As soon as I got in the park, I took a train ride. Needless to say, the train tips during the turns. But still, I nabbed some shots and got a good view of that part of the park. Next up, I decided to whore some credits and immediately went to the Little Dipper, or Paddle Boats as Camden calls it. Not the best ride, but considering it was a kiddy that you can ride without stealing a child, it was pretty nice. After that, I decided to cool off the only way I knew how: the log flume. THIS IS NOT A DAN FRIENDLY RIDE!! The splash from the last drop drenches everything within a mile radius. Next up was the REAL dipper. Let me just say that those NAD trains are comfy, and I'd love to buy one if they ever went up for auction. As for the ride itself, not the best coaster. However, there were two nice pops of ejector air, one of them coming out of the tunnel With my credits accounted for, I set off to explore the rest of the park. Right across from Big Dipper, there was a haunted house. I'm counting it as a hidden credit, since it was powered by gravity and had a chain lift followed by a rollercoaster dip. Needless to say, I'm called a coaster house for the rest of the trip. Next up were the paratroopers, a ride type I've never done. After that, I did the bobs, roundup, and ferris wheel. At this point I had hit everything on that side of the park, so I went back to the middle for some more new-to-me rides. First off were the flyers (my first flyers since I discovered that snapping was good). After a few rounds on it, I went on my first real whip ride. It's a fun little attraction that worked great with the park. At that point, I had about an hour untill I could catch the bus back to the TTA center, so I decided to grab some more laps on the coasters. Unfortunately it started to storm when I was on the credit whore coaster, so I ran to the Dodgems for shelter afterwards. To my suprise, all of the rides were still running dispite the sky now pouring rain onto the cement floor. So I took advantage of the situation and rode the bumpers untill the storm calmed down. By that point, I only had enough time to ride the carousel 2 times before I had to leave. Overall, nice park but not the best. I'll give it a 7/10 for being entertaining while still using old school technology. Plus the coaster house was nice

Ohio Countly WV lands new theme park
Reon replied to tubaman's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Heres my take on the deal: Are they able to build it? YES! I've driven through Wheeling a few times to and from school, and it's barron enough to easilly fit in a huge mega-park/hotel. As for competition, Camden strikes me as more of a Coney Island park, so they wouldn't care for a new big park in the area. Just think of it as KI vs Coney. But yeah, I'm living in Huntington for the next few years, so this is great news for me! I'll be sure to check it out whenever possible etc... -
The first half of each ride is identicle. After the midcourse, they both drop into a corkscrew, and thats where they start going in different directions. Mantis goes in a figure 8ish speghetti bowl, and Chang gets another corkscrew. Thats really the only difference though... As for tolerating them, keep in mind that they're run by SF and CF. Two completely different companies known for running their rides differently...
-
Or just go to SFKK/CP. Both have a nice B&M Stand-up twister (though they're near clones). Personally, I like Chang better, because of it's placement. However, you cant beat being built over a lake either =D
-
^Wouldn't be the same IMO. There is a difference between riding a special ride for a special somebody, and a near-clone for them... But yeah, bring back my snake! My first stand up, one of my all time faves, and a historic ride (1st stand up in the USA)...

So far the only souvenier shirt I brought was one with Vortex on it. None of the other ones were worthy at that time xD. I also buy an onride from every ride that has one, and take maps every year. I've also got a SoB keyring that I use for my major keys =D
-
I think the whole thing with those two hills is placement. When you come out of the first tunnel, your looking at nothing but parking lott and Riverview park across the road. Then you spiral around and back to dark. When you immerge again, your shrowded by the superstructure, and flying past the station at mach speed. That's my take on it atleast. Also, I still can't believe I missed Avalanche. We drove right by it on the way to the park, and Ben promised we'd hit it on the way out. Grrr
-
So yeah, in my latest trip to Madison with the folks, I convinced my cousin Ben and his friend to go to the Dells with me one afternoon. So we went. Yarrrrr. And now, for actual details, starting at when we got to Mt. Olympus. I'll rate each ride from 1-10... The second I entered the actual park, I noticed a new path, which ran right through all the good coasters. Almost immediately, me and my cousin went up the ramp to Zeus.. Zues: 7/10 I take back everything nasty I said about this thing last year. It may not be the best ride in the park, but this thing is filled with ejector air. Even without all the trees it was origionally burried in, this 'thunderbolt' still packs a nice layout, with a double down, double up ending. Next up was my favorite coaster in the world... Cyclops: 100000000000000000.6/10 I cannot stress enough how much I love this ride! Each hill is packed with tremendous airtime, the layout is nicely woven, and there is a moment of air so severe that you almost fall out of the car itself. My only complaint about the ride is that it's too short. After two rides on the one-eyed monster, it was time for the only line of the day... Hades: 9/10 Comparing it to last year's ride, I'd say Hades has aged nicely. Though it's not nearly as prominent as Cyclops or Zues, this thing has some hints of air in it. Also, the 90* turns in pitch black pwn all. After Hades, things took a turn for the worse. On the way to the Parthenon (which at that point was due to close soon), I spotted some goats. Now, I know you all must love them, but I don't do goats. They just disturb me. Anyways, the goat/petting zoo was a harbinger of ill omens. The most prominent was the Parthenon. As soon as I got in there, Opa closed (denied credit #2). So with regret, and some arcading, we trekked back. Over by the carts, we were met by our final denied credit; the Dive to Atlantis water coaster. Apparently it closed, so we just went back to the GOOD stuff for some nighttime rides. Needless to say, the darkness really boosted each rides' ratings, especially Hades. Finally, we left. I already had my Pegasus and Little Titans credits, and we weren't in the mood for any of their exellent go-cart tracks. Unfortunately, my cousin seemed a bit too eager to leave, so I wasn't able to buy a souvenier shirt. Also, he seemed to have forgoten to backtrack to Avalanche, so we just plain left the Dells after Mt. Olympus. Overall, the park gets a 9, but the trip gets a 4 for being so sad and pathetic...All I'm going to say in my defence is this: Despite the goats closing down my credits, Mt. Olympus is an awesome park. CCI built them some great woodies, which are NOT to be missed...Plus they have some sweet go-cart tracks, and you can get into either any of their 4 parks (outdoor park, outdoor waterpark, Bay of Dreams indoor waterpark, Parthenon indoor amusement park) with admission to one park =D

My guess for IJ dispatches is that KI waits for it to clear the helix to prevent rollbacks. Also, I believe the new BGE coaster will be called Griffen. I've seen the announcement thread over at TPR. But yeah, looks like you had lots of fun on your trip!
-
Maybe KI, CP, GL, and then end back at KI? That way we can go straight to lake Erie, and not get side-tracked in Cleveland. But yeah, I agree with alot of KDogg's ideas. Who's interested, and who lives where? Let's get that established before we decide our route.... As for me, right here in Cincinnati, though I'm going to college in Huntington WV. Not like that matters though, if we plan on going midsummer.
-
I hear that GL can be done in an hour or so, so wouldn't it be best to hit it on the way to or from CP? Also, the only reason I mentioned SFKK is if we want to do HW. It's on the way there, so it would be a possible sidetrip.
-
Like I said, the main part of the trip would be all the Ohio CF properties. That alone should take 3 or 4 days (depending on how long we stay at CP). After that, we could go down to HW and hit SFKK on the way there, since it's more or less on route. That would last another day or two. The only problem is that we'd need a definate route, so that we would eventually end up back where we started.

Umm, the people that believe the helicopter attack sequence is the best part of the ride. That, and the launch. That too. I just love how the first thing after the innitial launch is getting whipped into that spiral. The end of the helix is boring, but I'm pretty sure the begging of it is 90 degrees. Can anyone confirm that?
-
I actually still like the ride. Sure, the soundtrack no longer runs, but on an average visit, the effects all work and the ride is pretty smooth. And who can argue with that near-90 degree banking at the bottom of the helix?
-
I personally don't care to ride it anymore. Even if they fix everything, that ride is excessively rough (as in: causes me temporary injury and migranes on a good day rough) and I can hardly stand one ride on it per trip...I couldnt care less if they took it down and replaced it with a Morgan/Intamin hyper (since those are the two most likely hyper candidates from CF)

What is yor favorite KI ride that is not there?

I like how everyone agrees with me that Cobra should stay =D *Plots ways to destroy Delerium* -

King Cobra. I miss that ride so.... Also, the Keelton Flume. I hardly got to appreciate it before they tore it down -
I've never ridden a floorless, so that's what I voted. Then again, theres one down the road in GL. Same goes for flyer, though its a different company. Dive machine, no CF park has yet, but I'd prefer a Euro-Fighter if that was the case...

Look - The Racer has always been a big favorite of mine - but coasters don't last forever. If the ride can be made smoother again so that there is not a bone-jarring jolt at the bottom of the first hill - then by all means it should be kept. Dude, Racer is even more historically significant than King Cobra (America's first stand up), Beast (Longest woodie), Vortex (First with 6 inversions methinks), SoB (First hyper/looping woodie), and FoF (First LIM) combined! Do you realise that this is the very coaster that brought in the second comings of amusement parks? Tearing it down would be like killing all of the amusement park industries at the same time!
