Kings Island's History Is Relived in "Riding History to the Limits"!
To be honest, talking with many of the people involved at the time, I would doubt that any would know the exact location of any of the other sites. There were quite a few alternate sites, none with as much usable land or accessibility. (275 was not complete as was 71, but there was more traffic on 71 than 275) Also the area at the time was very depressed, the powder mill was going through drastic changes, and retirees could make more money from selling the property than working it. The Kings area was a no brainer from the start, so other areas were let to spoil on back burners.

Nick-U becomes Planet Snoopy in 2010?
Whoa there, if you haven't been there don't knock it. First off, I would like to clarify what region you are talking about, because Bon Bon Land is Danish not Dutch, big difference. Second, I have not meet any nicer people than those of the northern region of Europe. The parks there are so children and family friendly, and talk about clean!! The "Golden Ticket" for children's area would NOT go to KI if ANY of those parks were in the running. And to top it off, the best part about that region of the world, is the historical value in some of the rides, maybe not at Bon Bon Land but many others. Look them up very interesting.

Very nice, very nice indeed. He would fit in well, a fast food cup must always be in hand when a DCI shirt is on. Oops almost forgot: BLUUUUUUEEEEEEEEE

What's the connection?
You can't wait two more days? Oh poo... I've said too much... Nick U is going to become Whinnie the Pooh? HaHa yippy....tut tut it looks like rain. (Monroe just trying to confuse others, but has only confused himself...it is going to be a loooooong night.)

1200+ miles, four parks, and some great wood coasters
Very good report, I enjoyed it a lot. I have come to the realization that I am in Indiana Beach withdrawal, for I have not been there in quite some time. A Cornball Hurricane may sound like a spring break drink, but to me it is pure fun!!

Knott's Trip Report 8-23-09
To be as confusing as I possibly can be: The answer is yes.......or no.....ok I will go with yes........well no...... The problem with TTD and KK is really not the technology, but the sheer size of the ride. The problems they have had with Xcelerator has been technology, with this ride they found out that height has more to do with the force needed for the launch than the weight. TTD and KK are opposite from that, the force they need to launch the train over the hill was based on the weight of the train. They over powered the motor for Xcelerator so they would not run into this problem, but they ran into other problems. You see a hydraulic motor does not run very well cold, and with it being over powered it is hard keeping it at a good operating temp. All of this being said, it is still more reliable than most hydraulically driven rides out there, they have done a fine job with this coaster and are to be commended. That is the jest without writing a novel, I hope it has helped. By the way, I enjoyed the report, always a fun time at the Knott.

^^^No dispute at all, just a little DCI banter. UC is a very good school, especially if he can get into CCM (Only if he is very serious about the music) Another thing he might want to try is a drum corps like Phantom or one of the smaller ones close to home. Either way he goes, I do wish him all the luck. (A quick little tip on the band thing: if he is a true drum corps fan, he will not like you calling it a marching band. It's kind of like the people say the darndest things thread, some one from the outside will not get it. So when you tell him, make sure you say drum corps and not band, he will love you forever then. The littlest things are always the biggest deal aren't they?)

^^That is an impressive roll call on his part, I hope that the lack of music in school does not deter him from continuing. Tell him to keep his spirits up. I also wanted to thank you for posting your trips, they always bring back great memories for me with my father. We as a community on here, often forget what this park is really about, and that is family. It doesn't matter if it is 2 or 10 people together, or even if they are related or not, as long as we all have a good time. Very therapeutic if you ask me, or my daughter who is very disappointed we did not get one last week day trip in before she started school. She is looking forward to haunt though. Only +1/2 iChase, the Blue Devils may have 13 DCI championships, but Phantom can hold there own with 2 DCI championships. (One of them was a tie, but I think they got ripped off.)

Great to see you had a great time again. Tell your nephew to buy a Blue Devils shirt, it will give him the confidence to ride any coaster at any park. If he is a true DCI fan, he will know what I am talking about.

New Flat Rides
Well not for my nephew, he was terrified of those darn pesky Indians....That is until his older brother became one......Oh how I miss that show. My favorite part was the conductor with the mic, you could ride the train 40 times in one year and they were still able to tell you some thing about the area or history event you did not know about.....fun times, really fun times.
-
New Flat Rides
I do not remember it going any other direction than clockwise, the cars are built to load from the left (facing front). Also the track was much longer back then, but the Indians kept attacking so they decided to get rid of them, shorten the track, and build a water park.

Coaster Battle #3: Red Racer vs. Blue Racer vs. Blue Streak
Well The Racer is 2:00min long, and Blue Streak is 1:45, so I say Blue Streak would win a race.......Unless you are talking about popularity, then I will have to say any side on The Racer.

Coaster Club Memberships
Before I posted this topic, I actually did a search and came across a post (from a long time ago) where you listed your club memberships. It was quite an impressive list Big Surprise . I bet Monroe is one of those that know what OABA is. My guess was for "Organization of American B&M Addicts", but sadly that's not it. Seriously though - I appreciate the input from all Thank you for the kind remarks my friend, but things have changed this year. All of those club memberships were strictly for work purposes. It is amazing how much information you can get out of some of these people. There is at least one walking dictionary in each group, some have more info than Terpy. (I didn't just say that did I?) The publications you receive can be very helpful, especially if you are a thousand miles from home. This year I only renewed about half of those, because I am transforming myself into a home body. Travel has been so bad the last 10 years that I had to take a vacation last week without the wife and daughter. It was a great trip, something that is dear to my heart and I try to do every year but have not been able to except for a day or two. More on that in a trip report that I will post later in the week or early next week. Finally, yes I know what OABA stands for: The Out And Back Addicts!!

Coaster Club Memberships
^Exactly what I wanted to say, but I was too busy making fun of your folded down socks and Gucci fanny pack that I....well.....failed to do so. Does that make me a non-acer if I admit to not knowing every thing?
-
Coaster Club Memberships
Well I am going to go ahead and start on the wrong foot and hope that I can remember how to skip. Well they are!! Yes you just fold down the socks and wear the fanny pack in front!! Seriously, Kat hit it on the nose, for the most part. It really depends on how many events/parks you will go to, that is where you get most of your moneys worth. I belong to many different clubs, some from over seas because of work, and that hits on another part of Kat's post. The articles are some times very good, and for the most part ok but dated, but very rarely lack information that can be helpful. If I had to choose, I would say try GOCC first. There are some very nice people in the organization, but are a little slower to get things moving. If things don't work out, try ace, a little more expensive because of the Rogaine and Gucci fanny packs....I mean events and benefits, but worth at least a try. Just remember, a few bad apples can spoil a bundle, so choose wisely. Both have good people in them, it's just a matter of choosing them. I hope this helped.

Coasters with the best color scheme?
Well no one said it had to be steal so.... This one just because I was impressed with the up keep of it (Unlike other coasters in the Pacific rim). Also it is pure white, kind of like a bride. http://www.rcdb.com/ig1174.htm?picture=2 Then there is: http://www.rcdb.com/ig67.htm?picture=1 and http://www.rcdb.com/ig584.htm?picture=5 oh and don't forget: http://www.rcdb.com/ig72.htm?picture=1 (I liked it better yellow)

Universal Studios Florida / Islands of Adventure PTR
Great TR, great pictures, great fun. See Terpy, you can have a great adventure outside of Jersey!! I particularly liked the pictures of Caro-Seuss-el, the detail that went in to that ride is spectacular. Not to mention you rode with the family. Very well written and an enjoyable read, keep it up.
