AWESOME Beverage Deal for Passholders at KI!
Delirium33 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Ugh. I knew this would eventually be too good to be true. Now your talking close to $10 with tax... still a deal, but now it's not necessarily something I will buy every time. Before, it payed for itself with two drinks. Now you gotta figure unless your planning on getting 3 or more drinks in a day, not including water, its not really worth it. But hey, $10 is better then no deal at all. -
Does anyone know if they have started laying track and/or supports in the last few days?

Fly Sally Fly! New Aerials of Mystery Construction!
Delirium33 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in Kings Island
Looking at the pics from the plant, I see dark red track-- the same that was at the park-- and a reddish-orange track, as well as bright yellow supports. Are these all for our new ride? Or are the grey supports for KI? I guess we'll know sooner or later. I like the bold red color though. Amazing shots, by the way. -

I used the wristband today. Great deal on such a hot day. I probably drank 7-8 drinks through the course of the day. And yes, I let my friend who ran out of money have a couple sips. It was 95 degrees today. -

I'm going tomorrow... where do you buy these wristbands? And also, I think there's a difference between sharing a drink with someone as in "yeah its hot out, you can have a sip or two" as opposed to "here I'll give you this drink and I'll go get another". The first is just being a good friend... the second is cheating the system. -
MYSTERY NO MORE--KI BUILDING HYPERCOASTER
Delirium33 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
It looks like the entrance to the ride might untilize the old western building that was used for Fearfest's Cowboy Carnage... See how in the blueprints the que areas for Back Lot and Crypt are a darker grey? So is that building... -
AWESOME Beverage Deal for Passholders at KI!

Finally! A reasonable deal at KI! Of course, it would only be a deal if you were spending the day at the park, but I can see this being a big hit. -
I finally have gotten around to report on my trip to Knott's last week. We went on a Monday, and got to the park before it opened. When we pulled up to the parking toll both, my dad flashed his KI Platinum pass, and the attendant let us through, no questions asked. When we got to the gate, we went to Guest Relations and they printed out day tickets to use at the gate becuase they said the passes wouldn't scan... so overall it was really easy using our platinum passes to get in. We were at the park for the park's opening. They played the national anthem just like KI and droped the ropes when it was over. We first headed to Pony Express, their new ride for '08. It's a really neat concept and a different feel for a coaster... being saddled on a horse... but the ride was very simple and extremely short. But again, definately worth the expirience. The launch was pretty cool. We mainly went to the park to ride the big rides... we had other plans in LA for the day so we weren't going to spend the whole day seeing the shows, ect. Here's a summery of what we rode: Xcelerator was incredible! One of my favorite rides I've been on, (even though I haven't been to Cedar Point Yet) They ride op told me that at 0-82 in 2 seconds, it was the quickest accelerating ride in the world... but I don't know if that's true. But the launch was incredible, and the banked turns after the first hill were intense. Supreme Scream was not nearly as thrilling as Drop Zone IMO Silver Bullet was my second favorite ride at Knott's. It was really intense and extremely smooth, and also pretty long. KI could really use a ride like that. Sierra Sidewinder was a surprisingly intense and fun ride, probably my third favorite in the park. It was neat to be spinning while riding and was a really fast-paced ride. Riptide was very intense- just inversion after inversion- it was my first top-spin ride other than the crypt. Oh and while there were signs warning us that we may get wet, the water guns were not working. Ghostrider was alright, a little disappointing. It shook me up more than Son of Beast has since it's reopening. It was almost like RCT where whoever built the ride forgot to bank the turns. It was really jerky side-to-side. I much prefer any of KI's woodie's over that one. After riding most the coasters and big rides in the park, we left to head to Universal Studios. Overal a great trip. Xcelerator was worth the trip alone. Oh, and while we were only there in the morning and early afternoon, the crowds were VERY light. The longest wait we had was 15 minutes.

They're really bad at Boomerang bay. The cicadas were really loud in the back of the water park, and there were a lot of them in the lazy river. There's not one here in northern Kentucky, but at Lake Cumberland they're even worse than at KI.
-
I was at Boomerang Bay on the 6th and the only ride that i saw had dirty water was the lazy river, but yeah it was bad. It didn't bother me enough to complain , however. I will say the cicadas are BAD at the park. They are obnoxiously loud in many areas in the park, and back by the large raft ride in the water park, they were all over! I also saw at least 4 (dead) floating in the lazy river. I don't think there's anything the park can do about it though... Here in NKY, we don't have any cicadas.

I was surprised on Wednesday that they didn't open Boomerang Bay-- I thought it was supposed to be open memorial day weekend to labor day. It was posted on the scroll, but there were a lot of people with swimsuits at the park, so they obviously expected it to be open.
-
That was the impression I got... that the Haunt is just included on Gold and Platinum passes.
-
Funny that it was mentioned that Flight of Fear and Crypt have been more consistent lately- They were both closed today. Also, for some reason, the park never opened Boomerang Bay today... And the park had a decent crowd... most lines were about 15-30 minutes.
-
Oh okay. Thanks for the quick response.
-
Sorry if this was already asked, but is it possible to buy grandstand tickets at the park tomorrow if you didn't get them online? I wanted to see the set-up first.
-
I would say that is a good summary of a typical summer weekday at KI...

I have to disagree. I rode it 4 times on opening day and i thought that it was consistently the smoothest rides I have ever had on any Racer, and I thought it made the airtime more noticeable because it was so much smoother. I mean, comparative to what The Racers used to be. While I am going to miss the experience of riding an tire roller coaster backwards, the overall ride is much more fun, in my opinion.
-
Great pics. Something small that was driving me insane all day: The Racer's badge on its front sign is red on the left side and blue on the right, which is the exact opposite of the sides you enter for those colors.

OK i am not positive, this is only a rumor, but I 'm pretty sure when I was in line for The Beast, I heard Tomb Raider's motors running, and I know for a fact that I saw employee's leaving the back of the building. They may have been testing and/or training today.

I wonder if that path is closed temporarily or if it's destroyed completely and permanently to make room for whatever is going there... I really hope not.
-
what time is pass processing going to open on opening day?

I really hope this year the meal deals are actually practical and useful. Last year the only one that a single person could really use, if I remember correctly, was the Wings buffet. How about a deal on a slice of pizza (or a couple coneys) and a Coke? Very few people--even families-- have the extra money to buy a whole pizza, four salads and four drinks (or something like that). I'm just getting fed up with the food prices at the park... all I'm asking for is a reasonable meal deal.

Which ride will you go to first when Kings Island re-opens?
Delirium33 replied to italianchef's topic in KI Polls
It's been wayy too long since I've been on The Beast. That's the first thing I'll be on, as long as it's ready to go at 10AM. That will probably be followed by a trip up the Eiffel Tower just to see if... you know... anything in the park has changed from last year... Son of Beast and Firehawk are also going to be musts before lunch! I can NOT wait.
