeon characters............but I wish that they could co-exist with H-B rather than overtake them. It reminds me of the failed Sci Fi series PREY.

Gosh........what would I do? 1. I'd keep the Hanna-Barbera characters in Hanna-Barbera Land and International Street indefinitely. 2. I'd have International Street absorb Oktoberfest up to and including Festhaus and give the rest of Oktoberfest to Paramount Action Zone. 3. I'd bring back the Star Trek characters to the park - but probably keep them in Paramount Action Zone. 4. I'd replace LaRosa's with Sbarro Pizza. 5. I'd build an indoor log flume not too different from Pirates of the Caribbean. 6. I'd have all places in the park that sell beer offer wine as well. As a good Italian, I never drink beer, just wine.

Water World, which was a box office flop, already has an awesome stunt a show at Universal Studios parks. I doubt that Paramount would want to make a water ride based on it. However, I have faith that there will be an awesome Roto Rooter toilet water ride at the park. And perhaps it can be linked to South Park.
-
Yup and PKI will be offering a real flush ride shaped like a toilet with sound effects - and if anyone gets scared on it.....smell effects too!
-
Hey Yogi, if you're really Jeff Siebert....I'm really Roger Ebert.

I heard an interesting rumor today about the third mystery attraction. A lady who works for Roto Rooter told me that PKI hired them to build a giant toilet shaped water slide at Waterworks. It looks like a giant toilet and the guests slide in cirular motions until they slide "down the drain". The water slide even has sound effects to sound like a real toilet flush. Anybody believe me or do you think I'm making this up?
