Making their return after 65 million years of extinction, dinosaurs have invaded Kings Island! Kings Island has just opened their brand new family-friendly dinosaur park entitled Dinosaurs Alive! and received a huge reaction on its Thursday afternoon debut. Featuring 60 realistic animatroic dinosaurs and sprawling 12.5 wooded acres, Dinosaurs Alive! is a must-see attraction for anyone who has kids... or just plain enjoys dinosaurs. Not only do you get to see some of the Earth's most savage creatures, but you can learn a lot about them too! Along the path, there are countless signs displaying the name, origin and interesting facts about each dinosaur. As soon as your finished with the 4,000' Dinosaurs Alive! trail, head on over to the FX Theatre where a brand new Dinosaurs in 3D movie is playing. This movie uses a new technology in 3D projection making the visual effects astounding! Dinosaurs Alive is just $5, while Dinosaurs in 3D is $4 but you can get them both for the every day low price of $7 To see photos of Dinosaurs Alive!, follow the link below: http://www.KICentral.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=lastup&cat=0 Follow the link below and click on download to see the Dinosaurs Alive! video: http://www.filedropper.com/dinosaursalive

Top-notch trip report as always, Jesse! I'm in the process of uploading the video now. Shouldn't be long.
-
But again, no one from the park has officially come out and said that WindSeeker would be ready for next weekend. It could be tomorrow, could be two weeks from now. We just don't know yet. Until then, I'd expect Beast/DB to be the lineup.
-
I think you're confusing that video. That was peoples' reactions when they found out they were going to get a new coaster in 2005... one with a theme...

Although we know that Dinosaurs Alive! is opening over Memorial Day Weekend, here are some more specific details. Dinosaurs Alive! will open to the general public at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 26th. The cost of the park will be $5 for the Dinosaurs Alive Park $4 for the Dinosaurs 3D video, or you can do a package deal for the two at $7.

Hey everyone! KICentral will be hosting a video contest effective immediately. The winners will be judged by members of Kings Island's marketing department and the winners will receive a personal Beast backstage tour as well as having their video featured on Kings Island's Facebook for 200,000 of their fans to see! Here are the rules: The video is limited to TWO MINUTES in length. The subject matter will be, "What Kings Island means to me." The only limitation is that there must be some footage from the park that was filmed during the 2011 season. This footage must be very evident as in, having WindSeeker or Dinosaurs in the background. Other than that, reach inside yourself and BE CREATIVE!!! There are no other format rules besides what has been listed above. The contest will be judged on a 50 point scale, and the categories are as follows: 10 Points are scored based on how you perceived the theme of, "What Kings Island Means to Me." 10 Points based on the originality of the concept of the video 10 Points for over all editing quality 10 Points for the rules (two minutes, current footage, etc) 10 Points for the "awe factor" which basically means that the judges can give or take these points base solely on how impressed they are. There are two ways that you can submit your video. You can drop it off at the park at Guest Services near the main gate. If you choose to do that, make sure you mark on the container that it is a video for the KICentral Video Contest and address it to Don Helbig. Secondly, it can be mailed to the park at the following address: Don Helbig Kings Island Public Relations Area Manager KICentral VIDEO CONTEST 6300 Kings Island Drive P.O. Box 901 Kings Island, OH 45034 The cutoff date will be announced in the near future along with when the winners will be announced. Let me know if you have any questions!!! Ryan

There will be subtle wooden fences around the dinos along with employees stationed throughout the trail for just that reason. Trail of Terror was eaten by the dinosaurs.

Wake Nation Houston Now Open
BoddaH1994 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Oh, I'll be there. After a VERY cold first couple of weeks last year, I promised myself that this would be the year that I wait until it's actually warm before heading up there. I'll probably go up, buy my season pass, and get my first rides in this Friday. If anyone is interested in going and wants a riding buddy, let me know! -
As you guys saw from the photos, I've already walked through it. They only had about 10 dinosaurs out as of last Wednesday, but it looked pretty sweet as it stood. The whole area is very secluded and they have been doing a great job making it kind of difficult to see what's next on the trail. They have even worked with some natural water features and worked it into the path. Very very neat. I'm telling you guys - this will be a fun one for kids and adults alike. ...and the quote of the day: "All of the scientists think that the dinosaurs were taken out by a meteor, but I happen to know that they were actually taken out by super heroes." -The 5 year old son of a friend of mine who calls me his best friend.

Not since the summer of 1996, when "Jurassic Park: The Ride" opened at Universal Studios, have amusement park fans looked forward to such an awe inspiring dinosaur themed attraction. This coming Memorial Day, Kings Island will roll out its all new, one-of-a-kind walkthrough experience: Dinosaurs Alive! Today, KICentral.com brings you exclusive coverage of the attraction's construction. The attraction will feature 60 life sized dinosaurs, 56 of which have life-like animatronic motion. The biggest attraction along the trail will be the Ruyang Yellow River dinosaur which measures 72 feet long, 12 feet wide and an incredible 30 ft. high! In addition to the world's largest animatronic dinosaur park, Kings Island will be debuting "Dinosaurs Alive 3D!" in the park's Action FX Theatre. Viewers will be treated to a 10 minute educational film in stunning 3D on the theatre's massive screen. Dinosaurs Alive is available to be experienced at just $5.00, while Dinosaurs Alive 3D is available for just $4.00! A combo ticket to experience both can be purchased at a mere $7.00 per guest. Both exciting new attractions open May 26th! Be there or be extinct! Click below to view the new construction photos: http://www.KICentral.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=337

Many would say that Kings Island's live entertainment is its biggest hidden secret, and if you have checked out any of the shows in the past several years you can see why. KICentral was given the opportunity to preview the three shows opening with this park on April 30th. "American Country" continues the successful trend of country music-themed shows that have entertained thousands of guests in the Festhaus. This roughly half-hour show celebrates the past 20 years of country music in the United States as well as a wonderful tribute to the patriotism shown by the American people in the period following 9/11. This show stands tall with all of the other legacy shows at Kings Island and throws the viewer on a ride that is unmatched by any roller coaster of wood or steel. It also includes video cameos by several Kings Island employees and a couple of guys from EnterTRAINment Junction about what country music means to them and how they were affected by 9/11. This is a must-see show this season! Location: Festhaus Times: 1:30; 2:30; 3:30; 5:00; 6:00 Secondly, Charlie Brown's Pirate Adventure will debut in the Peanuts Playhouse. This is an interactive pirate-themed kid-oriented show that features Charlie Brown and the gang. If you're lucky, you might even be chosen to help swab the poop deck! Location: Peanuts Playhouse (Planet Snoopy) Times: 12:30; 2:00; 3:00; 4:00 Last but not least, Peanuts Party in the Plaza will delight Peanuts fans- young and old alike! This is an opportunity to meet some of your favorite Peanuts characters, but not before a very elaborate song and dance number by the characters and some of their human friends. This is a most elaborate show for children and also should not be missed!! For photos of these shows, check out the link below: http://www.KICentral.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=lastup&cat=0 Also, I want to give a shout out to our friends at Fans Of Kings Island Entertainment. It's an excellent source live show reviews and inside information. Definitely worth checking out!! www.fansofKIentertainment.com

For some people, their birthday is their favorite day of the year. Mothers may choose Mothers' Day, patriotic people may say the 4th of July, and others would say Christmas. Here at KICentral, the best day of the year is Kings Island's long-awaited opening day! The wait is nearly over as Kings Island finally opens its gates for the 2011 season on Saturday, April 30th!* If you haven't purchased your season pass yet, what are you waiting for?!? Now you can renew your pass online and skip the lines entirely! Follow the link below to purchase your 2011 season pass and have a full summer of family fun including Kings Island's famous Halloween Haunt! Purchase early and get special Gold Pass benefits and FREE parking for the entire 2011 season!! http://www.visitkingsisland.com/goldpass/index.cfm WindSeeker, Kings Island's new 301' ride, will not be ready to start the season on April 30th, but that doesn't mean that there's nothing new and exciting to see at Kings Island this Saturday! Kings Island's Entertainment Department will debut a brand new country show in the Festhaus entitled, "American Country." This new show will celebrate the past 20 years of country music and will feature the music of Faith Hill, Lady Antebellum, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood and more!! This show was produced in-house, not unlike the very popular "Down Home Country," "Hot Blooded," and "County Line." If the future reflects the past, this will be another wonderful hit that can be enjoyed by young and old, country fan and non-fan. Location: Festhaus 1:30; 2:30; 3:30; 5:00; 6:00 *Kings Island is closed Sunday, May 1st

The rating system is a little weird, but it does make sense. It's more about safety than thrill factor, I think. No one things that Drop Tower is less thrilling than AE. Well, maybe someone, but the world's a big place. If I recall correctly, there is a criteria for a higher rating such as: Changes in speed Changes in elevation Sudden drops and turns, etc Therefore, it's unlikely that someone will look at Drop Tower and think, "If I can take on Adventure Express, I can certainly do this!" However someone who may be sensitive to certain things - like they could get nausious from sudden turns - may be able to handle Drop Tower better than AE, simply because more itemized forces are required of your body on AE than Drop Tower.

Don't forget that Knievel, Wallenda and little Wallenda were all world record attemps as well. Those went really well. I look forward to seeing what's planned. -
