Park Ambassadors Cut In 2024
You both are correct, as is Dispatch Master. “Why wouldn’t we cut things? Season passholders will show up anyway!” From what I’ve heard, the season pass mix was way too high for Q4 at KI. The season passholders certainly show up! No one else did. ”There are two tragedies in life—not getting what you want, and getting it.” -Oscar Wilde

DOJ seeks additional info from Six Flags, Cedar Fair on $8 bln merger
I think the DOJ is thinking exactly what you’re saying; however I don’t think it’s true in the theme park context. They’ll have to make certain concessions, but it’ll go through eventually. Just my guess

They certainly can. But where the eye roll comes in is where every time he blogs about KI, they clearly read it and make a similar post. It’s like clockwork. Maybe it’s a coincidence, maybe not. But it is guaranteed.

Park Ambassadors Cut In 2024
I don’t think that’s a fair statement. I think the budget cuts are necessary. With mergers, debt, etc it just has to be done. Where I have a problem is the lack of transparency. They may add hours in the future? Yeah right. They gutted the VIP Lounge because people were stealing? Uh hu. Don’t tell me it’s a desk lamp when I can clearly see that it’s an end table.

Coasterstock No More?
Latest Tower Topics discusses the announcement that Coasterstock is cancelled for 2024. Why did they choose to do the ACE event instead? Do you think it’ll really be back in 2025? What exactly is mean by, “timing?” All of this and more: https://linktr.ee/towertopics

Park Ambassadors Cut In 2024
It is widely being reported on social media that the park ambassadors were told that their positions were being eliminated this year. Unfortunately, this appears to be affirming that, as predicted, there will be very noticeable budget cuts for this season. As I imagine that many of them may not be returning for other positions, I want to thank all of the ambassadors from the past few years. You guys are great!

Coasterstock No More?
Several clubs have done events during the Coasterstock era. Specifically, I know GOCC and TPR have been there. People who wanted to do events had the opportunity; however, they had to work with Group Sales to hammer out the details. The main reason why individual clubs didn't do as many events is likely that they couldn't guarantee the numbers since people aren't going to travel twice to the same park twice in one year - especially if they are coming from far away. Everyone who has said that putting on these events is a big effort is absolutely correct. It's also a big drain on resources. As opposed to ACE, GOCC, Coaster Crew, TPR, KIC, etc all requesting events with some being told 'no' because of the limitation on resources, the idea was to have one big event that everyone can enjoy. Cedar Point plays their hand in a similar way with their event. I attended the first two Coasterstock events. Once tickets became hard to come by, I stopped going because I had done most of the activities and knew most of the speakers. I'm sure that I would have had a great time, but I feel good about my decision to relinquish my spot to someone who may be experiencing all of this for the first time. The years that I went I had a great time! I also made friends at Coasterstock that I will always value. It's being said that it'll be back in 2025, and for the sake of those who truly love the event each year, I hope they do... but I still have my doubts.

Kings Island Lowers Starting Wage For 2024
Okay, then what about paying less to clean very busy, very disgusting public restrooms?

Kings Island Lowers Starting Wage For 2024
Update: Oof. A restroom attendant pays $15.25. How bad of a work environment is the food department? Literally they have to pay more to serve food than to clean up public restrooms.

Kings Island Lowers Starting Wage For 2024
Food says it starts at $15.50. Is that a reduction from last year? I know $14 is because people were talking about it on Reddit.

Kings Island Lowers Starting Wage For 2024
I saw this on Reddit. Last year they started at $15. Bookmark this page for when they try to tell us that rides, restaurants, and so on are closing early due to staffing and not budget cuts.

Coasterstock No More?
Guarantee that if you had the perfect candidate they still would have picked who they did. Why do I know this? Because the person they picked didn’t nearly meet the requirements listed on the job posting. No disrespect to person who got it. But let’s be honest - the person who was picked was chosen because they aren’t a threat to the decision maker. Probably part of the reason why the position was open in the first place. So no - “if you don’t like what’s going on then you should have applied” is not an argument that holds water.

Camp Snoopy Construction Updates
Don and I reported on the Pick Six that Holiday World had said on their podcast that their Vekoma Family Boomerang was promised to be the first one to open in America, thus Soapbox Racers wouldn’t open with the park on April 20. I cannot tell you how many times people came to us from “official sources” claiming that it wasn’t true and that we didn’t know what we were talking about. A smear campaign. If the quote above is true (and who knows what is anymore) then Camp Snoopy is, and always was, planned to open late. They knew about the Holiday World situation. Otherwise, why would, “on schedule” mean “late Spring?” Who would intentionally do that?
