Maybe that’s changed. There are photos circulating of a promo banner with the dining plan logo on it. …or when CP tried to charge like $2.50 for CFA for the dining plan. Due to outrage, that didn’t last long. All it would take is for them to get the idea that they can start doing that the plan will be worthless. Burgers and pizza are on the dining plan for Coney BBQ, Brew House etc are +$5. Trust me, someone will or has already brought up that idea. Do you really think it’s horrid? I must admit that it feels like the quality took a big step back this year, but I don’t think it’s horrid.

I was going over the Prestige Pass benefits and saw the Enhanced Pass Perks as a reward. I had totally forgotten about this. My question is, has anyone with a Prestige Pass experienced this? I know that people would get random emails for buy one, get one cotton candy or a free day of access to the VIP Lounge, but this implies that something different in the program for Prestige people. I know that the program has been in its infancy for the past half-decade, but I haven’t received anything from it this year - and this is after visiting regularly and even spending money in-park. Am I missing out on something or is this a perk that has yet to be delivered?

But there’s a fallacy to that. If that’s what it takes to attract or retain the best then that’s the cost of doing business. Is it working? That’s up for debate of course, but a lot of people think “OMG those fat cats in corporate get their fat bonuses” etc when it’s done for a reason.

Completely agree. You’d be surprised how beneficial a relationship with the community, media and fan base can be. How how non-beneficial it is when those relationships are neglected or destroyed…

Almost certainly not her decision to have those cuts. Every park wants more shows, more rides, etc. It’s another party that gives them the budget to make their decisions. I also suspect that they are opening all year on a budget that is similar to when they were seasonal.

If someone is dumb enough to drop $20 to ride FOF, they can collectively fund the next coaster. That’s cool.

I think the problem with Cirque was the same as the problem with the ice skating shows: Year 1: This new show is awesome! Year 2: Sweet! The new show is back! Year 3: Awesome! New cirque/skating show Year 4: Oh, I suppose thats coming back Year 5: The new show wasn’t as good as the last two Year 6: Eh, I’m cirque’d out… Too much of anything can be bad…

It still doesn’t app up. How do they go from, “We open tomorrow!” to “We need a critical part that’s in Europe.” Maybe @teenageninja can shed a little more light on the supply chain side of things (I don’t know what I don’t know) but it just doesn’t make sense. Normally I’d agree, but they’ve done WF for like five or six seasons now and it hasn’t been a problem. Cedar Point’s opening weekend seems to be typically tougher than KI’s but KI almost always has everything going (outside of extraneous situations) - and that’s with that extra shoulder season. That shows that something was different this year. Supply chain? Probably. But why didn’t it hit that hard last year or in 2021? Could have just been a series of bad luck.

Not sure where this idea that Zamperla is a discount manufacturer comes from. They are the premier flat ride manufacturer by a mile. I’m wondering if the spinning problem is a break in thing. When I rode, I could get it going a little with all of my force. A group of kids would never be able to begin to get it to spin. I’m sure that’s not their intention. Also, I don’t think they’re governed to prevent spinning to this extreme. There are a lot of these things out there and they can spin a lot, and I’ve never seen a park intentionally tamper them down, which leads to me to believe that the perception is that there is no danger in “extreme” spinning.

But testing and POV doesn’t mean it’s guest-ready. They could have been running the whole thing in manual mode for all we know, which wouldn’t be appropriate for guests. Im not sure if I buy the part thing or not. It’s just that you’d think they’d have that figured out earlier on. I think they found something wrong, or something that they wish to correct before putting guests on it. But hey - would you rather see them wait until it’s 100% ready or just put guests on it and find out what happens?

What is the most popular ride at Kings Island?
BoddaH1994 replied to italianchef's topic in Kings Island
Most ridden ride? The Racer, followed by the train. -
Probably the “tech” stuff that I’ve heard is still being worked on. I don’t have any details, but that’s what I imagined it was when I saw that.

Word on the street is that some “tech” stuff is still on the docket to be fixed. I’m not sure which element that you’re talking about, but hopefully we will see more in the last tunnel.

Some thoughts: Adventure Express is different, but doesn’t have all of the theme pieces that it had. They used to have mist spray out around the track immediately after you left the station. I’ve always heard that stuff like that is bad for track, but it’s hard to believe that so many made the same mistake over and over. I think they use it until it fulfills its marketability and then they don’t want to pay for the water. I bet they could use non-potable water for this and it would be fine. They also had snakes and whatnot. This is different. It’s just as much, if not more, than before. The term “reimagined” that they’ve been using seems to be the most appropriate. For the record, my understanding is that the project isn’t 100% finished. There is no “restoring” Backlot. It never worked the way that they said it would. The closest was in the previewed days. Even once it had media day (about two weeks later) audio, headlights, etc, were going downhill. I suppose they could restore what they had, but some things that were advertised (rumbling down the steps comes to mind) simply never happens. I’d rather see them put the money into a new ride. FOF did not maintain its themed. It was restored. It was in BAD shape until an employee took it upon themselves to fix what they could. Then it was overhauled in 2020 with Area 72. Still pretty cool for being a 26 year old ride, right?? Fun fact: (and let’s see how many can date themselves by saying they remember this!) Have you over notice an odd square hole over the stairs into the UFO? Know what that was for? Back when it had the Outer Limits theme the UFO used to project a vertical and horizontal line onto the opposing wall when the video said, “we control the vertical and the horizontal.” It was cool! With that being said, let’s take another moment to gush over the themeing that they’ve done to Adventure Port! That’s much more than I had thought!

Yeah, I saw someone on Twitter that was pretty upset since they had already booked a hotel and stuff. I totally understand that. On the other hand, I’m sure the park didn’t make this decision lightly. They knew the blowback that there were going to have, but they made the decision anyway. This tells me they had no choice. Sucky situation all around.

If the drone loses signal it will land itself. The drone did not target that roof thinking that it was the home position.

How would you have done Dinosaurs Alive differenty?
BoddaH1994 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in KI Polls
It cost money to go through the first year or so. I think that kind of soured people. $5 wasn’t a big ask, but it felt like a pay-per-ride that was dropped on us. Then it became free. Maybe that was the plan all along. With that being said, I think it would still be gone no matter what. I think the company got what they wanted out of it and then ditched it - all according to plan. Why else would they all be removed so close together? Clearly there were some that were closer to others. Oh well, at least this will be a thing that you can tell your kids and grandkids about, since it was so out of left field. If they were to do it today, I’d say use those as the animatronics for an indoor dark ride. Tons can be done - tons has been done - with these theme, so they’d know it’s safe. -
::selfish plug:: If you listed to the Attractions Group podcast with Joe Rozzi you’d already know that if the drones lose signal, they go down. That’s why so many safety precautions are taken. They lost a small handful of them in 2022, and all were recovered except one - which was found over the winter. I was also a little shocked that they did not make the AE logo. I think that the marketing theme of the year is “Adventure Awaits” or whatever; but I think that the average person would assume that the show would lean heavily into AP. I can’t complain because I think the content was very appropriate for the story they were trying to tell, maybe the name is just wrong?

Just remember that often what is done is dictated by budgets. The two Zamperlas weren’t terribly expensive so they likely had money for the rest of this stuff. If they put in a coaster it would be a big commitment to drop tens of millions on a ride and then whatever else more for themeing. The cool part about this is that this does prove that if they WANT to do cool themes then this demonstrates again that they have the competence to do so.

The head looks so good that it gives me chills…

Aside from the access, I think that the targets, as they stand now, are too difficult to hit for a normal person. You have to be persistent. This isn’t true for other rides of this type. In fact, the one at KD as far more enjoyable because they emit a laser spot.
